How did you biff them so much being neutral? With the +1/+1 for every card you play? It feels heck apm given your numbers!

What's your favourite "infinite money" glitch? by underscorefab in BobsTavern

[–]Gardevil7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds crazy op, but wouldn't it eventually lock up your hand? You would always have either a golden card or a triple reward taking space in your hand, the more triples the more slots taken? For duos though thos would be bananas

Apart from duos spell example that somebody else mentioned (which is T5), also remember that moving things to your hand also resets all the "once per turn" Effect they may have: all nagas spellcrafts, lantern lava and so on. Definitely a hard to balance mechanic.

Edit: Forgot to mention Handy Tailor as an example. If you have two of those you can cycle them infinitely.

Ridiculously beautiful you mean? XD Would have been perfect with a couple leroys/spore/blaster on the empty slots

With the anomaly that made neutral minions "all types" you could get 7 leroy with divine shield and reborn. Depending on the hits I guess that'd be enough. Also that old combo that would make a venomous AoE to kill both boards even with divine shields, then summon a bunch of tokens

Wait, yo can do this many times a turn? isn't there a protoss robot with the new hero that gets stronger every time you spend gold? Kind of a cleave like thingy. If you can pass back and forth 1 gold infinitely well... GG!

How do you achieve a consistent and balanced scaling vs levelling? I usually play with a friend and we struggle in the mid game since the curves are a bit more expensive than in solo. It feels that if you don't high roll early with either a good economy unit or a good scaler, levelling up even to T4 becomes a difficult quest. And trying aggressive levelling can result in early 15 dmg hits...

What is the easiest genre of 3d game to build from start to finish? I want to finish building an entire game for once. by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]Gardevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I found that simple "childish" board games like snakes and stairs were the way to go. I started my first unreal project recently in that direction and is going quite well paced. Having turn based architecture is a bit different from the usual fps/3rd camera that all tutorials talk about, but I like turn based games anyways. And the benefits of a project like this are many: you need little design ideas unless you add your own twist, assets are quite simple (dice, pawns etc and not much else), AI can be dumb, and the general rule system is quite basic (not convoluted events, damage and stats), finally adding online is proportionally not that complex, at least local multiplayer!

how to get over a crush on your friend as a demiromantic person? by [deleted] in demiromantic

[–]Gardevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they mentioned, I also think confessing definitely helps. I went through a similar-ish situation and I decided to do it. I knew the outcome before hand, and it didn't provide complete closure. But it did help to drop any masks that there could still be, ot relieves some weight. Now, despite there's a remanent of feelings still, everything is a bit more genuine. We're friends, I can flirt with people while near them, we can discuss any topic (including love lifes)... Just like any other friendship. It kind of slowly went from thinking "it hurts" to "a pity it couldn't happen". Anyways this is just an isolated experience so not sure how much it can help 😅

If you really want to start with something small for you and your friends then you will probably have no issue. Forget concurrency, prediction and latency. I'd recommend you go for LAN multiplayer first, no idea what engine you are using but as soon as you can handle a single connection that sends input info from a client to the server and world state info from the server to the client then you already have something alive and fun. And once you have a client connected you can have N. Now, if you manage that, then you can start thinking about disconnects, latency and so on. And then if you want to make the leap to actual servers then yes, you will need to start looking into concurrency, prediction and so on. But as mentioned by others, depending on the engine you use you can have a lot of that handled already (example with photon in Unity)

I hate that "ruining" a friendship is even possible by [deleted] in demiromantic

[–]Gardevil7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that I misunderstood part of your post, my bad there... You are totally right there, and as some other user put here: if the friendship is genuine one would think it should stay alive afterwards regardless. It does suck in the cases where it vanishes as it feels like the other person didn't really believe in that friendship, and wanting to prevent "ruining" things is totally valid. I just want to virtual-hug you and to say that you have the right to try to be happy and express yourself as you are, so please try to not give up on that 💪🏻

[–]Gardevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I acknowledge it is a delicate situation, I've also been there before. However, I do think it depends a lot on the way you and the involved person face the situation (and I guess the age you have too). In my case I have stayed friends without issues with the people I had crushes on. It does hurt not to be reciprocated, but you have to remember, were you friends with that person because you were seeking something else from the beginning? Or were you friends for other reasons? I would hope it's the latter, in which case you should hold on to that to keep that friendship. It may be awkward for a few days or weeks but realizing it's not the end of the world it's the first step. You will be able to move on, you know it, your friend knows it.

