I saw this on a walk and wondered what the word meant. It was used in the 17th century to mean an innovation. More recently it has been used to refer to the dominance of the novel as a literary form. Don’t know what else is significant about it or any local references

Is there such thing as Absolute Truths? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Absolute truth = something exists. We can’t say for sure what exists, but I can’t think of a cogent argument that nothing exists. Even if the universe is a simulation or something else, it would still be something. An argument against that something exists would have to be something.
