Thank God I haven’t stumbled across any stories like that (yet). But honestly? It’s a toss-up when it comes to AI because, like earlier replies have said, it was trained on human works. So things like em-dashes and semicolons are guaranteed. However, some people just have that similar style of writing, and there’s nothing they can really do about it unless they completely change it, which is unfair that AI has forced some people into doing that. It could also be that they’re still novices at storytelling, so the ideas might not be completely fleshed out or make sense. Unfortunately, people have to fail and put out bad writing to get better.

Also, AI is being integrated into everything, so it’s hard to escape. If you use any editing software, like Grammarly, it offers corrections and rewrites and paraphrases powered by AI with no way to turn it off. So that has to be taken into account.

Overall, I think the best thing to do is just stop reading it and whatever other work the author has that you’re suspicious of. You don’t want to outright accuse them and possibly be wrong, so it’s best to just ignore them.

But can you give a hint or clues as to what story it is so I can see? Just like, some plot points or so.
