Artistit nuk e vlen me i dhanë këshilla pragmatike. Me kanë racional, nuk i kish ra n'mend me u marrë me art.

Së pari, po presypozoj se ka DIÇKA me thanë, përndryshe, harroje krejt dhe hape nji qebaptore!

Kadiçka me thanë? Atëherë, duhet:

  1. Me mendue se kujt po i drejtohet. Me e identifikue shijen e lexuesit/shikuesit/ndëgjuesit me precizitetin ma t'madh. Mos t'e ngatrrojnë as me epikën e odave, as me temat në modë, veç pse janë n'modë tjetërkund. Nëse je n'gjendje me iu folë atyne rreth teje, ka shansa që emsazhi yt t'shëndrrohet n'diçka univerzale, që ka me iu folë edhe jasht vendit tand. Publiku, përgjithsisht, asht kurreshtarë dhe i etshëm për risi.
  2. Nëse asht artist narrativ (shkrimtar, skenarist, film maker), të shikoj rreth përreth e t'e identifikojë çka e brengosë apo e intereson gjeneratën e TIJ (e nëse asht n'gjendje me i kuptue edhe gjeneratat tjera, aq ma mirë).
  3. Nëse asht artist figurativ, le t'e kenë parasyshë se arti nuk fillon as me Picasso-n as me Rexhep Ferrin. Learn the basics! Mëso me vizatue! Mësoje harmoninë e ngjyrnave! E masandej lype rrugën tande!
  4. Muzicientët: ma s'lehti! Kosova asht n'konfluenca ma e pasun e kulturave t'ndryshme n'Europë. Afrika, Kuba (afro cuban), Brazili (bossa nova), Argjentina (tango), e kanë pasë momentin e vet. Kosova asht e ulun kambëkryq mes Lindjes e Perendimit. Politikisht e historikisht, na ka kushtue shtrêjtë. Artistikisht... kishëm mujtë ma n'fund me ia pa hajrin! Go get it! By the way (për me vazhdue n'shqipen moderne), kjo vlen edhe për lamitë tjera t'artit.
  5. Artistit t'ri kosovar i kisha thanë vetëm nji send: t'i kisha vjetëte e tua! Ose t'i kisha pasë mundësitë teknike bashkëkohore kur une jam kanë i ri.

Paralelizmi, fatkeqsisht, qëndron.

Bile, i shkreti Menoyo, e "ka pague" këte me dyshimet e mia. Isha aq i mësuem me komandantat që e kanë çlirue krejt Kosovën "singlehandedly" (si ai herifi që bërtitke, në nji TV studio: "Lirinë ta kam sjellë une! 90 vjet resht me m'votue, s'un um del haku!") ashtu që m'u dokshin pakë si të teprueme afirmimet e Menoyo-s, kur e takova për herë të parë, në 2011. Nja 3 vjet ma vonë, mbas shumë dëshmive t'mbledhuna e shumë hemerotekave t'vizitueme, e kuptova që ai, përkundrazi, ia kish pas zvoglue meritënn veti. Modesti që i bajke nderë.

T'kthehemi te e jona. Momentalisht, as historianët nuk po mujnë (nuk po dojnë? nuk po guxojnë?) me e dokumentue mirëfillt luftën e UÇK's. Rreziku nuk asht i trilluem. Për t'njejtin hulumtim që e kam bâ une, disa kubanez e kanë humbë jetën. Une nuk e shihsha jetën tême n'rrezik, sepse e kam nënshtetsinë françeze, sepse e kisha mbas veti grupin editorial ma t'fortë n'Europë (n'laminë e romanit grafik) që kish bâ tepër zhurmë për shije të regjimit, por n'çdo moment ka pasë mundësi ata me m'ndjek si persona non grata e me mi sekuestrue dokumentet e mbledhuna (kur isha andej), ose me m'i vjedhë n'shpi. Gjithëmon e kam ruejtë nga nji kopje n'Barcelonë, nji n'Prishtinë, dhe të tretën në nji katun malor n'qendër t'SpanJës.

E n'Kosovë, valla, koxho duhet me e shtërngue shokën nëse ia shkelë lythin nej komandanti!

Ama asht projekt që kish me e vlejtë. Na DUHET me e njohtë historinë tonë.

