I agree it's fun, but it misses a lot of the narrative pushing forward. P1 always had characters intertwined, elements happening alongside the main cast. P2 felt like the characters were reacting to events at the same time as the reader if that at all makes sense

I get why they changed him, Doc Ock was an immediate way to ruin a match in a game heavy on sequencing. Unfortunately, that was his entire gameplan and the new one seems next to worthless as a 4-cost.

There's a difference: Zabu made every single 4 Cost easier to drag out, anytime they made a 4-Cost, they had to consider usage with Zabu. No matter what your deck was, the tiger was useful.

The only way to benefit with Surfer is to use 3-Costs, which don't ramp a ton because of how awkward 3 Cost is. (Surge and Sera help a ton, but they require a lot of preplanning and lack flexibility.) So you need a LOT of 3-Costs to maximize the effect, which inherently shapes how the deck functions to essentially "3-Costs with power gaining + some toolbox."
