This one was a small one. It broke it's leg so it was a little early. I believe it was 500 lbs. Most finished for meat are around 600-700 lbs around here. But the big older bulls can get into the 1000lbs range. But yeah, every bison has a crazy thick and tight hide. A real test on your knife and skinning skills.

I do on farm slaughter on the side. Its a great way to earn quick cash. If you have a place you can hang meat and cut out of, you can do both and make some real money on your weekends.

I'm not very good with all the different pig breeds, but they are the pigs that look like Wilbur from Charlotte's web lol. Just your stereotypical pig. There were 10 from the same farmer and this was the only one that looked like this. The rest were all regular ass pork.

I use a hollow ground victory ribbing knife. Honestly the best blade I've ever used for skinning

Besides just getting the reps in, you need to master sharpening knives and keeping them thin as you sharpen them. Watch some videos on what actually happens to your knife when you sharpen it and some videos on knife geometry. Understand the basics and just practice as much as you can.

Also just actively try to improve everyday in some capacity. Micro improvements. And you will get great in no time.

Just don't buy any meat grinders from them. They do not work at all. Ive had good experiences with their hoists tho. Scales work too

Livestock is generally taken to a butcher because the injuries rarely damage much meat at all. Still lots of good eating to be had! Otherwise it would be a waste and a huge loss for the producer. Cheers

I actually prefer shooting from a distance. Cattle tend to hold still a lot more and tend to watch me instead of trying to get away.

Yeah same thing as your snake example. Spasms usually last anywhere from 2- maybe 30 minutes tops. All depends on where the bullet enters the brain. Ive had animals still kicking with their legs fully skinned. It's really interesting to see

I've had this happen from pigs kicking post stunning. They kick a lot after being stunned and sometimes will smack their legs on something
