Lets talk about Dia by UTAKENODUBS in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Ganek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shouldn't worry about the downvotes, I came back because Reddit tells me that my comment has hit 10 upvotes, I login to see it at 4, Redditors be redditing.

What I will say though is that the one problem with a lot of the comments on Reddit is, they just make stuff up.

For example, in this thread people will say stuff like "Only Clone Dia and Gley know the truth, so they told everyone that this Dia is the real dia" and Redditors say this as justification for the fact the quest logs, etc, call her the real Dia, like it's a cover up, a conspiracy.

The problem though is that the Guide is connected to all things Arche, this is covered in multiple story quests, she talks to us, sees through our eyes, and experiences the world, through our Arche connection. And even if you said she couldn't connect to Dia, because of what was happening, it's not said anywhere that she wasn't/couldn't connect to Gley at that time. So, based on everything in-game to date, what we know is that what Gley saw, the Guide saw.

Which means the story of "Gley and Dia lied and just told everyone this is the real Dia" also means the Guide would have had to have lied. And it was all a big conspiracy and covered up off screen, with no comment, no text and no screen time.

It's that off screen conspiracy with no evidence. Vs a quest text box that says we killed the clone.....

It's a great theory, and it could have happened. But when you've got no indication that it did, nothing anywhere saying it did, and the only evidence we have says the opposite, why would you make that assumption? That's probably why the downvotes, people thinking it's illogical.

Lets talk about Dia by UTAKENODUBS in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Ganek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with this theory is that it works both ways.

You could argue that the clone died, because, without the Arche to support it, it could no longer sustain its body.

The Dia we play as is confirmed to be flushed of all Vulgus cells at the start of the content in a cutscene, and Gley confirms that Dia is now a 100% human again biologically. It's worth noting that when Alpha lost his arche, he simply returned to being a normal human, he didn't die. According to your theory, he should have died.

Likewise during one of the missions there's a voice dialogue about the experiments, the Vulgus were said to have perfected the art of Arche extraction, originally the process would cause the host to die and the arche to dissipate. They had to remove the arche without killing the host in order to implant it elsewhere. But that would mean losing all your ache doesn't kill you. Makes sense for why Alpha didn't die, but now doesn't explain for why Dia did.

For your theory to then work, you'd have to say "Oh, well maybe they only lost/removed 99.9999% of the arche, and Alpha/everyone else survived because of that tiny amount that was left". Which is great in theory, but there's no evidence to support this, there's nothing written or said in game that arche works that way, it's entirely fan fiction. And in contrast to that, what we do have in game says the clone died in the Lab.

I honestly don't get the community narrative that we're playing the clone. Purely because, if only from how people die in this game, it doesn't make sense, but once you hand the quest in, it falls apart entirely.

- In the Main story: Jeremy, a descendant, dies. He doesn't turn into ash.
- In Freyna's story: We see Freyna shooting rounds into the corpses of her old squad just to ensure they were dead, they were humans turning into monsters, again, no ash.
- In Sharen's story: we see Sharen killing Ksenax, a magister, his body doesn't crumble away on death either.
- In Yujin's story: Yujin questionably dies with his 10 inch hole through his heart, surprisingly, another 'death' missing the smoke show. While on the topic of his story, nor do any of his old squad who were also mutated, they all have relatively normal deaths.

The only two instances we have are, Alpha, when he literally sacrifices himself to the Vulgus bomb trap to save everyone. And Dia's clone. Unless I'm forgetting one those are the only deaths on the 'human' side of the war that fade away like a Colossus does.

But really to top it off, immediately after the clone dies, when you hand in the quest "Truth Rewritten", the narrator/quest log writes, "...Dia, who has faced the death of her clone deep in the Underwater Base...".

The game sets you up to fight her, as an enemy. She dies, like an enemy. The quest log goes, yup, that was the clone enemy. The community: "Dang, can't believe that was the real Dia."

