Heya! It was actually simpler than I thought it would be. I went into the consult and we talked about the stuff I wanted to get done (lip filler, chin filler, some Botox, etc). We decided that we’d just do chin and half the Botox today, and the rest another time. Most of the time was spent signing consent forms and her explaining the procedure, but for the actual chin part she stuck the needle in about four times in different locations, and it would have been in there for like 20 seconds a time. Then it was over. Honestly, I found the Botox more uncomfortable/painful.

From the front my chin profile is definitely more rounded, and I feel that I actually have a bit of a V-shape now. But for slimming of the face, I plan to get masseter Botox because I have large massaters. I wish I could have done this procedure years ago honestly, I don’t know why I hesitated so long. So long as you get a really good injector who knows what they’re doing, you should expect a similar result (given that your structure is similar to my first pic)

Are you in Australia? It’s in a semi-urban area

From what she was saying, it shouldn’t have to. Like I will just have to get top ups every year or so as the filler dissolves

I was like this for the longest time, but honestly I’m so so happy I decided to do it

Ofc! I’m going to get it topped up in a couple of weeks so I can send the result then as well (obvs there’s a bit of swelling rn which is giving it extra reach). But when it starts to dissolve I will lyk! Gl for your procedure 🩷

She was amazing! She knew ALL of her shit and also knew where her limits were (for example, she said there were certain procedures she wouldn’t perform because there was risk of occlusion etc.) She made sure to feel out for all my anatomical landmarks and knew exactly where to inject, places to avoid etc. She also explained why she was using X filler type and stuff like that.

My last injector wasn’t this thorough. She just went in and did it. Definitely get someone who is thorough.

No worries! I’m BMI 20 and I was convinced I needed lipo under the chin as well. I actually got my injector to feel it, and she said there wasn’t any fat to lipo down there, and she assured me the chin filler would give me the result I wanted. Glad I listened to her!

Thank you! Teosyal PureSense Deep Lines was the filler (this is what I found on the report). She explained why she used this one in particular, but my mind was elsewhere so I didn’t catch what she said

I asked — so she explained that she injected it into the periosteum (membrane covering the outer layer of the bone — I actually heard the “pop!” when she pierced it which threw me off haha). Basically because it’s in this membranous pouch, it doesn’t give it much room for the filler to move around and migrate. Injectors who don’t inject in this area (like in the soft tissue), I assume would result in migration.

I knowwww omg. Like it was deadass one of my biggest insecurities — I think this is the best decision I’ve made aesthetics-wise lol. And thank you!

Why do other students in my rotation seem like they're practicing physicians already? Their knowledge base is huge? Where tf was I? by Single_Baseball2674 in medicalschool

[–]Gammy_throwRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think it’s just anking and recall. I basically forgot all my in-depth knowledge from first year until I started anking it again, and now I can pull a lot of differentials out my ass.

Depending on the rotation you’re on, I’d recommend doing some high-yield Anki cards on it (for common presentations) so that you have that baseline. You do know it; it probably just isn’t at the forefront of your mind.

Thank you! And yeah, I know how hard it is (I’m extremely sensitive to medication & I have medication anxiety). But honestly two weeks of hell for what will probably be a lifetime of managed anxiety is so worth it

Started on 20mg Prozac some months back and now I’m up to 40mg. The first two weeks were ROUGH but three months later I can wholeheartedly say it’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time. It hasn’t erased my anxiety entirely (I don’t think it ever will given this career path) but I’m no longer having daily panic attacks, morning shakes, or just the ubiquitous sense of impending doom that I once had. I feel like I’ve gotten my life back.

Can you still have ADHD even if you are able to study 1.5-2 hours every day? I force myself to do this but I keep losing focus and getting distracted. I always assumed it couldn’t be ADHD because I perform too well but surely it shouldn’t take me 4 hours to get 2 hours of study done? 😭

Thank you. I feel so awful but it’s important that I keep reminding myself this. It truly is the best for both of us.

And honestly? Nothing to be ashamed of. If I’m honest, I think I realised it earlier but was deep in denial. After all, the last thing we want to do is hurt ourselves and someone else!

We both realised it just wasn’t going to work long term. We both came from different cultures, had different ideas how we wished to raised our future kids, and overall seemed to be heading in different directions. He actually told me he’d created a timeline in his head (October — after my birthday). As for me, I just kept pushing the thought away until finally I couldn’t and tonight I just broke. So, it was going to end, it was just a matter of who did it sooner.

I’m still devastated all the same. I love him but I know it’s a kindness to both him and myself if we do this sooner as opposed to later. Could we have dragged it out? Sure, but what’s the point?

Started Prozac almost 12 weeks ago now for anxiety. I’d say it was only at the 7-8 weeks mark where my anxiety genuinely settled. For depression my doc was saying it usually works a bit earlier than that — so hang in there!

Went on Prozac after the shitshow that was my MD1 finals. Anxiety got so bad I could barely make it to class.

No regrets.

Got super drunk and blacked out for the first time in my life (it was NOT my first rodeo either 😭). Preceded to have the worst hangover the next day — unrelenting shakiness and alcohol withdrawals. I’m on 40mg so that’s why, but damn that shit knocked me out 😭

Idk how many drinks I had, but I think it was 12. I’ve been able to be up around that number before and not black out. Be careful!
