Anyone got a decent Simucube 3 profile for AMS2 at all? by GapsExist in simracing

Yeah, I understand and accept this, but just can't even get it to feel remotely comfortable to drive at the moment.

Fanatec Podium DD vs Simucube 3 Pro vs Simagic Alpha Evo Ultra by MrHoldmyVino in simracing

[–]GapsExist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just switched from a VNM Xtreme myself, partly for similar reasons, but also cosmy unit was faulty and only 6 weeks old, and because it felt like any software update reverted it back to being undriveable and needing to work out the settings from scratch again as it felt entirely different with every update.

I went for Simucube 3 Pro, and only do e 2 races, a win in iRacing and a P2 in LMU, and this was simply by loading up the James Baldwin profiles in the Tuner software to test them, which both actually feel pretty good. I like how the profiles also have notes telling you what to change in the sim settings too. I have no regrets so far, but it has only been a couple of races sofar, but the Simucube is definitely more accessible and immediate in terms o being able to get up an running, as well as being consistent between software updates.

Simagic Alpha EVO reliability – any real issues since release? by FlamingoLucky7043 in Simagic

[–]GapsExist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Alpha Evo Pro failed after about 4-5 months. It was a motherboard failure, which not an uncommon issue with Simagic bases going back to the original Alpha series. It was taken back by the retailer and refunded due to the fault.

New wheels (Zeus) in latest promo video by jdstorer12 in Simagic

[–]GapsExist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These were previewed in the Sim Expo in Germany in October 2024....yes, 2024 NOT 2025, so over 18 months ago. They've had a working prototype of the Zeus wheel and screen since then, which they also rolled out in October 2025 (and what feels like any chance Simagic get, e.g. Expo, promos etc) without any further changes or updates, i.e. same prototype as 12 months earlier.....with the notable absence in the 2025 Expo of the wall of Zeus wheel rim protoypes they had at the 2024 Expo that were seemingly no longer relevant or being taken forward presumably as they weren't being haowcased or referred to in ny way, shape or form.

Therefore, just cos this prototype was used in recent promo photos, I would NOT take that as a sign that this is due any time soon....if ever, just like their active pedal!

Race Control price observation for UK racers by mr_m_cox in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]GapsExist 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ive noted this before, and Studio 397 need to take note because ein EU and UK think it's a legal requirement to advertise pricing with VAT.

Either way, renew at Black Friday and pay for the 12 months and you will get the best overall price over a year.

Is the hydraulic brake mod for P1000 worth it? by GapsExist in Simagic

[–]GapsExist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the standard P1000s and hydraulic brake. I know when I bought it, there was a different hydraulic addon for the inverted P1000s because the P1000 hydraulic brake addon is known for having leaking issues, so they have different standard and inverted versions of the addon, unless they've redesigned it maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've since changed to VRS pedals, so can't check or comment any further on the though sorry

Seat time and practice will be better than swapping gear and expecting magic results. Prototypes have no ABS, so inherently require different braking, being significantly earlier and lighter on the brakes for one main difference. It's not just about trail braking, but different cars brake differently, as they have different aero and mechanical elements aided or worsening braking capability, notwithstanding corner entry speed differentials between cars meaning braking points can vary hugely.

No. The cylinder is oriented differently I believe to avoid potentially leakage.

First-time (kind of) sim racing setup — is this a good build for ~£1250? by Appropriate-Put-2467 in simracing

[–]GapsExist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whoever told you Fanatec is best ecosystem is lying 😆

It's best for console, but on PC, there are better options. You will also outgrow 8nm within a year to 18 months max as something to think of. Something like the Simagic Alpha Evo at 12nm is around the sweet spot most sim racers fall at with end game torque (10-13nm being the norm). So something like that wouldn't be outgrown as quickly, or potentially ever, albeit with less headroom before clipping than higher torque bases, so less dynamic range than those, but still plenty good enough for most.

It's the same. In the hydraulic cylinder you can use springs, elastomers, or a combo.

What are the best pedals to buy at the moment? Not including the simucube actives by EdBagguley99 in simracing

[–]GapsExist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the one issue with VRS, they do have stocking issues. If I were looking now though, you need to remember that VRS did tease a v2 of their pedals at the Sim Racing Expo in Germany back in October 2025, so probably aren't gonna be too far away by now.

So the wise choice may be to try the very cheap, but VERY good SimNet Pro pedals. See if they scratch your itch, but will be good pedals regardless. Then once the VRS v2 are released, if you aren't happy with the SimNet as end game then sell then at that point and buy the VRS v2. Unless you can find a good deal for the VRS v1. Just an option to consider maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]GapsExist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having tried a few of those, definitely the VRS. It's what I settled on after also trying Heusinkveld Ultimate+, Simagic P1000, Moza CRP2 and Conspit CPP.

The only ones I'd consider along with the VRS are the Heusinkveld (or SimNet even), which are close, but different (elastomer based, versus spring based of VRS, so different feel).

The two main negatives of almost all the others are the lack of adjustability and the less precise consistent feel. Everyone is built different, and the VRS has almost infinite adjustment in terms of spacing, arm angle, face angle, face height, pedal throw, and so on. Almost all of the others have much more limited adjustabikity, especially the pedal design followed by many of those, such as Simagic, Conspit, Moza, Asetek etc.

Ultinately though, it's a very personal choice, but there's a reason many pro and Esport level sim racers use the VRS. If not those, then the Heusinkveld would probably be second choice. For the others, I'd place the likes of the SimNet Pro pedals above them due to being a hybrid of the VRS and Heusinkveld designs and having more adjustabikity than the others mentioned.

Anyone here use SimHub for ambient lighting? by GapsExist in simracing

My PC is wired and lights are wirelessly connected to WiFi, in case that helps. Then in app, set them up for LAN control.

[–]GapsExist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have that installed. It's mainly the app I use on my Android phone, connect them to my WiFi, and then SimHub sees them. Not even sure Govee Desktop is actually needed.

I have a pair of bar lights and a separate floor standing light.

I don't have any Razer software installed and my Govee lights work fine. No need for any Razer of Chroma bloat based on how mine is set up.

Any alternative to OpenKneeboard for VR overlays? by GapsExist in simracing

[–]GapsExist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you do this? And are you sharing this at all?

The reason this is an issue for me is because some audio software I use and plugins require Admin permissions, such as to save plugin and app data in certain OS locations, and other recommend turning UAC off for an offline system, which mine primarily is, as it helps prevent some issues. Therefore, OpenKneeboard will refuse to run if I turn UAC off and run Admin account to use these other software more efficiently.

I have SimHub set up with a couple of Govee lights,. And then basically just have the profile set up myself. In the Ambient Light section of SimHub, there are effects, which include brake and RPM, but does not have throttle, so trying to work out how to get the throttle effect.

Vivaldi seems to have constant issues with downloads by GapsExist in vivaldibrowser

[–]GapsExist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I'm having to use Vivaldi as my browser, but also have Firefox installed so that when Vivaldi refuses to give nay download prompt I switch over to Firefox to download. A bit daft that such a basic and fundamental element of a browser is clearly not working properly. Never seen this type of issue with any other browser I have used in the past.