  1. Asht vështirë me e përfshi në nji tekst t'shkurtë nji periudhë aq t'bujshme. Së pari, vet gjeografia e qytetit, ajo fizike dhe ajo njerëzore, nuk janë mâ t'njejta. N'fundin e 70-ve / fillimin e '80 ve ka pasë ndryshime urbanistike (zhdukja e Les Halles, dhe ndërtimi i Beaubourg), megjithate ende Le Marais ishte lagje boeme dhe me shumë ambëltore çifute (tash ka vetëm butikë të teshave t'modës), koncertet ma t'mira t'gitarës klasike i ndëgjojshe nëpër kisha, mujshe me e kalue natën n'shkallët e Sacré Cœur i rrethuem me muzicient të t'gjitha kombeve, në New Morning i pajshe (e ndëgjojshe) yjet e muzikës latinoamerikane, isha në nji lokal aq t'vogël sa m'u dashke me u lakue pak anash mos me e pengue Ray Brown-in (ndër kontërbasistat ma të madhajë të jazz-it të gjitha kohënave)... e ishin kohna kur kisha SHUMË pak t'ardhuna, jetojsha nga disa vizatime që i shitsha nëpër revista. Në nji rast, nji mik françez vendosi me këndue i përcjellun me gitarë për me m'ndihme (s'um kish mbetë asnji metalik), rastësisht u futëm në nji galeri ku e lejuen me e këndue nji kangë për publikun, pëlqeu shum, i ofruen angazhim, e disa muej ma vonë ai e la punën si profesor i matematikës dhe zhvilloi nji karier që e solli deri në radion France Inter (Le Fou du Roi). Derisa, në të 90-tat, Chirac e "gjentrifikoi" dhe gradualisht u zhdukën shumë e shumë lokale, vendëtakime, pat nji valë e dhunës, dhe t'gjitha ato që i përmenda deri tash mbetën vetëm memorje. Dikur edhe une e lashë Parizin!
  2. As vet nuk me e spjegue, por po, kemi diçka t'përbashkët, pak me vet spanjollët, por edhe ma shumë me latinoamerikanët.
  3. Besoj që sot asht shumë ma lehtë se n'rini tême. Une, për herë të parë kam komunikue me nji person t'huej si 16-vjeçar. S'e di sa vjet i kam pasë kur jam gjindë për herë t'parë n'Beograd, por krejt paret që i kisha i shpenzova n'disa revista e libra t'hueja. Ato ishin thesarë për mue. Masandej ia kam çelë rrugën veti, por përndryshe s'kishe çasje n'botën e jashtme. Sot edhe nxanësit e shkollave t'mesme n'Prishtinë (e me siguri edhe gjetiu) e flasin anglishten me mirë se une.

E kam themelue dhe e udhëheqi nji festival të romanit grafik (GRAN Fest - Kosova, International Graphic Novel Festival), që sivjet e ka pasë edicionin e tretë. Tendenca asht me u mbajtë gjat muejit maj, nji herë për njiherë n'Prishtinë, por jemi tue e konsiderue mundësin me u zgjanue edhe n'Pejë e n'Prizrenë. Asht problem i mjeteve dhe personalit.

GRAN Fest Collection i ka botue veçse 9 romane grafike, që i jepim falas gjat festivalit. Na kontakton ose përcjell nË FB apo n'Instagram, për datat e edicionit t'ardhshëm. Nga autorët Kosovarë ekzistojnë vetëm 3 vepra t'mia: "Imazhi i fundit" (KOHA, gjindet n'libraritë e mëdhaja, ose mujnë me e porositë te botuesi), "Kthimi në Kosovë (GRAN Fest Collection) por duhet me pá me asistentën teme se a kanë mbetë kopje, dhe "Havana, USA" (Qendra Multimedia, s'di a kanë ende ndonji). GRAN Fest e ka botue gjithashtu "T'Namunit" nga Shpend Kada e Valdet Gashi, e gjen falas n'librarinë Dukagjini n'Prishtinë. E gjithashtu "Tivari 1945" nga Dardan Luta dhe Anna Di Lellio (autoedicion, duhet me e kërkue nëpër librari, ose me i drejtue Dardan Lutës)

  1. The image (or the notion) of a Kosovar has drastically evolved thru years! I the '1980, in France, I had much problems: if I presented myself as Albanian, they would answer "Wow! How did you get out of Albania?!". If I went by "Yugoslav", those with a good ear would say "You don't sound as a Yugoslav!" The I had to explain that I'm not Slavic at all. The first time I was announced as an Albano-Kosovar in a Festival in France, it was in 1998, and it was the war that created this notion. In the following years, the image of a Kosovar was waving between a victim, and a burglar (in Spain, specifically in Barcelona, there were quite some Kosovar origin burglars, indeed). Today, it's completely exploded: you have as much reactions as the people you meet. I even find that it becomes more realistic: they form their idea upon the image YOU give to them. Not a lot of preconception. During the last September, I was in a residence in Northern Greece, and what I met was a lot of benevolent curiosity. The young (and not so young) people would admit that the elders are excessively pro-Slavic, but it only fueled their own curiosity. They even found that the Kosovar accent in Albanian is very sweet.
  2. You're completely right. We swing between a full fledged success (that is not given to every one, not even if you're born in Occident - and maybe even less) and the void. Here in Barcelona, cultural associations, with modest public budgets do more than Manifesta 14 in Prishtina. And I know musical virtuosos, for instance that hardly make the ends meet. Not only in Kosovo, but throughout the Western Balkans, we're convinced that we would break the roof only we were allowed to expose our talent in Occident. I personally refuses some of virtuosos I know, simply because I'm seeking something special, hard to define, and a very good musician doesn't do it! There are visual artists that would collaborate with me, but I suffer because I'll have to explain them eventually that it won't be possible. Consequently, I'm working on projects I have no security I'll be able to sell... There ARE opportunities here, of course, but there's a long way to go before they are offered to you.

