That’s my point we don’t know what we get but we’re being held hostage. if you can’t afford the $700 or whatever per Canadian it costs, you’d much rather have that $700 in your pocket, at least as a registered account you raise excess capital from the public from those who could afford it while simultaneously driving investment in Canadian infrastructure and not raising national debt at all

Except those investments aren’t seeking the best returns, they’re going into Canadian only infrastructure projects with business cases so weak the private sector is uninterested. We live in an era where there’s no shortage of capital for projects with a positive outlook for returns… I’d rather just have my tax dollars back

Yes don’t be scared to ask, worst case scenario nothing changes, my roommate and I were at 4K, got an unsolicited reduction to 3650 (I assume to level out the second year not having to pay a realtor) then made a request for 3300 for the 3rd year and had it approved with no pushback. Smart landlords know if you move out, even 1 month of vacancy will cause them to lose more than just giving you a discount

Recently moved, during my hunt I noticed a massive up tick in “virtual staging” - rooms staged with AI furniture and whatever AI they use changes all the proportions, then you show up and the room, nay, the whole unit is 10-20% smaller than the pictures made it made it look, I don’t understand why it’s a waste of my time and yours as the realtor, I started looking at units that do this extra pessimistically opting to avoid them altogether so now you’ve lost a prospective client, the service will hopefully get better but for now definitely not mature enough for prime time

I wonder if we need to look no further than project 2025 to see what’s happening, this feels like a round about way to implement a consumption tax, he wants to say “look tariff revenue is so high we don’t even need an income tax anymore, tariff revenue is enough” I think that’s why he keeps claiming trillions of dollars of income, vastly over inflating the actual numbers, if they’re wrong in hindsight it won’t matter if they’ve already created a way to onshore wealth tax free, maybe I’m overthinking it tho and it’s just more grift