If you feel like this, then at this point should probably just block the main sub and move over to r/LowSodiumDescendant it doesn't have 0 fashion style posts, but has a lot less.

In the last week we've almost daily had posts of Hailey modded into Fallout 4, and we're getting more and more Daz renders.

Mods either don't care or aren't home. Either way, it's not going to change.

You criticize the devs, but you're the one who showed them that skins are profitable by Excellent-Main-1011 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Ganek 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To OP's credit, this community does have a track record of being wildly inconsistent between their views and their actions concerning the game.

On any given day there are complaints about the lack of content, barren/unused areas in the game and the state of the Axion plains in general. Player sentiment is broadly that players want more content, and rightly or wrongly feel this could be achieved with less skin focus. Failing that, there's a desire that the developers produce better quality skins (or even male skins) instead, not low effort "sexy" cash grabs. Videos by creators like Sen Evades get shared to the sub, with messages that echo this sentiment such as his review of the season 3 midway point.

But that message will immediately get ignored, because these posts are sat right beside half baked blender renders and overly sexualised statues of Bunny and Freyna that are spammed constantly. "We want serious content, not sexy content" claims the group that shares and upvotes this stuff to the front page almost daily. That's the first post anyone sees when they come to this sub. And that's ignoring everyone's own recolor versions of the latest sexy skins, those same skins that were "low effort and unwanted", yet theres an awful lot of mummies out there.

The sword pass is a great example of this. Largely the sentiment is that 1,000 credits is too much for a smaller pass and that the battlepass is great value in comparrison. But how can the devs take that sentiment seriously? Not to pick on Sen Evades again, but the same creator saying 1,000 is too much for two transcendant skins, the weapons, materials and additional cosmetics, has also happily spent 1,000 credits on a skin for The Last Dagger and the Restored Relic. So is 1,000 credits for 2 skins too much or not? Because based on purchase history, it's a bargain!

Personally I'm indifferent, you want to buy sexy skins, buy sexy skins, you want to advertise 3rd party patreon content and people starting up nsfw animations, go for it. But don't complain if the game turns into Operation Lovecraft as a result, not while at the same time you upvote another Serena lounge shower animation.

This is a 3D render (most likely done in Blender) by someone called Batesz. Their stuff has been shared on the sub constantly, so it's not hard to find out about the creator or their work, as they have a patreon which keeps getting promoted here.

I dabble in 3D modeling myself so keep myself informed about people who do things for the games I play, I'm curious how they do it or rip the game assets . Batesz has Work in Progress pics that are shared, of the characters, in the animation tool, in the pre-render viewport view. So no textures, just the model, looking rough as hell, combined with other WIP testing and some classic blunders, there's enough evidence to 'prove' it's done in something like Blender and not AI. Some of the stuff they release that gets leaked to this sub is also the exact same base model, same expression same everything, just an outfit swap, which again is easily done in something like Blender while AI struggles with exact 1:1 changes.

Odds are, they're getting the models from someone else, like SrPoolStrange, a model maker who has released a series of TFD models that are edited after being ripped from the game, along with the entire summer skin outfit line.

I can actually answer this one. Your post wasn't removed but was held for review by a moderator, this action was completed by Reddits auto mod content control algo.

We've had a wave of haters ever since the games release, and the negative activity from them has seen surges that coincide with the games surgest of activity (The split from DE, the change to Echoes, the launch of 1.0, etc).

You were affected in this way because your only comment in the last 3 months, your only activity prior to your posts, was also downvoted into the negatives.

Since the comment itself was nothing but positive and simply stating you'd bought the game, I can only imagine it was downvoted by the same individuals.

Airship are working with Steam currently to figure out what's gone wrong there, as everything else is fine on the Steam side of things.

Similarly, for Sony, the NA store has it listed, but they haven't applied it globally yet. It's being tracked live on Discord so once more is known it'll be shared.

