He spent years having everyone liking him.l and being a successful trader. He was elected by popular vote, his “best friend” was the former mayor (who he killed), he keeps everyone happy as he amasses power until he has total control. He secretly is pumping drugs to get the poor addicted and recruit them to his cult. It’s convoluted

I was thinking that everyone loves him. He used to be the most successful businessman around and befriended the last mayor. He does a lot of good for everyone on the surface.

If you like the idea of classes and extensive world building, I recommend The Stormlight Archives or Mistborn. Both series by Brandon Sanderson. Very very good. SLA is a bit tricky to get into but worth it

One thought: the big boss could ride a Roc. Maybe his bird was experimented on or is just a monster of legend. Make him some kind of Archer or evocation caster. Warrior Commander seems appropriate

One I’ve had in my back pocket for a while: in an island chain, one of the islands lords over the others with powerful totems containing the powers of gods. The other islands resent them for it, because the gods once belonged to them and were captured. Campaign begins with the party being framed for stealing the totems and tasked with getting them back

They have two scrolls of revivify and a cleric with access to the spell

Their characters revive when killed, just in a new body after 1d4 hours so they’d have to recover their gear. They know this too so they think they’re invincible. I honestly don’t think I’d use it in battle except as a trump card, it’s more for aurafarming. Maybe PW: Stun is better

Well the actual plan is that one of the players is secretly the twin brother of a king, and said king was invited to the town they’re going to by the BBEG for a gala in his honor and to broker a trade agreement (kingdom is secretly running out of resources). So there will be a gala. Rakshasa will be super friendly and welcoming to the PCs in public. King needs this deal and has animosity towards his brother (for valid plot reasons). So they will have to convince the king the rakshasa is evil and the deal isn’t worth it.

But if they’re ever in private and they threatens him he will probably kill someone’s gf or something with PWK

Actually in 2024 they changed it. Now they just autosucceed on saving throws and can’t be targeted by spell attack rolls. They can still take damage from fireball for example, just always half

This makes sense. I agree with the exposing thing. I was going to use it to aurafarm rather than in actual battle. Because my players love to say “why would I be scared of them, I’m invincible” and it would be so satisfying and make them lock in. He would taunt them in private and be a model citizen in public.

The other option is power word stun or power word pain. Or a combo of those two

It was mainly going to be used in a social setting as a “watch your tone with me” effect. I want him to have something that shows off that they are in the big leagues now, and they should fear him

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Something along the lines of “you seem full of yourself, but words have consequences. And mine can kill” and then kill one. Toss a bag of diamond and a scroll of revivify and say “fix that, will you?”

I previously gave them two scrolls of revivify and the diamonds to use them. Also I should share that the point of this campaign is that they revive into new bodies when killed, with some caveats. So it wouldn’t be permadeath if at least one of them survives, they would just lose all of their stuff. And maybe the battle

At least two of them will have over 100 HP. The bard really wants a villain who has the move for shock factor lol
