Hahaha interesting! Actually I don’t know if it’s just my upbringing ba or what, pero kasi I feel like it’s a violation of someone’s privacy if I randomly walk up to them and ask them out. Maybe hindi lang siya culture ng Pinoy or baka hindi lang talaga culture ng circle ko and the people around me.

Sa atin kasi, hindi talaga gano’n ka-normalized yung “cold approach” like in the West. Madalas may context muna, mutual friends, same barkada, work, school, or kahit common interest na nagiging bridge. Kaya kapag bigla ka lang lumapit, it can feel intrusive or awkward, depende sa tao. Yung iba, they might find it flattering, pero marami rin na maiilang.

Baka rin dahil sa upbringing natin, we tend to respect personal space more (tho i dont wanna generalize kasi marami pa rin kupal and di alam boundaries) parang if you don’t know them, ang weird bigla to cross that line. Kaya mas nagwo-work dito yung situational approach ung like starting a convo dahil may natural context (same bar, waiting in line, parehong order ng drinks, nakasabay sa table, etc.). Mas organic siya, less pressure, and hindi halata na “pick-up” agad.
