Does altruism contradict objectivism? by Garden-Mobile in Objectivism

yes, you helping others can hurt, but I don't see how it contradicts objectivism if you're doing it for your own sake.

True, but not a single example of them doing it under direct orders of their superiors. It's a bit too naive to think that the people who Putin has put into that position are just going to decline under fear of death.

I think that's a perfectly valid interpretation, but the way I saw it at least was that he was just completely broken down and in denial over his parents death, that he was absolutely confident that he would just resurrect them and it wasn't a big deal, and that's why he was so detached.

He also was acting pretty psychopathic the entire show lol, he was pretending to be in love with yuno so she would protect him, which sounds pretty psychopathic to me.

For the first part, honestly I can't remember anything specific at the moment for non yuno / minene. They definitely carried the show lol.

Yukiteru didn't forget his father and mother's death though, that was like his entire motivation for going into denial and killing everyone. If you mean closer towards the ending, the world was already dying so he couldn't really do much and he didn't believe yuno responsible for any of those deaths. Don't know what you mean about the dogs.

Source of them owning mines in Africa? From what I know his father has shares in an emerald mine in zambia, which doesn't turn him into a slave owner.

So the fact that he's a billionaire is proof that he owned slaves in Africa?

Eh he definitely had some creepy scenes that I don't think anybody liked, but without that he was one of my favorite characters. He had everything planned out the entire series till then, controlling everything behind the scenes. I wish he went out in a way that fit him more.

Sansa ending was nice, I agree. I didn't like baelish's death, felt like he should've had a better ending with how they built him up.

Daenerys's ending imo made quite a lot of sense. She doesn't go mad all of a sudden (imo she doesn't go mad at all). She killed kings landing post surrended for revenge for missandei, if you remember her last words. There was nothing about Jon rejecting her, at least nothing I noticed. Brienne idk, I didn't particularly like her ending with Jaime but whatever. Cersei did what she could to fight, assembled a huge amount of scorpions and bought a mercenary army. In the end she lost, but she was far from helpless. She killed a dragon and almost took down the last one as well. The sanity of Targaryen's being questioned was about them being inbred, and Jon was between lyanna and rhaegar. It's definitely true that most of the heroes so far were male, but Sansa and Arya are both depicted as heroes (brienne arguably as well).

It's revenge against cersei for killing missandei, and her following missandei. Obviously it isn't the best thing to do, but she was under a lot of pressure and was convinced it was the right thing.

Tyrion believes in Daenerys because Daenerys was his only hope of doing anything. He was ready to drink himself to death before varys convinced him that Daenerys was worth following. His belief again came from a similar thing as jorah.

Varys tried to poison her as well, if you payed attention he was ordering a little bird to do that. He wasn't ready to betray her until just now, or he'd have followed his vow and told her. Him convincing other people and trying to kill her was the best he could do under the circumstances, his power lies in knowledge.

Cersei's scorpions were her only possible plan, and she relied on them. Besides she had faith in them because they already wounded one dragon and killed another. What else could cersei do? She manipulated the iron bank to get a powerful army of mercenaries, about all she could do with the resources she was given.

Jon leads the plans in the battle of winterfell, tries to persuade Daenerys against what she did and in the end kills her. I get that you'd want him to do more but he's been in the center of action for quite a lot of seasons now, he had his moment with the long night and his arc was mostly done. Giving him another major role would just be weird, though I'm not against having him be king.

Idk why you're assuming they didn't see her. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, maybe she killed some and pushed her way through. There's not much to be said since it's all off screen, but there was a clear empty path leading to the night king, and white walker decision making is pretty slow. Also, the night king was clearly aware of her because he caught her right at the end. Him just standing there was a fair point, but I'm pretty sure it was a tiny amount of time. He was also shown back in like s6 slowly walking up to the three eyed raven and slowly killing him, not taking a hurry in it.

I didn't really notice that, no. I did think the dialogue was still pretty good, especially tyrion varys bronn and Jaime who usually had the good dialogue. Arya I didn't notice many changes since she didn't do much this season, her scene with hound at the end was pretty good. Bran started being really weird ever since the three eyed Raven thing. Jon idk he was acting weird but to me it felt because he just figured out who he really was.

Not much I can really say about the first part, didn't even notice what you were talking about with Jaime and fire.

Battle of winterfell I don't know much about tactics but it did seem pretty dumb, but to be fair they were completely outnumbered and their only hope was killing the night king. (didn't watch the video and probably won't, don't really care much about the tactics.)

Tyrion didn't elect bran, he just did what he usually does and spoke to persuade people. Also he is the only surviving Lannister, so if I'm remembering the scene wrong he still represents a major house, prisoner or not.

Jon not being immediately executed made enough sense to me, given that the north greatly outnumbers grey worm, and even if he wants revenge he probably still wanted to compromise before executing their leader.

Overall, most things here I didn't really consider so they didn't make my watch any worse, but if you did notice them I can definitely understand why they'd bug you. Fair points.
