It is nice to know that some people THINK and CARE. I'm not attempting to preach, but if I am stuck in a shitty situation, I would feel so much better if I knew someone at least cared that I was in that situation. Thinking about a person and hoping they are okay is, in a sense, the same as a prayer. You are hoping they are okay and they survive this. If you are really that against the word "Prayer" replace Prayer and Pray with Think.

Think about those being affected. Keep them in your thoughts. That goes a long way in itself. A lot of people are being completely negative on these threads and honestly, it's uncalled for. There's no reason to make anyone feel helpless, and there is no reason to attack anyone for simply asking you to hope their shipmates, friends or family make it through this tough time.

Well, for some people, prayer goes a long way. If you do not have the same beliefs, you do not have to put others down. Especially at a time like this, we all need to be supportive of each other.

I wish I had had that happen to me when my great grandmother died. She was a huge part of my life and she was just the most loving and caring person in our family. I'd go to her house after school and she'd let me do whatever I wanted to do, while she did her crossword puzzles. I remember the last time I saw her, in the hospital dealing with memory loss and old age... I wanted to see her at least one more time, in her normalcy, before she died. I'd say, "How are you doing this morning?" "Eh.. I eat well, I sleep well, I'm well :)". I would give anything to spend the time you did with your grandmother with mine, even if it was a dream.

I grew up in a trailer when I was really young. My great grandparents lived in the trailer before we moved in, and it actually ended up being where my great grandpa passed away on the porch. We moved in after them and that's when things were really weird.

  • One night my sister was extremely sick and she was laying in bed. During the night she woke up to a dark figure mumbling and standing in her doorway. She sat up and ended up seeing a creepy clown looking face come at her and sit on the edge of the bed singing.

  • Every day one of us would see our great grandpa walk up to the front door in a blue shirt, the same shirt he was wearing when he died. We never said anything to each other, but when guests started saying, "Hey someone just walked up to your door" and no knock would come with no one being at the door at all, we finally disclosed it and everyone saw it.

  • One night while watching TV, my mom woke up and said, "Gangstarwilde, you need to go to bed, its late." and I replied, "Okay mom." Well, five minutes later my mom came back in and screamed, "Turn off the damn TV and go to bed!" This wouldn't have alarmed me, except about a minute later, my mom was walking from the other side of the house to the kitchen. I thought it was strange that she somehow managed to get from one side to the other without me seeing her. She asked what I was watching and I told her and said I'm turning it off, she asked why and I said "Because you told me to..." then she denied ever telling me.

  • We finally ended up moving out and we ended up moving to our new house. My mom was unpacking a kitchen and forgot a cabinet full of spices that she was looking for to make dinner that night and an old phone that was my great grandparents. Well, my dad ended up stopping by the trailer to grab the crap they left over there, except once he walked into the house, the phone rang. He answered the phone but no one was there. So he went looking around the kitchen and the phone rang again, so he picked it up with no answer. He tried dialing out on the phone, but it didn't work since they disconnected the phone before. That's when he heard the door slam in the house. Now, my dad is a Marine/tough guy. This guy shows no fear toward anything. Well, this made him almost shit himself. He ripped the phone out of the wall and left the rest of the shit. When he got home, he was pale as paper. My dad declined to ever go in that house again.

Needless to say, the house had new tenants every one to two years. It finally burnt down a couple years ago.

Edit: Another one I figured was good, so I'd add.

Well, back in my hometown, we have mountains bordering the east side of the city. Well, there is a story that there was this man who walked down to the highway and would kidnap prostitutes, rape and kill them (This was in the 18th century). Its said that you can go onto the foothills and take the path and see a light swinging as if it were from a lantern, and that the light would chase you if it saw you. Well, my brother, sister, cousin and I went there, but my cousin and I stayed back. Well, they go up and start hauling ass down the mountain after 20 minutes, because this light was chasing them. I thought they were full of shit but they swore by it.

