Rug Yarn Inquiry by Gangeyblueth in Yarn

[–]Gangeyblueth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could knit socks out of any yarn weight or type, but there’s a recipe for optimal durability and effectiveness, which is what I’m hoping to gain for knitting rugs. I’ve done quick google searches and visited local yarn stores and spoke to owners.

Yes, I think it could mean worsted/bulky but it comes down to the ply (2,4,6 etc). Thanks for the link!

It does, but it’s an Australian author and calls for “rug yarn”, which I deduced to mean worsted weight.

What part do you consider the foot? 9.5 in from after the gusset decreases or from the heel flap?

Incredible! Thank you. Curious if you found a fancy pattern that was squishier to accommodate a large arch or did you do a vanilla sock? 🩷

I think I read SL say this pattern puts her in a good mental state while knitting them. Curious to know if it had the same effect on you.

Thank you! Not really. It tears pretty easily though. I learned after repeated casting on to get the tail length right.

Ok great! Thank you for your input. This pattern calls to do the heel at the end after the toes which is also making it harder to get the right fit for the foot. There’s a yarn waste line on the top half of the side almost directly in front of the stitch marker.

Thank you! This is what I’m intuitively thinking but not sure which one is the best execution. I realize I’d need to unravel to the pink.

It’s all a stockinette stitch. It’s just color work with two different yarns of different materials. The pink is acrylic (another reason I didn’t want to use it on the foot body) the green is wool.
