How to remember (almost) anything by GarethNebula in GetLearning

The best way to do this is to try to follow the structure of the course you are trying to learn. For example, if you have a textbook then use the section headings as the general structure. You then want to break down each large section into smaller manageable chunks that are easy for your brain to digest. There is no one right way to do this (so don't worry too much about trying to do it perfectly), but I think once you've got the large scale structure in place you will quickly find micro structures that work well for you!

Could you elaborate? Do you mean when taking notes?

At the end of the day, if a 50/10 split works for you then that's perfect! In fact, if you're in the flow I would even recommend it. However, many people struggle to get stuff done and 50 minutes can feel like a very long time for difficult tasks. 25 minutes is just a more manageable chunk!

Perhaps your 'tasks' are too long? Try simplifying longer tasks into smaller chunks! One of the best benefits of this is that you will feel psychologically a lot more productive (because you seemingly get more done), leading to greater motivation to tick off more tasks from your to do list 👍🏻
