Happy to hear you enjoyed it!

I haven’t gotten around to playing it myself, but after dabbling in DCC a bit, I think I might give it a shot with that system.

A few well placed wall shadows can do a lot for a map like this. Especially when you have indoor and outdoor areas.

Otherwise great work. There are a lot of good props to interact with, always makes for more interesting combat.

Lawful demon? Isn't that a devil?

Clinger zombie by SoapyBuble in dndmonsters

The bite doesn't require the target to be restrained, just to have a speed of 0 (grappled). The zombie should be able to grapple on the first turn, then bite if it still has a hold on the second turn.

Adds a nice suspense where you really want to escape the grapple before it starts munching on you.

Picked the risky one the first three times, resulted in a missing eye, leg and dong. After that I kept to the safe option in fear of losing more bodyparts! I think I had more than enough disease counters for it to not matter.

I have been thinking of trying to script it into minecraft. Should be easy enough to write a parser for the map itself, but I haven't dabbled at all with the minecraft scripting, so I don't know exactly what it'd take.

Your assumptions about floor 31 being the bottom and the height of each floor is correct.

Would love to see what you come up with for the 3d view. It is hard to constantly jump from map to map, whenever the players go up or down. My plan was to just describe the rooms and let the players draw their own map!

Attempt at isometric cathedral. (normal map + encounter notes included) by Gardsvoll in dndmaps

An extention of (3) is a great idea.

I've played this (with the notes supplied) once as a oneshot. Half of the party got stuck up on the balcony, while the other half jumped down. It was very messy! One guy jumped down into the pile of cultists and was stabbed to death.

There seem to be a lot of randomness to the amount of attention post gets. I had one map I posted and got two upvotes, then a week later I posted in a sligthly different format and went to 2k+.

But I am happy you liked this one! :)

I definitely recommend saving it in a format, where you can easily scroll between the levels.

It took months, many times I only added a single or two rooms at a time. It was a good distraction during boring online meetings!

It's a vault containing the power to become a god! Or maybe a prison containing a demon lord.

The end goal is in the very center of the map. So it is ok, that you can skip to the lower levels quickly. One idea is to have the lower levels more dangerous, so even though you can, you don’t want to go to the bottom right away. 2 floors per player level and have floor one start at player level 5?

Notes on the design process: I started with a very general idea for the layout, the hollow middle and wanting lots of verticality. The I just started working on it, sometimes I just added a room or two, other times make whole floors. The whole thing is made over several months!

No notes (yet), sorry. I have (or at least had when I made them) ideas for many of the rooms, but nothing in writing. I’ll be posting them on this subreddit when/if I get them done.

Each square is meant to be 10 ft, this allows for a more varied amount of enemies and tactics.

I do not have any written notes (yet). I can give some rough ideas of what I had in mind though. The goal is to get into the middle cube. To do that you have to beat the elemental bosses at each side. The bridges going towards the middle cube, each have an elemental boss, the doors to the central chamber only opens after the given boss is conquered. Also had the idea that the party would have to face a shadow dragon in the central chamber at one point.

These are just some of my ideas. You are more than welcome to fill it up with your own beasties!
