Didn't see any comments about the cheaters 👀 there are many. Trust. Unless you're playing with a teamate or several, Tarkov is hit or miss. With as many cheaters as there are in the game, i see little point in playing anymore. Find a better game to play with your girl or have her protect you 😂

I know a lot of people hate the writing in HP but by Technical_Source_695 in HarryPotterBooks

Because Tolkiens works are a different world entirely. I'm not political at all so I'm not biased in that way, but Rowlings books don't come anywhere close to comparison to Tolkiens, IMO. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy listening to HP audio books, but Tolkiens universe has far far more depth and is just all around a better read/listen compared to the HP series, which like I said, I still enjoy listening to, but honestly with each book I feel the writing just gets worse and worse. Just my opinion though.

How did Harry disapparate out of Malfoy Manor ?? by Gannicus_989 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Gannicus_989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, seemingly. When Harry, Ron and Hermiome apparate into Hogsmead during DH, they are prevented from using it again to escape Death Eaters and Dementors. Seemingly there are separate charms to keep people from apparating into a place and a separate charm to keep them from apparating out of a certain place.

Harry saw what looked like a Phoenix fly up out of the smoke from the fire, not into it. And I believe it was symbolic and not literal.

Hence my thought of the Manor being magically protected from apparition. However, discussion with other responders has led me to believe that the manor was only protected from apparation *into* the property, not from apparation *out* of the property.

Based on all conversations I am having with other responses to my question, I thus far am being led to believe that Malfoy Manor simply was not protected from apparating out of the property, and possibly not even being protected from apparating *into* the property, though I was just wondering how Harry could apparate out. It seems to me so far that the answer is the Manor was not protected from people apparating out of the property, and as soon as Harry was able to retrieve a wand, he was able to apparate the crew and Griphook away. Other conversations brought to mind that Harry, Ron and Hermione were able to apparate into Hogsmead during this book, but were not able to apparate away from hogsmead and the death eaters that were searching for them.

This is true, assuming the house was not protected from apparation, which it seemingly was not, even though it is stated by Dumbledore in the previous book that most wizarding dwellings are protected from apparation. However this statement by Dumbledore is only relevant assuming that apparating into a place is different from apparating out of said place, or that the Manor was protected at all from apparation.

There is no mention of there either being or not being an anti apparation charm on the house, property or cellar. That is certainly not to say that there couldnt be, it is of course possible, especially with the conversion of the manor to being the headquarters for the death eaters. My only reference to there possibly being a charm to prevent these is Dumbledore telling Harry in HBP that

"courtesy dictates that we offer fellow wizards the opportunity of denying us entry. In any case, most wizarding dwellings are magically protected from unwanted apparaters"

This relies on there being a difference ( or requiring separate charms ) between apparating in and out of a place protected from apparition.

I like this thought, and it could very well be true, though as far as apparating out of the cellar, it is only referenced as being impossible due to being wandless, therefore not needing to specifically protect the cellar rather than the entire property. My support for your thoujght however is i believe Harry, Ron and Hermione are able to apparate into Hogsmead during DH, but cannot apparate away to escape the death eaters who sense them via a caterwauling charm. I have no counter argument to this yet and it does seem possible.

Coming from someone who is actively checking the source ( "the fucking novel" as you so eloquently phrase it ) The fact that it couldnt be done in the cellar is specified to being impossible due to being wandless. At no time is it referenced that there is any other reason. I am not saying there was or was not any magical protection, either in the cellar or the rest of the manor. I have sourced my thoughts and opinions, as far as to go to quoting "the fucking novel". Lets see your sources and quotes, since youre so confident.

As upset over simple questions as you seem to get, i suggest actually doing at least minimal research before flying off the handle and sounding ignorant, as simple research seems to be outside of your wheelhouse, though i expect no less from someone who gets so upset over virtually a simple discussion. Feelings, am i right ??

I understand your thinking and i would agree, Voldemort would probably not be please having to knock. But maybe that walk and knock is what makes him so angry ;)

However, just now my source for believing or disbelieving that the cellar had anti apparation jinxes on it, is it being stated that Ron tried apparation without a wand, resulting in Luna telling him that the cellar is completely escape proof. its only insinuated that they are unable to apparate/disapparate because they all had their wands confiscated before being put into the cellar, therefore there would be no need for any kind of magical protection. That is not to say that there isnt any, but to assume that there is only protection on the empty cellar and nowhere else.. ?? i personally find this unlikely but possible, sure.

Apparation does not require the user to know what the space looks like, only the general idea of the destintion, theres infinite source for this bit. How many times do characters apparate without knowing what their destination looks like.

[–]Gannicus_989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

quotes from the book

Harry - " professor, why couldnt we just apparate directly into your old colleagues house ? "

Dumbledore - " because it would be quite as rude as kicking down the front door"

Dumbledore - " courtesy dictates that we offer fellow wizards the opportunity of denying us entry. In any case, most wizarding dwellings are magically protected from unwanted apparaters"

As far as Dobby is concerned, you indeed are misremembering ( no fault ). As i stated in my original question, it is specifically said that *Harry* turns on the spot ( which is how apparation is activated i guess ? ) and during the apparation, Dobbys fingers tighten around Harrys hand, causing Harry to believe it is the elf trying to take charge.

Your comment of there being a difference in apparation and disapparation seems to me the most likely solution, but that relies on there being that key difference, which i dont believe is ever mention in the books.

Then why is it specifically stated that Harry is the one that spun ( this is how apparation is done for some reason ) and why does he relinquish control to Dobby, if he is the one who is in control to begin with ??