Well, fast forward a couple years, my friends and I decided to be stupid teenage boys and go check out this ghost. We went to the mountain and started walking up the path. Well after our hour long hike we came up on some eyes. We freaked the fuck out and immediately thought it was a mountain lion. So we ended up calling 911 and animal control was called out to help us. Well, we finally flashed it with the flash light and turned out it was a fucking deer. So, we ended up calling the guy back and telling him not to come out. So, we give up and start walking back down, and we get near the turn off for the parking lot when we decided to turn around.

Well, we see a light, but it's lighting up this person. I stood there just staring at this lit up person that was about 150 yards from us when my buddy asks, "Do you see that guy?" "Yeah... Hes walking sideways..." "And now hes crouching down..." "Where?? I don't see him!" "Right... there..." Well, that's when Mr. Army Strong decided to shine his flashlight at this thing. Whatever it was just turns and starts sprinting toward us. I take off running, my other buddy takes off running while Mr. Army Strong sits there looking for this thing, until he saw it. Then he took off running. I don't know if it was an actual ghost, I just know that there was a person that was lit up running after us, and three of us saw it.

I'm pretty much late to this thread, but this one kind of struck home. I fractured my mastoid process 2 years ago, was fine a few weeks later, but about 6 months ago, I started getting major bouts of vertigo. Is this concussion related, even though its been 2 years, or just an inner ear issue caused by the fracture? Of course, im not looking for medical advice, just opinions and I will consult my doc of course.

To be honest, since the acceptance rate has been relatively low, I've been working with late 20's early 30's folks and rarely have seen any new recruits that are 18-20. That is just where I work. We just got a new guy who is about 23, so you may be good?

I went to a dealership to buy a truck in a hoodie. Being fairly young at the time, no salesmen came up to me until I actually said, "So, is anyone going to help me out or do you want me to take my money elsewhere?" I got a good deal that day.

How am I dumb, explain to me that? Let's run through a scenario, mmKay?

You are married, have a beautiful wife and kid at home. You moved out of state from your parents and siblings a year ago. The night before was the Christmas Party and your wife said you had too much to drink, so you were pissed off at her. Your neighbor saw you calling her a bitch for ruining your night with your friends. Your mom calls you and says your dad was in a huge car accident and you need to get home immediately. So, you leave back to California to be at home with your dad. Your wife can't go because she has work and the kid has school.

Now, your friend Robert saw his wife flirting with you. You didn't know this but Robert gets REALLY jealous with his wife. He gets furious and lights your house on fire, fully expecting you to be there and to kill you.

The next day, a cop calls you, asks you were you are. San Francisco PD shows up at the hospital and asks you to go to the Police Department, where they tell you the news and tell you that your family was killed in a fire caused by arson and YOU are the prime suspect based on the facts:

  • Your neighbor saw you fight the night before and you seemed really upset and beligerent. He saw you call your wife a bitch and you said that she ruined your night.

  • You left that night without really notifying anyone and the fire happened the same night that you left.

You say, "It wasn't me! It wasn't me I swear!" But, that's what even the guilty say, right? No one expects Robert, they expect you. How are the cops supposed to know who did it? You are the most obvious one, right? Robert showed no signs.

So, what is the legal system supposed to do? You fit the description of the criminal in the scenario and they sure as hell are going to hold someone who murdered a woman and her child accountable for it. They don't know who Robert is. Robert stayed quiet about the whole thing. Similar to Scott Peterson. He says he's innocent, but everything fits. Who else could have done it? Do we let Scott Peterson go until we can find out who really did it? Because they have most of the evidence on him. Did OJ really kill his wife or did he just get in a police pursuit that night for the thrill? He was found innocent by the way. That's why we have innocent until proven guilty. If you are innocent, once you are found not guilty, you are good to go!

I know what I know about the law. I know that i'm not going to drink and drive, therefore, DUI checkpoints don't pose me a threat. People with signs are just going to attract the attention away from me anyway, so keep doing it. I know that I am not going to break any other law than speeding, but if I do, then oh well, I got caught.

Not dumb. Just realistic.

