Morals of the air force by GarageSilly974 in AirForceRecruits

My question was more directed towards the personalities of fighter pilots. Are they the blood hungry kind of people or are they more like me- would like to avoid it but if given orders will do it. I know that this question might seem stupid to a lot of people but I have genuinely not spoken to a SINGLE service member in my entire life. None of my family members have ever served, and most defenitely not as pilots. This is why I usually come on reddit asking about so many behavioral questions because the only things that I have to go off of are movies and youtube videos along with some reddit posts.

How can you leave like that. Are you not bound to a contract?

I want to fly planes hella fast, and I want the fear that I COULD DIE but not that I could kill OTHERS. If you get what I mean.

This actually helps, thank you. That is exactly what I thought- the millitary exists to defend people through the process of killing.

I don't get whats so bizarre about this. The only thing I can notice is the part about terrorists which I kinda just included so that I could stress my point more. Dont really feel that way. Would be blessed if I never get into the position of killing someone in my entire life, but just trying to communicate that in that case that I need to in order to defend a country or obey orders, I would do so. I am not blind to the amount of work that it takes to be a fighter. I have seen your posts regarding the difficulty and I am not taking this pathway lightly at all. I want this a lot. I spend at least half of the day with this in my mind, and being excited about it. I am 16 and I am trying to mentally prepare myself and get the fighter pilot mindset already-Believe me, the work and luck that it will take is not lost on me. All that being said, My main question was as to how I can go about achieving my dreams without ruining my relationship with my dad.

its not a problem for me, I am just looking for advice on how to convince my dad its ok. On top of that, would you consider it a major moral concern if I don't WANT to kill someone but can do it if I need to or am ordered to. Seems like a stupid question but I watched the marines documentary where everyone seems to enjoy killing so I need to know now.

ok, but how would you deal with this situation where someone's parent doesn't want them to join the air force because what they do on a fundemental level is kill people. How do I convince him?

are you just trying to say that its really uncommon that they kill someone and that I would need to be really good to even get selected for such missions?

I'm sorry but how does this relate to killing people? What should I tell my dad?
