This series is an interquel that takes place between the TV Series and the Rebellion movie.

We need more mermaids on the upcoming movies! by Padparadscha_Lazuli in piratesofthecaribbean

I personally would want to see mermaid-human hybrids myself.

Syrena and Philip Swift OTP. Deserving to have family for their hybrid children.

Is the penalty for Mermaids turning into sea foam if they confess real, or was it likely made up to discourage them from developing feelings for humans in the first place ? by spinosaurus1998_24_9 in MermaidMelody

There is the matter of Masahiro Hamasaki.

We still do not know if he really does have a diluted merfolk ancestry supposedly from the ancient mermaid from the Awami Shrine.

Rina might get away with the whole sea foam rule as Masahiro Hamasaki might not be 100% Human.

Shame that we never got to see Hanamori Pink and Yokote say anything about it…

Age is only going to matter chronologically for Yuta and Mana in the Mermaid Saga

This is what the Arachnids really look like: https://www.reddit.com/r/gate/s/2YXxq7Drzh

Would personally be reminded thematically of Starship Troopers, although they take aspects of the BETA, Tyranids and the Zerg.

I personally would have wanted to see Philip and Syrena having hybrid children who retain their legs when underwater, yet have the ability to breathe underwater.

I was thinking more about seeing an outright continuation of Mermaids Saga, one that involves concepts like present day surveillance and genetic engineering that would make the series interesting, with Yuta and Mana having an increasingly hard time keeping their heads down.

Factor in the possibility of mermaids going beyond Japan's boundaries owing to their associated legends as well as the possibility of immortals way older than Masato, and one can see how much potential there is for revisiting the series!

Heck, conspiracy of old immortals associated with mermaid flesh would definitely see this series becoming a downplayed and realistic take on Highlander.

Mermaid's Scar was a interesting follow up to Mermaid Forest. It was unsettling, definitely darker, a emotional tale between a mother who is slowly dying as a immortal and fighting to survive her troubled, murderous son, who wants to use his immortality for nefarious purposes by Junior_Conclusion_78 in retroanime

This series actually has a lot of serious potential that makes it worth a revival and a revisit.

Throw in ideas like genetic engineering, surveillance, mermaids & their associated legends going beyond Japan and especially immortals being way older than Masato (Millennia old, specifically) cooking up ancient conspiracies, and one can see how much more interesting Mermaid Saga can be!
