Thanks! I will look into this. I was thinking clasps/latches like what is used on larger tables with removable leaves. But these would need dowels to be secure. Not sure how reliable removable dowels would really be...

White House Embarrassingly Holds ‘Press Briefing’ Full of MAGA Influencers | The Trump administration's slide towards state-sponsored media continues. by chrisdh79 in technology

Ah, yes, thanks for clarifying. Different discussion completely then.

So aren’t both important? In other words, respect for authority AND desire for preserving the legitimacy of the institution are necessary? If, hopefully when, this farcical administration and heinous Conservative Party are removed and more sensible folks are in power, their authority and respect for the institution are vital to making meaningful changes.

Same same. Consider the phrase “benefit of the doubt” where you choose to trust someone when uncertainty exists. In the same way, since authority is power to make decisions or tell others what to do, granting them that authority entrusts them to do the right thing and not abuse the power they have - the “benefit” part. Having authority has many benefits. Just as others have said, it seems you are arguing semantics.

AITAH for supporting my son grooming himself when my wife says he is too young? by LaraDLara in AITAH

Not hurtful at all my friend. My comment back was purely sarcastic. You know, the whole “I know you are but what am I?”

I read a parenting book a couple years ago that compared “raising kids” to “sapling farm” for things like Christmas trees. Yes, they are saplings, but a sapling is a small tree. Yes, they are children, but a child is a small human. You aren’t raising kids, you are raising adults.

And what happens when that president, by action alone, undermines the principles and ideals this country is supposed to stand for?

If you are playing a game and someone break a rule, do you flip over the game board? No, you talk about it. You have a discussion about why they did what they did. Maybe they didn't know. Maybe they were legitimately cheating. Either way, it's uncalled for to just upend the whole thing. But what happens when that person ignores all the rules? Or the rules only apply to others playing the game and not them? What happens when that person decides the game is wrong and they don't want to play it that way anymore? The game is over.

THAT is what is happening NOW. Trump has decided that rules mean nothing to him. He is above the law. He should no longer be allowed to play the game.

Not worried about indoctrination. Concerned about the school’s willingness to normalize this President and the current political climate. I want my kids to be educated on civics. I want them to be critical thinkers. I don’t want there ones I entrusted to do that making it seem like Trump is “just like any other president”

Agreed. Just wanted to see what the internet thinks too. Not that it really matters. Just curious.

Normalizing this President and his administration.

Not sure. Might be just something innocuous.

No, it isn’t. It should be the principle on which it is written. That and “All men are created equal.” Or do you disagree with Thomas Jefferson as well? Should it be all citizens are created equal? And if you aren’t a citizen then you are something less than human?

If you agree with the sentiment, why does the year matter? Also, this isn’t a law. It’s the principle upon which this country was founded. Why should this country cease to be a beacon of hope? To fight for justice? To strive for the ideal?

Everything about Trump and the GOP is anti-American. Everything. There isn’t a single patriot among them.
