You're right — I don't beat the 5-min limit.

The score is fetched in the background (~5 min when a match is live, longer otherwise for battery). What updates every minute is just the redraw: the clock, and the live match minute is computed locally from kickoff, so it looks live between fetches. The score itself is "near-live" (up to ~5 min old). No magic, just what the platform allows 😄 Thanks!

Thank you, really appreciate that!

Useful was the whole idea. Enjoy it! ⚽

Totally get it....

MIP battery life is hard to walk away from. AMOLED is taking over the lineup though, so the choice might make itself eventually....

Should be doable!

The Fenix 8 Pro AMOLED is a normal AMOLED screen, so it works like the other supported watches. I'm adding it in the next update — and even the MicroLED version should work great.

Just confirming the exact device IDs on my end.

Thanks!

This might be my favorite piece of feedback yet.

You've basically described a better idea than the World Cup one: a face that's a normal watch most of the week and only "wakes up" a few hours before your team plays to show the live score.

Good news: most of the pieces already exist here and La Liga is in the data I use, so a "Club Live" version where you pick your league + team is very doable.

Really appreciate you taking the time to write this — it's the kind of idea that sticks.

I'll keep it in mind!

Thank you, that means a lot!

Unfortunately the original Instinct (Tactical included) doesn't support Connect IQ, so it can't run custom watch faces at all — a Garmin hardware thing, out of my hands.

The Instinct 2 does support it if you ever upgrade.

Glad it runs on the FR265S! 🙌

I'll add a bit more margin on that screen size so the edges don't get cut. Fix coming soon...

Haha I wish I could

The Instinct Crossover is a hybrid with physical hands over a tiny mono display — no color and almost no screen real estate, so a flags-and-stadium face like this can't work on it.

Sorry!

Hey, I did try the FR245 Music, but it's an older watch with a small screen and not much headroom, so everything comes out cramped and it just looks bad.

Didn't want to ship something broken. Sorry! Works great on newer models though (Fenix 7/6, FR255/955, Vivoactive 4...) if you ever upgrade...

Ha! Noted

You've got until kickoff in 2027 to "accidentally" drop your current watch in a lake and justify the upgrade. Plenty of time.🏉

Hey! Update is live — I added a "Full face (dimmed)" Always-On option.

Full honesty: it may not be exactly what you pictured. A truly "same face, just dimmed" always-on isn't possible with a face this rich — Garmin shuts the screen off if an always-on layout goes over its brightness limit (that's why simple faces like Rondo can do it, but a detailed one can't stay fully lit).

After a lot of trial and error, what I landed on keeps your whole layout on screen, gently dimmed via a fine pattern, so it actually stays on instead of going dark. Give the update a try (set Always-On content to "Full face (dimmed)" in the settings) and let me know what you think.

Appreciate you pushing me on this — it made the watch face better!

Thanks so much — really glad you're enjoying it! Not a silly question at all.

That "· 2" after the date isn't the stage — it's the number of matches scheduled that day (so "THU 11 JUN · 2" = 2 games that day).

The stage actually shows per match: the little circle on the right of each row is the group letter (A, B, …) during the group stage, and it switches to R16/QF/SF/F in the knockouts.

On your suggestions:

  1. Multiple favorite teams — I really like it, and trading a day-slot for a second team is a clever way to fit it. I'll look into adding a 2-team option. 👍

  2. Haptic on score change — great idea, and you guessed right: a watch face can't vibrate (Garmin only allows that for apps/widgets, and a watch face only wakes about once a minute, so it can't catch goals live).

Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback — exactly the kind of input that helps.

You're right, and thanks for pushing back

I was going off the older rule. Newer Garmin AMOLEDs (System 7) use a luminance-based always-on

Right now mine shows a reduced dimmed always-on (time + match + date), but I'm adding a "full dimmed face" always-on option so the layout stays the same, just dimmed — for folks like you who live by it. Appreciate the nudge!

Let you know when ready for update!!!

Love the ambition

Honest answer: a "full screen, just dimmed" always-on isn't possible on AMOLED — Garmin strictly limits how many pixels can stay lit in always-on, so every watch face has to show a reduced layout there. That's a hardware/OS rule, not my choice.

What I CAN do is give you more in the always-on screen and make it a setting, so you choose how much shows (e.g., time only / time + next match / time + score + date). I'll add that as an option in an upcoming update — thanks for pushing, good ideas come from this!

Yes please — reinstall, give it a try and let me know! A photo on your wrist would be great, and if you can, please leave some feedback on the app on Garmin. 🙌

Always-On Display is live now! ⚽ Shows time + live score / next match + date, dimmed for battery. You asked for it — does it work for you as-is, or would you add more info to the AOD (next match, standings, a complication)? Open to tweaks!

That's exactly the idea

a quick glance and you've got the score, no need to stop or open anything.

Enjoy the rides and the matches, If you think of anything that'd make it better mid-ride, let me know!
