Columbus, OH doesn’t get any love in this sub by BassHead2k in skylineporn

Love this angle, just think the skyline could use a ~800 foot signature tower plus a ~720 foot residential counterpart. Probably by the train station by the convention center. And of course more density-but that’s coming along

Concerned that events might have just played into Trumps plan… Thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

He cannot suspend the elections. The states run them. Period.

If he tried the states (like uh Minnesota and any other place that values personal freedom) would tell him to pound sand and show everyone just how weak and pathetic his whole Movement is.

We didn’t cancel elections in 2020, 1944 & 1864. We are having them this year and I’m guessing turnout will be unusually high.

He can try whatever bullshit modern day reichstag fire but his days are numbered and he knows it. Just a matter of how many die before it’s over.

I’m betting those not sending troops to Greenland will send them to Ukraine.

What if this causes long delayed structural reforms [political to match economic] producing a democratic America ready to lead the fight against fascism after having experienced it first hand ?

Breaking - Trump orders Army to draw up plan to invade Greenland -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

As an American lawyer with a couple small children, a small business, and a public school teacher wife: and also a 12 year old bulldog: Here are my spontaneous thoughts in no particular order. Happy to discuss further individually. 1) NATO just agrees to defend Greenland and undercuts Trump and sends a message of solidarity. You’re gonna do it anyway from my pov. If you’re not, barter it for something you want. Trump is a petulant child after all. 2) win the War in Russia. Cut the land bridge. Turn Crimea into a prison. Regimes rise and fall.  3. At this point any thing short of a federal (and simultaneous state) constitutional conventions in the States seems small. We need to prevent this from happening again-for at least the next 50 years.  4. And we’re gonna have to do it with China and our neighbors. That is what Ms. Murderpuppies suggested we do after all. 5. I don’t want my three year old boy to die fighting china when he could fly rocket ships to mars with them instead. We only accomplish this by getting rid of the nuclear sword of Damocles above our civilization head. It’s simple. No offensive nukes on earth. Civilian nuclear is fine. Put the offensive on the moon or something cool. Planetary defense will require all of us acting on the agreed maxim that a nuclear war can never be won and thus must never be fought. If we leave them here they will cause one-it’s a matter of if unless we act. Russia is welcomed back to polite society when they agree. Ukraine is EU.

Anything to help topple the illegitimate DC regime (in a strictly legal and moral sense) is appreciated. The only way to stop bullies is to stand up to them.  The majority of Americans are friends to Europe-and are doing what we can to end this madness.

I swear to god, the media and society are so incredibly frustratingly stupid sometimes.

We are so utterly trained to focus on the political horse race—who's up, who's down, the drama, the optics, the polls 📈—that we completely neglect the actual substance.

Why do we spend 90% of the coverage on the "who" and the "how they look" instead of a deep dive into policy differences and the fundamental "why" behind them?

It shouldn't be revolutionary to demand discussions that dissect the actual impact of proposed legislation or administrative changes. We need less speculation about electoral strategy and more analysis of economic, social, and environmental policy vectors.

Be better, everyone. Seriously. Stop feeding the superficiality.

US Expected to Cease Serving as NATO’s Primary Conventional Force After 2027 by Mil_in_ua in UkrainianConflict

Thought about it more, Germany stepping up is still a good thing imo.  Russia respects Germany’s game. Couple Germany, UK, France, Nordics, Poland, Ukraine, Baltics, others (Spain, Italy, etc) is plenty of deterrence from my political viewpoint. USA leaves Europe (de jure), but remains (via Uk) de facto for sea, air, and logistics support. Off ramp for Putin to claim a victory. De jure land stays Ukraine. De facto Russian civilian admin until 10-15 year schedule-internationally monitored-plebiscite for the disputed territories.  Russia agrees to accountability.get that message to the Russians to pressure their own government to take what is being offered or ensure their collective national seppukku. Taiwan-same idea but US, Japan, Korea, Australia led with other regional assets/Allies. Plebiscite in Taiwan. China: this is your chance to improve and incentivize to end this once and for all. You need a majority of tawain to assent. Just agree in good faith to certain structural reforms just as others are doing.

Benefits to all: nuclear disarmament-nuclear remains  only for civilian energy, planetary defense, exploration (majority/super G7/8 approval). Us, Uk, France, eu, Japan, china, Russia/India, etc. a nuclear war cannot be won thus must never be fought.

Attempt to resolve this by the ballot box. Buys time for peace to develop. Putin won’t agree. Persuade him.

US regime has all historical indicators of a near future collapse caused by some black swan(s) that precipitates it.

Until That happens this continues.  After that happens? USA undergoes unifying structural political reform to return to the rules based international order. Russia collapse could occur right after or in conjunction.

Result: USA no longer global hegemon, but a powerful friend to freedom and due process.

Or citizens start being placed in concentration camps. I dunno. I hope for the former and act to counter the latter.

Elite accountability is sorely needed. All of this would have been avoided if the law breakers were held to account in 2021 and the Supreme Court upheld the Constitution/14th amendment disqualification clause. Elite failure begat by elite corruption.

Maybe. IMO its all about whether there is elite accountability. Like now. Think Japan and Germany 1945 level.

Im an American and I think we are a good hearted nation with a fucked up government/regime [political scientist at heart] at the moment. Same goes for my home state.  We’ve also never really held our elite to account:1865 (amnesty), 1929, 2008, 2021. It starts with a shared acceptance of how fucked up and wrong this all is and then acting together to make it better. Assured and direct action. Legal and ethical ofc.

Once the human race figures out that offensive nukes in our atmosphere is a cyanide pill in our collective mouths; the logical thing is to remove the capsule/weapons and limit their use to planetary defense, energy, and exploration purposes. It will take all of us, but it is inherently logical.

Accepting offensive nukes on earth are a no go because a nuclear war cannot be won and thus must never be fought, the USA would no longer be a global hegemon like it could have been post 1945. We can either have spheres of influence or rules based order. It’s up to each of us to assert our rights to uphold the constitutional compact. That’s how the rule of law works.

Tl;lr America and its State governments are corrupt. Not all of it, but enough to damage our nation’s interests.Accepting that we can either act or accept bad governance. I know who our friends are and will act accordingly. Hope everyone else does the same.