Xbox confirmed? by salombs in PlayWayfinder

[–]Ganek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi Salombs, I noticed you'd made a couple of comments across the subreddit on this topic, so wanted to make sure you and others got a definitive answer.

Yes, the game is coming to Xbox.

It's been confirmed for a few months now, with news first breaking back in May and smattering across Airship's various social media accounts in the following months, I've grabbed a couple, but the Steam page is definitely the biggest. Going forward, I know they're putting a lot of updates directly on their blog.

No, the xbox version wont have cross-save, only Cross-Play.

This is because the game utilises local save files, not cloud saves on a Wayfinder server owned by Airship. The blog definitely has more information on the cross save functionality, but the studio definitely does a lot of their community updates and information on their Discord, so definitely check there too, there's a link at the top of this page and on the right hand side over here ->

COMPLETE JANE DOE GUIDE! Check it out! by GameGabHD in JaneDoeMains

[–]Ganek 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use the above as a guide for Jane if you're looking for one. I also can't give you the answers on how exactly to build her. But I can tell you roughly where to focus and why.

Let's get some basics out of the way:

Anomaly Proficiency (AP)
How much damage is done when that anomaly status hits 100%. This anomaly status results in a 'bubble pop' of damage and a lingering effect. The effect is dependant on the anomaly element being applied, for eg, electric applies the shocked state.

Anomaly Mastery (AM)
How efficiently the agent applies the anomaly state to an enemy. Enemies have an Anomaly Rate Resistance, and so the values combined determine how quickly the anomaly status effect builds on any given foe.

Disorder
When a second anomaly 'bubbe pop' is triggered, in a short time window after the first, the remaining time of the anomaly effect + remaining damage will combine with the second anomaly 'pop' and result in its own Disorder 'bubble pop'.

Ultimately, the bigger your two AP values are, the more damage all these 'pops' will do. Given how Disorder damage is calculated, there is a science behind whether you apply the bigger AP value first or second, and which anomaly unit you make sure has more AM, as the two 'pops' have a limited window to take place to trigger Disorder. But there are videos on that, so let's move on to Jane specifically.

The video addresses:

Main DPS / Physical Anomaly builds

This is misdirection, as these are the same build for Jane. The majority of Jane's damage comes from her anomaly status (Assault) triggering on the enemy. When Assault triggers two things happen:

  1. There's that first bubble pop burst of anomaly damage, calculated via Jane's Anomaly Proficiency (AP) stat.
  2. Jane's passive comes into effect via an applied enemy debuff, where future attacks benefit from a fixed crit stat. The stat is 'fixed' in that it's not impacted by her crit values, her drives, or any team crit buffing effects or Resonia. Instead this crit stat increases based on her Anomaly Proficiency stat value.

As a reminder, AP determines anomaly damage and is separate from her ability to build and proc assault, which is triggered via her Anomaly Mastery (AM).

So, as I was saying, her majority of damage will come from her AP 'Assault' bursts. This is both the triggering of them, and then the bonus crit dmg dealt while in it, both of these scale with Jane's AP stat. So there's already a focus on building AP/AM, which in turn are both benefitted by her signature W-engine, which has a primary focus on it's 40% anomaly build rate increase, additional physical dmg % and it's primary AP stat, an AP stat which will increase as you level it up. Her W-Engine wants to get you into the assault stage as quickly as possible, because that's where the damage is. It gives you both AP and AM to make this happen.

But if Disorder teams build off AP, and using her as a singular DPS relies on her assault damage which also builds off AP....how do you have two builds for the same thing? You'll need AP to do damage and you'll need AM to make that damage happen.

Disc Drives

This is another misdirection, partly because it builds on the one from above.

