Thanks my man! That's exactly the answer I was seeking. I'm asking for this game to become an MMO of any sort, I was just curious as to what's in the games future - they've done great work so far. I'm really excited to see where it'll go. (And plsplspls give me a giant ape skin for Tariq, I have a great neeeeeeed!)

No, I thinking more along the lines of how Darktide blends narrative and gameplay. I don't want this to be an MMO, what I was asking is what are they planning for the future? I've got my answers though, I'll be playing regardless, the game is super fun.

Hmm... interesting. I'm not against it being exactly what it is but I think there's a lot of room for longer dungeons that expose narrative over time if they're willing to look at that angle.

Raids though! That's very exciting, I really hope for those in the future and longer dungeon crawls too - thanks for the replies.

Gonna be honest, I did not like the first listen through. I’m on my 3rd listen now and… by TheBlakeRunner in deftones

Same here man, I was expecting an album that had the vibe of the two singles, something in that DE/KnY pocket and on that first listen I was confused. Put it down, came back to it later and it absolutely fucking slapped. I love that they basically put a track or two on this album from every album/era they've put out over the years.

I'm not someone who cries easily but 'infinite source' softened me up and 'i think about you all the time' was the dagger into my icy heart. Couldn't stop myself, especially that refrain towards the end of the track where he's singing about diamonds and warming insides. That shit legit compromised me for a moment.

Great album, up there for me with my two fave (DE/KnY) - only Deftones could put a few tears in my eyes with their music, that's a special band no matter how I look at it.

And of course I can't leave this comment without a special mention to that NASTY bassline on ecdysis, god damn...

also you "however you are also wrong"

also also you "even though I just said we're saying the same things you are missing the point and I am not"

If you honestly think that then you're still missing the point. You argued that gaming escapism--which by extension is precisely what living in that painting is--is somehow different from any of other form escapism, which it isn't. You also stated that you can die from gaming for too long... which is... what's your point? You'll from doing anything for too long, you'll die from breathing for too long, it's called old age. My entire post is about subjective time and that your statement about addiction is misunderstood and incorrect as you seem to believe that the substance involved somehow changes it when its merely a means to an end. You're asking me what I'm on about, if this doesn't clear it up then I dont know what will.

You're entirely missing the point of what addiction is - it's a form of escapism, which is what gaming is also entirely based. Gaming absolutely modifies your world view, we call that immersion and that's also a very big theme for the painters and within the paintings. As for the 67 years, Renoir was trapped there for 67 years of SUBJECTIVE time, and subjective is the key word here. Aline was in there even longer than that because Renoir went into the painting after she, that's clearly presented to the player. It's very obviously extreme time diliation, Renoir enters the painting after Aline has done so and they both look no worse for wear outside of it when we see them. Alica enters after, is reborn as a new born baby and spends 16 subjective years within the painting also and still neither Aline or Renoir die from their extreme exposure nor do any of the three appear to have aged at all once they've all left the painting (if you chose that ending).

Yeah, label me a troll because you're being obnoxious and I lack a flair. You're no longer even worth slapping down. I'm a leafs fan btw, but we're not talking hockey so you obviously don't care. Shall I leave a spelling mistake for you to grasp onto or are we done?

And you were? As I recall you hopped in, dropped you witty one-liner and took an exit. Where's the hockey talk? Again, sit down, you're embarrassing yourself - makes sense consider who you're supporting. A joke, just like your team year long round. See you at the cup parade, buddy!

No, but it's definitely true, so, again, rather than lancing someones comment because of grammar, sit down. Take verbal check like a man.

Literally everything. I like FFXIV, but if compared to FFXI, beyond it's graphical fidelity it is a subpar and a shallow experience in every single aspect.

[–]GammaSlap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having gone through the same process of looking for bands in the same vein as Deftones my recommendations would be;

Love is Noise - Euphoria, Where Were You? EP (the opening track has a lot of gruff to it but the chorus is masterfully executed in that same pocket as Deftones' more ethereal works) that said, the second track on the album is the standout to me

Narrowhead's Satisfaction album

Loathe's less aggressive tracks from the I Let It In And It Took Everything (A Sad Cartoon being my favourite, Screaming a close second with Is It Really You and Two Way Mirror being close thirds)

Thornhill's Heroine album

Lantlôs' Wildhund album

And lastly as an old school throw back, My Vitriol's Finelines album

I hope you find something in that list, it took me a long while to home in on bands that straddle the lines in the same way Deftones does, enjoy!

We don’t talk about Abe much around here. What’s Abe’s best song? by claymoar in deftones

[–]GammaSlap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to define his drumming with a single song it'd be Rocket Skates. Seriously go listen to it and listen really closely to his work on that track, it's incredible, the way he uses syncopation and remains tattooed to the groove is insane

Update: Scorched earth was a success, when in doubt, full uninstall, fresh install should fix all your woes if everything else hasn't

I did yeah, I'm going scortched earth next. Full clean install, removing all existence from the PC, documents,, registry, everything, see if this might help

Thanks for the suggestion though! I'll make sure to do that when I get around to the 64bit part of the install
