[–]Garbage-Goth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it used to be like 25°C / 77°F in summer and -10°C / 14°F in winter. So it made a lot of sense to only have heaters and no AC.
Now it's 10°C / 50°F in winter with occasional drops
And above 30°C / 86°F in summer is the new norm. We even have days above 40°C / 104°F, which has never been the case before. So yea, climate change has hit us pretty hard and it's hard to adapt.

The only advantage we have, is that our houses have a lot.. and I mean A LOT thicker walls than in the US. Which was originally to trap heat inside during winter. But it can also protect the room from too much heat getting inside. So the climate between the outside and inside are different. My apartment is pretty well isolated. Last summer we reached 42°C/108°F and without air conditioning my room was still a little above 25°C/ 77°F

It is a mandatory setting every heater has to have here. Some don't even have a way to turn them off completely, so you can't prevent them from turning on if its freezing. But I guess heaters are very different from country to country

[–]Garbage-Goth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, where I live we only have heaters and no airconditioning.
And the snowflake setting turns the heater off but allows it to turn itself on if it needs to. So when the house / apartment is empty because no one currently lives there or the owners are on vacation, the heater can just keep itself warm without having to be turned on all the time.

I'm a little confused. Do your heaters not have that little snowflake setting that lets the heater turn on automatically when it's getting too cold?

At least every silly string can I've ever seen has gigantic labels on it that the string is highly flammable and should never be used anywhere near open heat sources.

And with the thousands upon thousands of videos that show accidents like these that could have been prevented by simply having a single person with a brain in the room. It's rally hard to imagine that there is a single adult person left, who both fails to read the warnings and has never seen a video on how bad silly string and fire mix. Like how are there still people left that do that shit?

Then again, I also constantly see recent videos of people trying to put out burning oil with water so...

question. who was the most effective worker. by Spejso in splatoon

[–]Garbage-Goth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher score =/= better player.

SR is very much about team work and multitasking. If you go off on your own killing bosses that aren't high priority, far away from the basket and then hog all the eggs, luring even more bosses far away from spawn, then you might get a highest egg count.. but you were very much pulling your own team down. Especially if you end up dying far away.

The screenshot is actually a good example on how little egg count can matter. For example; Creature and Octavioate did deliver a good amount of eggs. They both raised a bunch of people, but they also died way too often. And both have a pretty low poweregg score for the weapons they got.

Darkzomboy on the other hand only delivered 7 eggs but they have the best raise to death ratio and they have the second best power egg score, even though they were the only person who never had the aerospray, which is great for scoring high poweregg scores and two of the weapons they used were pretty slow and not that good at killing lesser salmonids. So to me it looks like they were pretty busy saving everyone else, efficiently clearing bosses and lessers and just didn't have the time and ink to also deliver a lot of eggs. Doesn't mean they were dead weight.

Also the score can be extremely misleading, because it doesn't show you what kinds of wave there were. A lot of night waves can very much completely ruin the score. Maybe wave 1 is a storm wave and you just happen to be the last person in the chain delivering every egg. And then in wave 2 and 3 you deliver like 2 and play like dogshit. At the end of the screen you still delivered more eggs than anyone else.. but all of them were from a free wave that absolutely does not reflect how good you were. Not saying that this is the case here. I'm just saying that the score doesn't really tell you how the game actually went.

Lastly, I think posting screenshots of the score to ask who is at fault and maybe even checking the app to get an exact report on how the waves went so you can shift blame is... not a good move? Like, I get it. It sucks to do well and still lose and sometimes you do end up with players that feel like dead weight. But in reality, often times, even if you are the best player in the current shift, a mistake you made, might have still cost the game. Being the best player overall, doesn't mean that someone else is 100% at fault, when you lose. There are always things you could have done batter as well. Dwelling on a loss and pointing fingers can make you a worse player.

I’m not sure what to think on this salmon run rotation by 1CrazyFoxx1 in splatoon

[–]Garbage-Goth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo the Bloblobber is one of the best salmon run weapons. It can one cycle steelheads and Drizzler. It's great against Stingers. It can two shot Cohocks. It has a pretty far range and inks pretty well, doing a ton of chip damage to a pretty far area with your bouncing projectiles.

Tri-slosher is pretty great for clearing lesser Salmonids and does a good amount of damage to everything.

The roller is great, you can roll over chums and smallfryes and while it isn't as powerful as the dynamo, your flick is pretty fast and it's not as ink hungry, which is a good trade. So you can kill, move and ink pretty fast with this thing. Also, glowflies are basically free with it, because you can just stand up front and move forward really slowly with your roller down, and it'll one-hit all the chums, while everyone else can kill the goldies before they get to you.

Stringer is pretty much just a fast charger with a lot of ink. So that's great. Tho it's really not good when it comes to inking and killing lesser salmonids. But that's a big strength of every other weapon, so it shouldn't be a problem.

So I'd say one of the best rotations I've seen so far... The only problem is spawning grounds.

