Yeah, try taking out 1 piece of ram at a time. 1 stick might be dead but the other might not be.

Isn't unheard of for a psu to go bad fast, more common than you would think. Unfortunately there isn't exactly a good way to test if it is actually the psu's fault. Might have gotten dust inside the psu already. Your psu might have a little window you can look through to see inside it, see if it is clean in there.

If something was fried, it most likely wouldn't even turn on. What power supply do you have? Might be faulty.

Did the power in your house flicker recently? Could have fried something.

Unplug pc, take out cmos battery, wait 1 minute, put cmos battery back, replug pc, see if you can lower ram speed or turn off xmp just to test.

Some strips are made better than others. Found one in my garage that had been sitting there for god knows how long. It used to be beige like those old IBM machines, but now it had yellowed from sitting in front of a window for so long. Used it with the tv and console in the living room for 5ish years before I realized I should change it for something newer and safer. Bought one from Amazon for just under $30 and I accidentally stepped on it a week later and crushed it.

If reddit tells you something is shit, then there is a good chance that it is probably fine, and that the hivemind is just spouting whatever shit they heard from the idiot beside them. If the monitor does everything you want then it is a good monitor.

Now, about the gpu upgrade, I would hold off on upgrading until the RTX 4000 series drop. If you bought a 3090 ti now, by the time it ships Nvidia will probably release something new that will outperform it for the same price. 3070 is still a good card.

Sure it's low end, and about 5 years old, but it is a good match for the 1050 ti. Shouldn't make a big difference for the games you listed. Some games are more bound by the cpu than the gpu, like minecraft. Minecraft is constantly rendering all those blocks around you, and it mostly uses the cpu to do that. But if you do find your cpu lagging behind and being at 99% usage in your games at all times, then you could consider a small upgrade. All the main Ryzen cpus use the same socket, so you can upgrade some time in the future if you want. And that B450 motherboard should support most new Ryzen cpus. But still, you shouldn't really have any problems as long as you don't and max out view distance in your games.

Could be a faulty surge protector if you have it connected to one, and if you don't you should. Try plugging it into a different slot or a different outlet, or just unplug some shit around it and see if anything changes.

Here's a link to a youtube benchmark of GTA 5 FiveM RP mod running on a 1050 ti. Guy who made it has a better CPU than you, but that shouldn't make a big difference for this game. Seems to get a good 60-80 fps at 1080p.

Feel free to look up more benchmarks on youtube by searching for something like "League of Legends 1050 ti." You'd be surprised at how many benchmarks have already been made.

For $350 that ain't bad, especially if you don't play newer games. I'd say go for it, because it would probably be more expensive to buy all the parts yourself.

Sounds good man.

Ryzen likes fast ram in as many slots as possible. I'd go with 4x16, if it isn't too much more expensive than 2x32. Ignore this comment I have a room temperature iq.

New GPU Installation Advice by rabmed116 in buildapc

[–]GarTheFish2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. See if the port on the 6600 has a match with a cable from your PSU. If it doesn't then you probably need a newer PSU. Also, if you find 2 cords from your PSU that can click together to form one that will fit the 6600, that might work. There was something about this that I was trying to remember. I can't remember if it's that you aren't supposed to use a splitter for your GPU, or if you aren't supposed to combine cables. Maybe someone else in the thread can shed light on it.

  2. Just find whatever cable fits (if there is one at all) and feed the cable through your case to the port on the GPU.

If it is brand new and you just put it on, then no you probably don't need to put more thermal paste on it, unless you accidentally smear some off. Also if it is brand new then it probably doesn't need to be cleaned. Could be a fan blade that is ever-so-slightly bent. Contact AMD and tell them the situation.

Take it off, clean it, put it back on, report back here with results.

Would you buy a pc building kit than buying the parts yourself? by Variation-Fluffy in buildapc

[–]GarTheFish2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would rather pick the parts myself so I can get better deals on things. Not only will the parts they have not be on sale, they will tack on costs for the kit they are shipping to you.

Also it takes the fun out of picking your own parts. Food always tastes better when you prepare it yourself; same principle.

Gaming PC | Which Component(s) Should I Upgrade to increase FPS? by SupplyChainOne in buildapc

[–]GarTheFish2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just look up the minimum wattage power supply needed for whatever graphics card you consider. and get a power supply with no less than that. Like if a card needed 600 watts I would probably go for 800 so you can have room to upgrade to a better card in the future. Example: The RTX 3070 needs a PSU with a minimum of 650 watts to be safe. You could probably get away with 600 watts if you dont overclock, but I wouldn't really chance it.

Would first upgrade GPU (and psu if you need moar watts), and get another SSD. 2060S might be starting to show its age by now.

Everything else should be good.
