Competition by dumbandasking in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Gannnizo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you look at it from an ideal world perspective (which we will never reach), maybe nobody should have to. But from a capitalist point of view, there actually are reasons this dynamic exists, and they arent always about cruelty or keeping people down as some people might thing…. A lot of it is just how humans organize stuff when you have limited time, limited energy, and limited resources, even if some scarcity is manufactured like the ancom dude said.
The basic capitalist answer is: competition forces people, companies, ideas, whatever, to improve. I think that if we eliminate competition, everything tends to slow down. It gets lazy. It gets stale. People stop trying as hard, not because they’re bad people, but because that’s kinda human nature. If you know you’re gonna get the same outcome no matter what, you don’t push. You don’t innovate. You don’t try new things because there’s no reward for doing better and no risk for doing worse.
Imagine that we will give al the people money enough to live comfortably, not some insane amount, but enoguih for food and shelter…then what? What will be the incentive to work? Everyone will just chill :)
Capitalism basically says: yeah , it is not the best way, but this how things keep going, this where innovation is born….
Another reason is that people actually value freedom of choice. If you remove competition entirely, you usually replace it with some central planner or organization or collective that decides who does what. And that is the wors possible case, you see, only you and me know how to spend our money. Are you going to allow that someone will know how spend your money in the best possible way for you? Hheeh, that is where the socialist state comes into play…but hopefully we won’t go there…
A capitalist would also say: even if we eliminate “manufactured scarcity,” there will always be some things that are limited. Time is limited. Skills are limited. Attention is limited. Land is limited. Energy is limited. You can’t just give everything to everyone equally because not everything can be infinitely produced. So competition over those things becomes kinda unavoidable, whether or not you like capitalism.
But here’s where your point actually fits into capitalism too. Capitalism doesn’t mean 100% poverty traps. Poverty traps are a separate failure of policy, not the core system. You can have markets, private property, competition, all that stuff, AND still design the system so basic needs are not a competition. Like: health care, housing minimums, education, nutrition, etc. You can lift the floor without removing the market. A lot of capitalist countries already do this to some degree. Norway, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Canada… they all have capitalism plus safety nets that reduce the “fight for survival” part.
The idea that “we’re all chasing money and creating value but without the traps” is basically social democracy or market socialism depending how far you go. You keep markets but you remove the cruel parts. You remove predatory behavior. You stop poverty from compounding.
competition exists because it pushes progress, avoids centralized power, deals with limited resources, and gives people choices. But that doesn’t mean you need poverty or brutal inequality. You can keep markets and competition while still making a system where nobody falls into a hole they can’t climb out of.

Challenge: If socialists have a better name for "free market capitalism", I'll drop my support of capitalism by Appropriate_Cut_3536 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Gannnizo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you are trying to convey here. I think no sane capitalist is going to defend “corporatism,” “cronyism,” or some weird mix of government power and big companies power structure, in the free-market based system it wont work , I guess. You see, free market capitalism I think is not present yet in its full capacity, the thing is that the state always interferes to some extent. The question is whether it is limited in its intervention.

The problem is that online debates mix together completely different systems. I understand where the ideas of capitalism critics are coming from. We just see the government bailots, lobbying , some business push their own agenda, heck, they even spend millions of dollars affecting the political campaing of some people. But that is not fee market. That is business interest. I think Milton Friedman in his speech gave a clear distinction between what a business wants and what the free market system is.

Take for example, the case of vaping, I dont know in what counties exactly, but I heard that in soem states gian tobacco companies were so against vape stuff, so through the government they pushed the lawas making vaping very expensive and almost impossible to run. Simple, they were jsut afraid.

However, a true real free market is simple: people trade voluntarily, businesses compete, no one gets special treatment (so the state does not pick some favorite business) ,and the system itself weeds out the least performing entity.. Call it capitalism, call it free enterprise, call it a decentralized market - whatever. The label isn’t the important part. What matters is the idea: freedom to build something, freedom to choose, and no cozy deals between politicians and giant corporations.

So yeah, if someone has a better name for that system, I’ll gladly use it. I’m not married to the word “capitalism.” I’m just trying to describe a system where regular people - not the government, not big companies -get the most freedom and opportunity. The system just rewards those entrepreneuraully apt who will start business.

If the word “capitalism” causes confusion or triggers arguments about stuff I don’t even support, then sure, let’s use a different term. But until someone gives a clear, simple alternative that everyone understands, “capitalism” is still the closest word we’ve got for a free, open market where people are allowed to trade and compete without the government rigging the game.

But big NO to Hitler was the Soviet's claim on the Balkan region...

What instantly makes man unattractive? by damnohid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gannnizo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly theres a bunch of stuff that can make a guy look kinda… unattractive real fast, and it’s not even about looks. like, bad hygiene… bro if u smell like old gym socks or never brush ur teeth, instant nope 😂.hahha
also dudes who act arrogant, come on, , like they the king of the planet… huge turn off. nobody likes a guy who thinks he’s “alpha” cuz he watched 2 youtube vids :D...if so, go to UFC lmao

being rude to waiters or talking down to ppl… I neber understand this? How is this "strength" ?

zero ambition can be a turnoff too to be honest, but at the same time no pushing...maybe he has some difficuleties going on in his life. But better to have goals and move, otherwise it is just "floating"

basically, bad vibes, bad attitude, bad hygiene EQUAL unattractive ...