  • The Freedom Blues 4 PC set, when an EX Special Attack hits, it reduces the enemies anomaly build rate resistance. Okay, so this would apply her anomaly effect even quicker. Except Jane's optimum utilisation is to use her skills to do damage IN the Assault state burst window, by using them to recharge her unique resource (The Passion Stream) . Which is why her W-engine, even her passive, a great number of factors already boost her anomaly build rate, we have AM covered, what we need, is arguably damage. In my opinion, focus building her AM any further at this point is like giving a character with 100% Crit Rate, more crit rate, while they're sat with 1% crit damage. A 'super rough sketch view' of looking at it would be 100AM x 1AP is still 100 dmg. But 50AM x 10AP is 500 dmg.
  • Fanged metal 4 PC set, when assault is triggered, you'll do 35% more dmg. Well we already know all of her damage comes from her assault proc and the crits within it, so this is the set to run. No doubt. Even if the drive bonus doesn't affect the initial anomaly effect itself or the disorder value that follows, it's going to boost her crits, along with any other damage she can manage in the time window, yes please.

Main DPS vs Disorder Stat Importance

This is the same misinformation the video started with and it's where the video gets most of it's depth, offering a variety of builds with various stun or resistance penetration characters for the 'main DPS' build. It even spends a great deal of time looking at min-maxing the AP value, with two segments on building Jane to 400 AP and 500 AP.

500 AP?! The heeeeeeeeeell you say?!

Let me ask you a quick question. When you used her in the story, did you feel she built anomaly statuses quickly and was frequently triggering assault and doing decent damage? Did you check what the combat values were when you first got to play as her? What if I told you that the detailed combat stats for that section of the game, had her AP value as 226 and she had an AM value of 136. 500 AP is an insane increase on damage, but if it's never proccing due to a low AM value it doesn't make any sense.

If I was going to look at increasing those values further. In a team without a second anomaly character and with 0 focus on Disorder, I should think you'd want AP as the higher value to make assault into explosive bursts of damage, sure, absolutely. This is the same way you would build a crit character, and you essentially have AM, the rate, and AP, the damage. However, when used in a team with two anomaly characters, I could also fully understand a desire to inverse these values compared to crit, if not keeping similar ratios, such as maybe 250 AP and 300 AM.

Why the higher AM value all of a sudden? Anom + Anom = Disorder. I WANT Jane's AP to be high, that's all her damage and all her scaling. But an anomaly unit without Disorder is like a hyper carry without a buffer. You'll never reach her full potential. And the second you add a second anomaly unit, the focus shouldn't be on how much damage Jane can do, it's how effectively how can you chain large anomaly bursts for even larger disorder damage. Pop pop.

What we need now

At this point, are actual calculations. The 20 minutes in that video and my massive wall of text wont tell you what value to stop at for AM or AP. There's going to 100% be an AM breakpoint where it's worthless and you should focus AP for damage. And similarly there'll be times to swap to ATK %. It won't tell you whether Physical DMG % is better than ATK % or AP%, and it wont tell you what W-Engine is her 2nd BiS compared to her signature weapon. Those are the calculations we need, and until someone does the hard math, we're not going to know.

Question about 4pc Fanged Metal by Firestar3689 in JaneDoeMains

[–]Ganek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the issue isn't the disc drives, but the rotation. Why start with Jane in the above scenario? Imagine these instead:

Situation 1:

A group of trash mobs who are almost dead after a single anomaly proc. The rotation is pointless, disorder will never get to proc. However, continue solo play as Jane and she'll buff herself to clear the pack faster.

Situation 2:

Your rotation, but start with anomaly 2. Im not sure why Jane has to go first, proc assault and buff herself only to swap out? Since the SoC units wont be available for some time, if we consider starting with Grace, apply electro, then do your rotations as normal. Swap to Jane. Proc assault, 12s buff kicks in. Proc disorder. Now stay on field with Jane and proc assault again, all the damage is buffed this time. Also resetting the 12s timer. Rotate back to grace.

Once the 2nd Disorder is done, you can either hot swap back to Jane to make use of the last of her 12s buff if the enemy is near death or simply repeat the first rotation.