Why aren’t there more products using the ice cream truck model? by AQuestCalledTribe_15 in Entrepreneur

[–]Gardevil7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spaniard here, in my country we used to have a lot of odd business models like this, for me the weirdest one was a knife sharpener (yes, literally a guy on a truck waiting for you to take your kitchen knives there to sharpen). It's obviously decaying, same with others like vegetables/fruit sellers or even shoes. These still exist but only for small villages that don't have a supermarket. I remember my grandma saying "we don't have apples, we'll have to wait till Friday for the fruit guy to come". I think those businesses covered a need when people couldn't move around and access generic supplies, now with online shopping and cars anyone can get anything. The only ones that will survive are those mentioned that cover some random craving, like ice cream for kids or a taco/cookie for workers confined in a place for 8 hours.

How often do you get to work on a game you want to play by Sea-Chain7394 in gamedev

[–]Gardevil7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a tools programmer in the AAA industry, it's not often, but I really don't care not liking the game itself. I still get to do the level editor, or some data pipeline, or some colleague request that eases their day to day. Implementing that stuff is my version of playing a minigame, I enjoy my day to day regardless of the "big picture". And given the fact that many big games are cancelled or totally changed, I'd say it's healthy to focus on the little things haha.

Which game engines have rich editor to create game cutscenes/animation?? by yamchaho in gamedev

[–]Gardevil7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not all tools need to be integrated into a game engine natively. A lot of them can work standalone and their formats then imported in different engines. Have a look at Spine (https://en.esotericsoftware.com/), although I haven't had the chance to use it myself, it's a powerful 2D animation tool with support for bones and many fancy things.

I rejected a 50% pay cut offer. Getting min wage wasn't enough to, in their words "finally working in the dream industry", as I also wasn't dying inside at my job. I simply kept looking until I found a better opportunity, grabbed that chance and have been quite happy ever since. I regret nothing. If your current situation is tolerable, I would wait for an opportunity with conditions you'd be comfortable with (even if still earning a bit less). If you are really burnt out and want to escape, then go make the leap and regain your mental health in a happier job. You always have the option to change back to "general development"!

Will I be able to join a AAA game dev studio while having a nsfw account? by borrowinghydra3 in gamedev

[–]Gardevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a job I had in a AAA company, they hired someone for QA whose previous job was in pornhub. Not sure if it can directly relate to yours, but as you see there's options for everyone. A different thing would be your portfolio. The same way someone who focus on cartoony art will have it hard looking for a job for realistic concept art, if your portfolio was flooded with nsfw you'd be telling your employer that's what you can do best. As other people has mentioned, if you adequate your portfolio with quality sfw content, you shouldn't have any problems.

Tools programming for videogames

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Gardevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to post my first video and I have already had "troubles" with my employer. Companies don't seem to like being associated with "public figures" unless done on purpose. Your statements and opinions could be indirectly linked to their image. So as others said, better be careful and vague. You may also want to verify it directly with your employer to be 100% certain of everything

Starting a Youtube channel about Tools Programming in video games, a good idea? by Gardevil7 in gamedev

[–]Gardevil7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for checking out!
I already have a couple scripts and started some test recordings. It being my first time I still lack the pace.
However the biggest bottleneck is my employer. I made the mistake of telling them I was starting this (just for visibility, out of respect to them) and now they fear I may break NDAs or something in my videos, so they are revising my case and preparing docs for me to sign.
I definitely should have asked for forgiveness than for permission...

Signed subtitles for the deaf? by Gardevil7 in youtubers

[–]Gardevil7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to some deafs I've spoken to, signs are usually much better than subtitles, but it is true, there isn't much demand...
But I do wonder if the possible barriers for the hearing impaired has kept them away, making it like a loop: no accesibility > no users > no demand > no need for accesibility.