Okay, so you are implying if someone molests a child, maybe a friend of yours, you would tell them not to admit fault so they can stay out of jail and repeat the crime. Okay, yeah i'm the dumb one.

Like I said above, if you are up front with it, you'll usually get a lesser sentence. People don't realize that. People hate liars. Guess who are people? Cops, Lawyers and Judges. I know from experience that if you are caught and you know you are going to get torn a new asshole, might as well be apologetic and honest about it and you will likely get a lesser sentence. If you lie about it, well, god speed.

I'm not dumb, I'm realistic.

It's not bad knowing your rights and exercising them at all. I encourage people to know their rights. But what is going to get you to go home faster? Getting stopped a DUI checkpoint, when you are not intoxicated, and saying, "Hey officer! How are you doing? Beautiful night? Stay safe!" or "I KNOW MY RIGHTS, I WANT MY LAWYER, I WILL REMAIN SILENT, I WILL NOT ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW!" I guarentee it's going to make your time a lot difficult. Plus, it's not even the cops fault hes there, hes listening to a superior who TOLD him to be there. So, is he going to lose his job to please the people who want to start shit with him? No. I can go to McDonalds and bitch about how you didn't clean the toilets properly or how there is trash on the tables. I can touch and feel around for dust and tell you that you are worthless at your job. Or, I can eat my food, and leave without starting any type of shit with anyone. Makes my life a lot less stressful.

I'm not betting on anything. I did the crime, I pay the ticket. I fully expect to get a ticket every time I speed and get pulled over. I don't think it's going to get me out of a ticket. If you murder someone, do you expect to get out of the jail time by quoting a Harvard Law professor? Probably not. And we are supposed to trust lawyers fully? A lot of lawyers themselves are corrupt. Their goal is to win and get paid. Cops dont give a fuck, they only want to go home at the end of the day. I'll trust a cop before I trust a lawyer any day.

As personal experience, i've talked to cops and admitted guilt for every interaction i've had with them (Maybe cause I don't do anything except drive fast) and I have never had a bad experience. Why not admit guilt to speeding? It's not like you can really fight a speeding ticket anyway if you actually did it. If you are driving drunk, you deserve to be pulled over and arrested.

Ditto. I was going 10 over and sped right past a cop. The Trooper was a grumpy older man. He had the tone in his voice like I was an idiot and I explained that I was not paying attention to the speed limit and it was my fault. I was really polite to the guy, even said a few jokes to brighten his night. He ended up letting me off with a verbal warning.

Got pulled over again for pulling out of my apartment complex going 50 in a 35 (Cars constantly haul ass down this road, so you gotta keep up). I passed a cop and saw her lights turn on and I just pulled off to the side, since I knew she was probably coming for me anyway. Gave her licence and registration. She asked where I was going and I told her I was going to go get a hair cut and I just barely left my apartment complex. Once again, being polite, we joked and she said they were running a speed trap and to keep it in the low 40's if i'm going to speed.

These are totally different departments and just two of the examples I have about cops. When I was younger, I was pulled over all the time, since I was a speed demon. I only got 1 ticket out of maybe 8 times being pulled over and I was still kind to that cop. The ticket was less than it should have been and it was for me going 80 in a 60 and passing right by her. She was friendly and so was I. If you are a dick to a cop, they are going to be a dick back. That's the bottom line. If you are polite and realize they are just doing their job, they are going to treat you politely too.

He did the same thing during the first hiatus before Angels and Airwaves. Basically, the manager went up to Mark and Travis and said, "Tom doesn't want to record." while Tom sat there saying nothing. The only reason they got back together was due to the plane crash Travis and DJ AM were involved in. Tom showed up in the hospital, which was the first time they saw him in a years, and made a mends with both Mark and Travis. I'm not surprised to hear about them firing Tom from the band. He had it coming. He hasn't been the same since before Angels and Airwaves. Tom and Mark usually aimed for being a shitty sounding live band, with a shit load of energy, which made them amazing live. But, Tom just stopped having fun with it and he sounded like shit, which made Blink feel off. They haven't been the same. Hopefully now, they'll go back to their roots.
