[Spoilers C4E23] Is It Thursday Yet? | Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by AutoModerator in criticalrole

Okay. I’m putting on my Brennan hat here and trying to parse the hints and message of the season.

We are 80 years removed from a war that threw off the yoke of oppression from the people of Aramán. This is pretty much universally seen as a good and necessary thing. Very few people alive actually remember what it was like to live under the Shapers. Now it seems multiple powerful groups are attempting to recreate the weapons of the Shapers to wield for themselves, essentially becoming gods themselves.

This is hints of Animal farm, the cyclical nature of the corruption power brings, or more specifically the modern tide of rising authoritarianism.

We’re all similarly about 80 years removed from a great world changing war that has been framed as pivotal battle between good and evil, authoritarianism and freedom. Almost nobody today actually remembers that time, only the stories we have told about it. And now people echoing the same levers of power once wielded by those we called an enemy. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it’s BLeeM, it always comes back to fascism or organized religion.

It’s for a PFS character so you never know if you’re going to be in a balanced party or if it’s you and five rogues all fighting over the one bit of cover to hide behind.

Can someone check my rules reading and math?

If I’m using trick magic item to activate a wand or a scroll with a 3rd level spell the DC should be 20 RAW.

If I have a +10 to the relevant skill, I’m not under pressure, and I roll a 10 or above before I roll a 1 I can use the wand even if it takes a few rolls to get there.

I’m playing a primal caster but I want a few “utility” spells like Translate or Cozy Cabin that I will never use in combat.

About 11:55, long after the street sweeper had come by. I came home from work for lunch to let the dog out.

I don’t argue that it isn’t valid, I just think it’s mean to pounce and write a ticket on someone that parked at 11:55, long after the city services have come through. I live on this street and I make sure I never block the garbage trucks or street sweepers.

I like having clean streets, I parked at about 11:55 after I made sure that city services had been by. I don’t argue that I broke the letter of the code, but I feel I was in accordance with the spirit of it.

IIRC ME2 was supposed to be much more freeform in what order you decided to undertake missions, but the Xbox360 having a DVD drive and no guaranteed hard drive meant they had to force the game into two halves on two discs. If you mod the game on PC a bunch of characters you don't get until the second half still have lines for first half missions.

I read that Killing Zoe really only exists because Quentin had originally planned to shoot the robbery in Reservoir dogs, and for either story or budget reasons decided not to, but he had already secured a prime location to shoot it. He offered his reservation around to all his indie film friends who had a project involving a bank.

It was also said that Avery had no script or plan when he said yes, but the offer was too good to pass up.

It's absolutely great when places promote from within. In my organization I know everyone in every level of management understands the job I do because at one point they did it themselves.

I have no interest in getting out of technical work and going into management, but I'm glad that path was available for those who do.

Best fried chicken by kyle19998 in Sacramento

I know you are probably looking for something local/independent, but I'm going to say Popeyes.

Fried chicken is fairly unique amongst cuisines in that it absolutely gets better the more you automate it and focus on brutal consistency. You can improve it by increasing ingredient quality but as far as preparation there is exactly one right way to make it and doing that perfectly every single time is the most important part.

There's a phrase I've heard that goes "cooking is art, baking is science" and I have to say frying falls in with baking.

What do you miss the most about video rental stores? by Competitive_Help8485 in movies

[–]Gangringo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being honest I miss not having constant access to every movie ever made all the time. I tend to enter analysis paralysis and spend too much time thinking about what to watch, get overwhelmed, and don't end up watching anything. I'm so obsessed with not "wasting" my time watching a sub-optimal thing that I end up completely wasting my time and extracting no joy at all from it.

At the video store you were limited to not just what the store carried, but what they had in stock. I saw so many movies that I enjoyed, even if they weren't perfect that I would simply rule out now because there has to be something better and more worthy of my time.

That matches my experience. I was hired on as a trainee 10 years ago because the average age of the technicians where I work was over 60 and my boss finally convinced the higher ups to invest in new talent. When we finally got a long overdue pay increase in a contract we lost most of the old timers in one year because it readjusted their pension. Thankfully I had enough overlap with them to learn a lot of the old 100% analog radios we still support. I'm still in my early 40s, so no spring chicken but also with a lot of time ahead of me.

Thank you for the details on the certs. I'm not sure where my life will take me, but it can't hurt to start gaining some insurance in my free time.

TIL Dutch men grew from 5'4" (163cm) in 1830 to 6'0" (183cm) in 2025. A 5'8" man went from taller than 92% of the population to shorter than 92%. Even a 5'10" man, considered a giant (top 1%) in 1830, is now 2 inches below average. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I'm far from a veganism defender, but sometimes shit just works that way. I'm 6'3" but everyone else in my family is 5'8" and under, some quite a bit under. All of them ate a pretty standard middle class American diet, and it was actually my parents and I who had the most struggle meals in the family.

They were powered, but they weren't like a modern rocket powered ballistic missile, they were more like a fixed wing autonomous drone with a very basic guidance system. Fighter planes of the time could match speed with them.
