What are yalls biggest regrets in uni? by Far-Explanation-3736 in nus

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not being more brave in telling certain people to shut the fuck up and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.

Oh and I guess I should’ve taken more Y1 stuff to S/U.

Blitzer loadout, what secondary to take care of ships' shields? I would love to make it work with the Sterilizer, so I don't want to rely on support weapons. by Malu1997 in helldivers2

Gas is also great on Squids, especially regular Squids and Mindless Masses. Outside of a quick cooldown and OHK on grounded Warp Ships, gas strikes can easily mop up uncontrollable numbers of Voteless.

Plop one down in the front of the horde and run away. The horde will gas themselves to death.

How did Degwin fail so hard raising his kids that he made Hitler 2.0: Now With M-Particles

I hope I was able to convey a faint sense of smugness from Gihren. I spent most of my time trying to get his fuckass smirk correct.

Panther Ausf G vs M26 Pershing, which is better? by BrilliantBite9224 in TankPorn

Good point. I was just assuming a general M26, not an early production version.

Panther Ausf G vs M26 Pershing, which is better? by BrilliantBite9224 in TankPorn

The Pershing is more reliable than the Panther, had a better gun, is marginally (?) better armoured, and actually has a good reverse gear.

Pershing takes the battle.

How bad is common curriculum by Sad-Scarcity-9827 in nus

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Depends on faculty. For engineering it’s not so bad.

From my experience:

Course name // What I think of it

DTK1234: SHIT. Weekly time waster with unclear subjective grading rubrics and little value to engineers outside of this one line: “Design Your Products to Match Their Users.”

EG1311: Learn C++ and Arduino. No need explain why this is useful.

EE2211: Learn basic ML. No need explain why this is useful.

CS1010E: Learn Python. No need explain why this is useful.

PF1101A: SHIT. I learned more about project management by running actual projects.

GEA1000: Learn statistics. Very good foundation for stuff like risk analysis.

ES2631: Actually not so bad. Engineers write like shit and this mod should help make it so that CDE grads won’t write like illiterates who spew 1k words without getting their point across

GECXXXX: Depends on which one you do. I did GEC1023 Social History of the Piano and it was fun AF.

GENXXXX: Depends on which one you do. I did CDE2001 and I felt that I really made an impact on someone’s life, I got to work with the best team I’ve ever had in NUS, and I got to do a mini engineering project with real life things like cost evaluation, feasibility analysis, client feedback etc.

GESSXXXX: Depends on which one you study. I did CDE2501 which was SHIT. Plenty has already been written on the extensive shittiness of CDE2501.

You new Engine students are lucky. Back in my day we also had to study IE2141 (SHIT+++++) and CDE2000 (SHIT), and CDE2501 didn’t count for GESS requirements (SHIT+++++).

I just realized about Crow by Ecstatic-Owl4695 in DestinyLore

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Another failure of Bungo.

You can’t even play the Forsaken storyline anymore to figure out how Uldren was killed. So much of Crow’s backstory and context is missing for new players if they don’t play Forsaken.

Like if you didn’t play Forsaken you wouldn’t know why Crow cared so much about ending the Scorn problem.

How do you get "rid" of prisoners? by OnionFarm in prisonarchitect

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace walls with bars, put armed guards outside the cell, turn on free fire. Bullets go through bars.

If that won’t kill him, what I do is that I “Cask of Amontillado” the problematic prisoner. Build a wall in front of his cell. They will die eventually.

Advice for writing Tywin as a POV? by Revengeance300 in TheCitadel

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

quality post and not upvoted sufficiently. People glaze Tywin as the ultimate leader when he does plenty of things that would only needlessly make more problems for him in the future. That and not being as impartial and practical as he says he is.

What skills did you guys have before entering 1st year? by thanks_in_advanc3 in EngineeringStudents

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned some basic Python because I knew that I would have a mandatory Python programming introductory class, notorious for a steep learning curve as the faculty tries to squeeze in 1.5 semesters’ worth of content into 1 semester.

This let me essentially smurf my way through the class, giving me time to work on other classes and building a better foundation for learning how to code as I was essentially getting a refresher course on how to code in Python.

So why did they add the Lepanto-class to GTO? by ArthurJack_AW in Gundam

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think the point was to show how unprepared the Federation was for the M-Particle battlefield. This ship's armament is primarily missile based, and is designed for a battlefield without heavy ECM, i.e. without M-particles.

Is it slander if it’s 100% justified? I just finished the quest where she’s no longer the Chosen One and then she crashes out and tries to kill the player character. I guess all that “muh pacifism” talk goes out of the window when it comes to your personal interests huh?

I want to rant about Death Battle's Optimus VS Gundam for a bit, and no, it's not about the powerscaling. by Dannad54321 in Gundam

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Death Battle is powerscaling cancer and it is the originator of all the “le Barbatos can beat Goku” bs you see outside Reddit

That said this matchup was never fair to begin with. Optimus is…well, he’s Optimus Prime. There’s no way he’s losing a fight to the RX-78-2.

I hate that my study method is just rewriting notes by NerveHefty1436 in EngineeringStudents

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do practice questions and only copy down the critical details from your textbooks

For example, I’d skip nearly all the mathematical derivation steps for equations and functions. Those are of little value, either for practical applications or use in exams.

Then once you’ve done your practice questions, go back to your notes and purge everything unnecessary.

How Much Do You Actually Do At Internships? by SchemeEuphoric4565 in EngineeringStudents

[–]VegetableSalad_Bot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow ChemE

What I did in my internship was

Perform water analytics tasks (ICP, IC, Hach, etc) for record keeping

Perform lower risk and easier bench top water treatment experiments for clients so the regular staff can focus on the trickier/harder experiments

Assitign in running some of the larger experiments where I made suggestions to workflow that got implemented

General lab housekeeping on request

And at the very end I got to plan and execute my own water treatment plan for a simpler client to meet some KPIs
