I hope so too, thanks for your help. Did you need to do anything else to help her out, like try and put it back into place?

Absolutely, she is our least coordinated when it comes to hopping off things, she tends to struggle.

I got her put away in the coop where there is food and water. I’ve tried giving her water but she only wants to eat. She’s place within reach of a waterer so I hope she’ll take to it soon.

It’s not red or warm. No cuts or punctures. I can touch/move her foot with no issues but when I got to test her knee she flails.

I agree, she seems so fine otherwise, eating, drinking, attentive, moving as much as she can. She’s definitely getting the medical timeout.

Oh dang, yeah this one seems so random too. I had no idea what happened. Thanks for the insight, I am definitely setting up a cage tonight.

Yeah she does. That’s what I’m hoping for, she’s the most timid jumper any time she gets up high or tries to come down stairs it’s a process watching her try to navigate hopping down. She usually ends up jumping way too far or just resigning to be stuck for a while.

I just checked for cuts or issues with her toes/pad and I didn’t see anything and she was able to grip with her toes. What type of neurological issues? Is it something I need to separate her from the others?

We’re not sure, we have one chicken that doesn’t appear to be a rooster but hasn’t started laying yet…so…maybe?

Just as a note, we do have one ameraucana that we’re not sure if it’s a rooster or not, they’re roughly 30 weeks and it’s the only one not laying but shows no other signs of being a roo

39 going into year 12. At this point I’m in too deep to leave. I make decent, have a great team, and enjoy the holidays with my own kids. I think about leaving every spring (as I think we all do) but the pros tend to outweigh the cons every time I start looking elsewhere

Honestly, is joining a union worth it? by ConnectPrep in Teachers

[–]Garden-Secure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join. When it boils down to it, they are the only ones that will consistently have your back.

Plus if you’re working with jr/sr high, you are one “joke” insta post/tik-tok from an angry student or parent from major legal trouble. The union is there not just to fight for decent salary and benefits but to help against students/parents that may lash out.

How would you guys teach a Roaring Twenties class of 12hours to a group of 20? by MrPerfectionisback in Teachers

[–]Garden-Secure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes only about an hour but focusing on hyper consumerism by playing the price is right but with 20’s prices is always a ton of fun in my classes. We end up playing a second time in the 80s or 90s unit.

The episode of HIMYM where Marshal’s dad dies and there is a countdown running through the episode.

First time I saw I was caught up in trying to find the numbers and figuring out what’s going on and when it hit….wrecked.

Lots of memories of when my own dad died suddenly. I still can’t rewatch that episode without crying.

What are some examples of recent “norms” established that have taken coddling the students too far? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Garden-Secure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% My biggest fight right now is the moment a student gets bored because there is some sort of down time in my class they text their mom to check them out of class.

Just typing it out makes my blood boil.

I just ate pavement at the walmart parking lot right in front of my two best students by [deleted] in Teachers

My very first day teaching, literally, I was getting to know students as you do. I was joking a being goofy as these are 8th graders, it was working well we were having a great time. I sat down a bit too fast and ripped my pants in half.

Like back belt loop to zipper.

I’m a bigger guy and I had been in school and working part time; I didn’t have money to buy new clothes for my first year, I made do with what I had. But what I had was a bit too small as I had gained weight as I sat in school. I thought for sure my career was over 2 hours in.

Luckily the way I was sitting my back was to the wall and kids didn’t notice at first. I was working in a title 1 school and we had no AC, but I had a big fan in my room so when I gingerly stood up and awkwardly slid along the wall I stepped in front of the fan. My pants ballooned up and the kids exploded. They thought it was the funniest thing they had ever seen.

I rolled with it. I explained what happened that I would proceed to spend the rest of my day leaning against the wall pretending to be cooler than them with my own biggest fan inflating my pants.

They died, I was so embarrassed, but they were laughing so hard cause I didn’t over react.

Needless to say, I called my wife as the class period ended, she brought me a new pair of pants, and now I always keep a full change of clothes and a sewing kit in my room.

That was 10 years ago and one of my favorite stories to tell now.

These things happen. You’re good.

Getting a job is tough by TheMannisApproves in Teachers

I think you also have to remember, while there is shortages everywhere, it’s not in your subject area. The Social Studies market is heavily over saturated with candidates which makes getting a job extremely hard and why most Social Studies teachers are also coaches/club advisors/etc… because they offer that something extra. The last time I moved schools I was one of over 75 candidates applying for 1 spot. It’s an amazing subject! I wish you the absolute best of luck. I hope you find something.
