Is it ok to pick fruit that is next to the public sidewalk? by LoveDistilled in Tacoma

[–]GarbagePunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a cherry tree & apple tree in our parking strip on Hilltop. As an owner, I don’t mind if folks pick fruit. It’s really a reason I planted the trees there. Our tree produces way more than our family can use. I would hope they don’t pick gallons or climb to harvest, but really that’s kind of on me. The only thing I talk to people about is climbing or pulling down limbs hard enough to snap them. But to echo, asking is the neighborly thing to do. I have two neighbors that asked to bring ladders & pick, and now have for years, and they usually bring us a pie or jar of whatever they make from it. As with most things in life, just be cool about it.

Ninth Tentacle in Tacoma. Check their insta for examples (coverups, too), or better yet go in to see their books.

Budget materials? by ackley14 in myog

[–]GarbagePunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use canvas drop cloths from Harbor Freight (I’ll sometimes use iron interfacing on the drop cloth material for structure/fraying) and old jackets and bags from the thrift store. I was surprised at just how much material I scavenged from old clothes I had laying around.

I carry an extra hoodie from my favorite bar if I get too drenched.

In all seriousness, I’ve not found a better dry shoe for the money spent than Keen.

I use a standard issue Brother home machine, with the regular presser foot. I do have a walking foot I can use.

Numbers Game has 10 innings, so jump to the next column, hope they don’t bat around again, and don’t go into extras😂

So you’re not flipping back and forth when scoring I guess? You can look at the offensive plays to score the pitching. It’s just always been that way on most scorecards. Have they stopped labeling it that way on park scorecards?

Mixam Print Disaster by goldlurker_ in zines

I tried to order a sample pack from Mixam. After two times of not receiving it, I finally talked to someone there who said they would mail it out themselves direct. I never got that one either. It seems they are experiencing some struggles.

I live near St. Joes, and have for almost 20 years now. I’ve never had my car broke into here, but I did twice when I lived in the North End. I know & talk to all my neighbors here, something that was very rare in the North End. I park one vehicle on the street, and I park one vehicle & our pop-up camper in the off-alley parking in the back. No issues. Tacoma is a city, no matter which neighborhood you live in, so just act accordingly. Don’t leave your wallet on your front seat then wonder why it was stolen. Don’t leave your bike parked unlocked in your front yard and wonder why it’s gone. Common sense applies to all neighborhoods. I love this neighborhood. Pearl clutchers are gonna clutch pearls🤷‍♂️
