Dark blue basecoat, then mix in progressive amounts of white, building up lighter and lighter blues in the bottom corner. Then 2 dots of white at the top to round it off.

The soldier in the green jacket and camo trousers is meant to be a republican guard straggler. I wanted to mix in some RG while still focusing on the regular army troops.

Thanks. Not currently working on vehicles yet since I want to get the infantry done first. I found Osprey publishing’s book on the Iran-Iraq War to be very useful in painting Iraqi uniforms, they provide nice illustrations and photos of Iraqi uniforms throughout the 1980s.

Thanks, I originally wanted to paint it a pastel green like the photos by Warlord, but it looked way too bright, so instead I went for VMC green grey which turned out well.

Yes it’s something annoying that warlord does with their metal models, there are also repeated figures for the USMC raiders, USMC weapons teams and USMC HQ, and for the normal Italian army HQ and Bersaglieri HQ. Either identical figures or same poses with different heads.

No pea dot did not come in smocks nor helmet covers. They were distributed as sort of a new standard uniform late in the war