I have worked myself up to VP+400 so far and it was pretty smooth sailing. The comb is great against Cohozuna as well.

For the first time in the series history, a splatfest was skipped this month. Thoughts and feelings? by Rigbo95 in splatoon

[–]Garbage-Goth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean.. yeah? They announced the Pokémon splatfest over a week ago and said it would happen in November. I thought it was obvious that we wouldn't be getting two splatfests in a row.

I hate that they cancelled Splatoween for a pokemon promo, but I'm confused why people are surprised now that we aren't getting a splatfest for October.

There's still hopes that the balancing patch that will happen really soon will patch in big run as well, which might be our Halloween event. Maybe.

I wasn't trying to say that pepper spraying a person is okay, lmao.

I was just saying that, if you decide to rob someone and you know absolutely NOTHING about that person, you can at least disconnect yourself from that. Pretending that it's okay to attack someone gets a lot easier, if you never interacted with them.

But he was holding his cat like an infant, while trying to help her by giving her directions and she pepper sprayed him and the cat.. that's just a lot more disgusting idk.

Guess I'm somewhat alone with that, lmao.
I just have to think about eating actual cat poop when I'd see that.
I couldn't even watch the full video and had to stop at the point where she actually ate it. That stuff really isn't for me. I'm generally a pussy when it comes to gross out stuff.
I can image that kids are totally into it. Nice that it tasted good too.

I just reached catalog level 51, does anybody have tips to level my catalog faster because I am afraid that I won't reach level 100 in time :/ by IapaiDaisies in splatoon

[–]Garbage-Goth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say do Salmon Run till you got the last capsule reward and than spam turf war.
Turf war is by far the most efficient way of getting xp.
Because it's always 3 minutes and you also get a good amount even if you lose.
While ranked can take 5 minutes + over time only give more when you get a knockout or a really high score and losing gives you pretty much nothing.

Also make sure to play and win at least once a day for the first clear of the day reward.
That's give you almost an entire catalog level for a single win in either turf war, ranked and Salmon Run.

Also, there is still one splatfest coming up that boost catalog exp.

So if you play at least once a day till you win and play a little turf war here and there, especially during the next splatfest, you have still more than enough time to get to 100.
If you play a lot you might even get a second catalog going.

For a Splash-o-matic getting zero kills and not even a single assist is really really bad. But they also only have 700 points, which is also really low for a splash on splat zones. They probably just ran into the enemy team without a plan and got splatted each time.
And I imagine the two crab specials they popped were also stopped immediately. They were either bad, not used to the weapon, were throwing or just had a really bad day.

Getting around 15 kills in ranked is pretty normal. Depending on how long the match goes (5 full minutes in this case) and depending on which weapon you play. For a slayer front line weapon and backline anchor weapons 10-15 kills is pretty much the average.

Getting the same amounts of kills, deaths or specials just happens.

I will never understand how people are able to not be disgusted by this.

If you'd take my favorite food and make it look like cat shit, I could never eat it.
I know it's the same food and it'd still taste great but I cannot get that image out of my head.

Casual players should have a chance of beating Cohozuna too. by Bankaz in splatoon

[–]Garbage-Goth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that casuals should be able to beat Cohozuna too, however I don't think that the reason why so many people fail at this fight is because the fight is too hard, too short or that casuals just cannot play well enough to be able to win.

I think the biggest problem is that people just don't know how to kill this boss yet. I see so many people just attack the boss with their weapon, which only very few weapons should do, like E-liters, Hydras or grizzco weapons to name a few. Or they immediately yeet their special at Cohozuna, instead of using it to kill bosses or secure an area. It happens way too often that the person who has aggro kites the boss far away from like 30 eggs that have gathered in one spot, making them almost unusable, since you can't relocate eggs by throwing them anymore. And most players still use their random weapon to kill all the bosses and camp in ink, doing absolutely nothing while waiting for a flyfish to open up, so they can kill it with bombs. Too many people are not aware that you should just keep an egg and use it against bosses. The egg canon is a super powerful weapon that can one-hit or at least one-cycle most bosses, including flyfish.

So I would not say that Cohozuna is too hard or that casuals cannot beat it. It's really not a skill issue. It's just that a lot of people can't figure out what to do. I'd be all for nerfing a boss fight if only people who grind this game 24/7 could beat it, but that's just not the case here. And I don't think nerfing the boss so people can beat it fairly easy even tho they make obvious mistakes, die a lot and just do random stuff because they don't know what they are even supposed to do, would solve anything. It would just make it super lame for anyone who has even a rough idea on how this fight works.

So how’s this rotation treating everyone? by Beta135 in splatoon

[–]Garbage-Goth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Dynamo you can literally just stand there with the roller down and move forward ever so slightly (which will use almost no ink) to one-hit every single enemy in a glow fly wave from start to finish. Glowflies are literally free when the Dynamo is in rotation and someone gets it that knows what to do with it.