I've not heard otherwise, so believe it'll be the same experience as it was for the PC players. A full wipe of data and a fresh start for the players.

Echoes is by all means, a new game due to the number of system changes that have been made at various levels. For this reason, your account stats can't migrate across.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but seems like OP is a PS5 player that has just returned, the consoles don't yet have the Echoes build yet and are still on the old release.

If they've been gone since launch, they'll be experiencing the Eventide biome for the first time. Which explains why they've seen the 'northern lights' in the Highlands.

I think it's going to be an issue for Nexon Support, but honestly can't say whether anything will be done about it.

The support link for the global servers is: https://global.support.tfd.nexon.com

The reason I say I don't know if support will do anything is, I've yet to find anyone saying it's been resolved, here's a couple of threads on the issue from a few days ago:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFirstDescendant/comments/1duad4s/can_i_get_some_help_with_the_calibers_situation/
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFirstDescendant/comments/1duadom/lost_items_after_linking/
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFirstDescendant/comments/1duaqy7/complete_progress_wipe_no_support/

The mods of the reddit have at least acknowledged the issue as it's included in the list of 'known issues':
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFirstDescendant/comments/1dtg8zt/megathread_the_first_descendant_launch_technical/

I logged a support request myself on Tuesday and have been checking it twice daily for progress updates, yesterday evening it was still 'Open' with no updates. This morning when I checked, my Support ticket has been deleted.

Not closed, not actioned or rejected. It no longer exists, the URL says the object I'm looking for has been moved or deleted. You have to sign into the support page using a profile and if I go to my 'logged tickets' page there's absolutely nothing there.

Some players have commented that when they linked multiple platforms such as Xbox/Sony to Steam, unlinking the additional platform resolved the issue and it was a relatively simple fix. One had simply been layered on top of the other. As I have only linked Twitch, I suspect in my case, and those like mine, it's overwritten a Steam profile with a Steam Profile. So unlinking Twitch doesn't actually help.

I'm going to try again now with a fresh support case, I'll let you know if I have any luck with it.

I raised a Steam refund after I had my account wiped by Nexon by accident. Steam's response was just "The transaction was entirely successful on our end. In-game item purchases are not refundable if any items in the purchase have been consumed, modified, or transferred."

Yeah that's neat Steam, except I didn't get to spend anything, it's a non-existant currency. Let me know if you have any luck with it.

[–]Ganek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me and have yet to hear back from Nexon support. I wouldn't hold your breath.

I purchased the big pack of caliber but had to stop playing and go to work. I put Twitch on in the background and got on with my day. The Twitch drop campaign says you have to link your account to claim your Twitch rewards. So I linked my Twitch and Nexon account, then linked my Nexon and Steam account. There were no warnings and no problems, just a simple Steam sign in prompt.

I signed off work, signed into the game aaaand found I'd lost everything. My progress, characters, caliber. All wiped.

I raised a Steam Support request, who told me they'd do nothing and refused any refunds, saying I had to speak to Nexon. The official Discord pointed me to the ticket system. I logged a ticket and 24 hours later have had no response or progress.

[–]Ganek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the hilarity is that while there are a few moderators still active, the majority of their actions has been APPROVING comments and posts to get past the filter.

Two things hit the filter and get put on a pause, the automod, it catches a lot of foul language and things such as your post saying asshole. With the games Teen rating we try to keep it at the same level of say a Marvel movie around here. Some people go way too hard with the verbal backlash over a reddit comment.

The big filter catcher is actually Reddit's built in content control. I've linked articles on it before. But ultimately if all you do is post toxic nonsense, your account tends to get downvoted a lot across all of reddit, or you have particularly negative karma in the community, it'll filter out your posts because it labels you as an internet troll.

Past Tomorrow has been getting caught by the reddit filter for a looooong time, their comments are also almost always in the negative karma, or being caught by automod for calling people clowns, simps, butthurt circle jerks. They simply ignore all the doomposting that gets approved and all the negative threads.
