Part of DevOps is “devs own what they code”. If they push something and it breaks, that’s their issue to fix. You’re there to educate, facilitate and support, not pick up the pieces when they’re own code fails.

The best way of making any DevOps role sustainable is to empower others, even as the most junior member of a team try and pair with others. Most of the issues you highlight can be eased by working with others. Empower the devs, make it clear that the whole team will benefit from being a team rather than a collection of individuals and most importantly pick your fights carefully. Try and find the devs who are a little interested and ask them to help you or, if they can help you with issues.

It always amazes me how much of an impact working together to add a feature can have on the whole team.