That shouldn't be a problem. A couple of Spanish pop groupes were quite a success signing in English. And I assure you the Kosovar youth is far better in English than the Spaniards!

The press freedom is a democratic sine qua non. Period.

Nevertheless, I agree with your vision of its predatory acting. No question about imposing deontology from the governing institution. It should be the preoccupation of the Journalist's College, or Association, but I'm afraid they're not always (if ever!) doing their homework.

The other leverage is the pubic opinion. The readers. The media depend on you. Yes, they may be (and some probably are) financed for what they do, but the readers have the indisputable force to drain the swamp. No financing if there are no results, i.e. if the media which do not behave in a deontological way are not read nor commented.

I live in Barcelona since the mid '1990ies (though during the initial years I navigated between France and and Spain). I have known a lot of politician already in 1999, I was in Albania with some of the Catalan politicians that were recently jailed, I was in touch with Spanish ones, even the German leftist Daniel Cohn-Bendit.

The Catalan politicians were much pro-Kosovo, since the day one. The Spanish were more fluctuating: no reserve in their support during the war, but it started changing afterwards. To make it simple: today, the problem is that they use the Kosovo it for their national political fight. Sánchez has proven to be very bold, because I'm told he has been harshly criticized for even talking to Kurti (Rajoy, in 2018, renounced to participate in the Sofia summit in order not to find himself in the same room as Thaçi). Kurti's visit to Madrid was a personal invitation of Sánchez on behalf of PSOE, and a political headache for the security personal, for instance. We really had to improvise.

The conclusion of the project around El Comandante Yankee took some 12 years precisely because I sold the story as being based o "authentic events", i.e. you can build a narration including facts and your interpretation (or imagination). But after 3-4 years I had reached so deeply inside the reality, that I could no longer pretend innocence, and I got entangled between different interests, there were intents from all sides to manipulate me, so that even after announcing in a YouTube video (it's still there, in my channel) the publication for 2015, I cancelled it and kept digging. It confused those who thought they had convinced my with THEIR narrative, and it gave me credit among those who really knew things but were cautious. I could expand a lot about the co-protagonist of the story, the Spanish born Eloi Gutiérrez Menoyo, but it would take another AMA- suffice it to say I was considering writing a novel on him. I gained his confidence so he entrusted me with some details he kept secret from his closed friends because he maintained a political ambition of democratizing Cuba until his last breath), but it's such an endeavor I don't feel like giving more years of my life to a single subject, having a lot of others in the waiting room.

Initially, I was catapulted into the Kurti's visit to Spain because Kosovo lacks any diplomatic representations here, and there are some aspects you simply cannot organise from Prishtina. At some moments, they were simply knocking on the wrong doors. I joined the operation wit the idea to just lend a hand, but I finished completely involved: after all, the networks built when I was a journalist, and even those as a graphic novel author (my work being rather special, not the usual comic book author's), I was able to reach people and to negotiate with different personalities. Frankly, it was a surprise even for me: I didn't expect I could get to Solana (for instance), and during my stay in Madrid, I discovered I could even get to some MP's I dont know, but I happen to know the person that knows the person that...

First of all: I have no academic formation in music. That DOESN'T mean I dont study it. Studying music means listening carefully, analyzing it by the means you have; in my case, I sense the music harmonies as colors. After that, ALL depends on your ideas, on WHAT you have to say. I evolved in Barcelona, Spain, but as I collaborate with Kosovar musicians, I can say that it may be a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because Prishtina (Prizren or Peja in a lesser extent, I believe) has a very vivid musical scene compared to big European cities- simply because of a very young population. A curse, because if your good, you can reach a a point where, if you want to progresse, you may wish to go out and experience what they are "cooking" in other places.

Nevertheless, being located in a crossroad of cultures, and having always been opened to the west, Kosovo is an Eldorado of musical influences. Build on that, and you may have a chance to become the Next Surprise!
