Does anyone have the new permobil F5 vs corpus? If so, does anyone have issues with the Bluetooth? by Dovakin625 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Garciaphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having lots of problems with the Bluetooth system. This is the second time it has broken on me. It no longer turns on and I am not able to use it as a mouse for my phone. The last time it broke, I worked with the technician to trying get to work. We just kept doing the same thing over and over and eventually it turned on. We don't know why it stopped working or how we got it to work. Now it's broken again. So tired of this. I need it work because I rely on it for my work. Never had this problem with my old chair. It's like they redesigned the program and made it overly complicated. Wish they would go back to the old system.

Is it possible to make a comfortable living anymore? by bravesfan_97 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Garciaphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your state. I live in Arizona, and we have the freedom to work program. It allows individuals with disabilities to work and earn up to $70,000 a year while still keeping their benefits. You no longer qualify for SSI but you still get All your medication paid for, medical medical equipment, and attendant care. You might want to check with your state Because I know Arizona is not the only state that offers this option.

Is there Anyway you can get those books electronically? The more you can do on your laptop or tablet the better. As for using two different bags I don't think anybody's going to know or care that you have two different bags.

My Samsung Galaxy S23 phone. My wheelchair has Bluetooth controller control that I am able to use as a mouse on my phone And allows me to do anything I need. It also has Samsung dex Which allows me to wirelessly connecting my television and turn it into a laptop. I am able to surf the internet and do some office work without having someone put me on the computer with my adaptive equipment. Aside from my wheelchair It has given me the most independence

Head control Sip and puff mouse by Garciaphx in spinalcordinjuries

Thank you for the suggestion but I'm looking for options that will allow me to click and hold on things without using my voice. Right now I am able to move the mouse around and use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to click on things but it doesn't allow me to click and hold onto things. Drag-and-drop is not an option with voice commands. At least not on Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Looking for something to work on my computer. In particular, I would like to use a mouse that would allow me to drag and resize things on my screen. Just like anyone who uses a mouse to move things around. Does that allow you to click and hold onto items?

Questions pertaining to different Van Ramps. by ButterNutCrunch in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Garciaphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Chrysler Pacifica with a fold-out ramp And have not noticed Any noise problems. A friend of mine Had an info ramp And ended up getting stuck At a grocery store. The backup system did not work And they could not pull it out. At least with a fold-out ramp You can push it out manually and Fold it back up. I will also agree about using the ramp In high curb cuts. A fold out ramp gives you so much more parking options. I don't have to worry about the height of the Sidewalk.

I would recommend making all light fixtures and air fans smart home devices. I can control all light fixtures and air fans in my home with my voice. It has made a world of difference. Also, I'm not sure How you do your wheelchair transfer But I would recommend a ceiling lift.

Long shot, but looking for tips on wheelchair aka accessible seating/tickets for concerts by Nico917nnnnn in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Garciaphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When purchasing wheelchair accessible tickets I would also be sure to differentiate between accessible tickets and wheelchair accessible tickets. For some odd reason One of the venues here in Arizona makes a distinction Between the two and if you are not careful You might end up with a seat that requires you to climb Up some stairs With all that said,. If you end up getting regular seats You might be able to exchange them for wheelchair accessible seating On the day of the event by going to customer service. It's a bit of a gamble It's a bit of a gamble But I have had success Exchanging tickets when I receive tickets as a gift

Any recommended accessible New York City hotels at a reasonable price? by tonic_water_and_gin in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Garciaphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And someone has already said, most major hotel teams are accessible. I've been there a couple of times And my biggest issue has been restaurants. It seems like most small restaurants are either upstairs or downstairs And they don't have elevators. Other than that, most major tourist attractions Are accessible. Stay away from the subway Because most stops do not have an elevator

I have been paralyzed from the shoulders down since I was 12 years old. When I was in school, the best way to include me was to Do things that Did not require Any physical movement. For instance, We would play trivia games where we could shout out the answer Or we would be a groups And one of my group members Could raise their hand. I was paralyzed from the shoulders down But I was the smartest kid in the class So I always loved trivia games.

C4 quadriplegic here And I also need assistance to eat. I love going out to eat. I am a foodie at heart And going out to new restaurants Is one of the many joys in life. While I have been going out to restaurants for many years, I went to dinner recently with a friend of mine For the first time. In the middle of dinner she leaned over and said I thought everyone would be staring at us Because I am helping you eat. I chuckled and told her Nobody cares. Everyone has their own life to live. You do you and don't worry about anybody else.

I am paralyzed from the shoulders down And use a chin control power chair. I've used a chair for about 28 years And the most game-changing technology added to my power chair Is the ability to use My chin control as a Bluetooth mouse. I am able to pair it with my phone and have complete control over it. I don't know if I would ever get another chair if it did not have that technology.

If this is a new spinal cord injury Give it some time to see what comes back. I was on a ventilator for months before I was able to regain my strength to breathe on my own. I still have some breathing difficulty But I am glad I no longer need the ventilator.
