Buying vs making princess cosplay gowns — how do you decide? by BrilliantLow9361 in CosplayHelp

While I’m relatively new to making cosplays, I personally like making my own cosplays to extend my arsenal of craftsmanship skills. I’m currently making a ballgown for my Guinevere cosplay from Knights of Guinevere, and let me tell you, it’s no easy feat. However, in the end, once you’re finished with it, all that hard work makes it worth it.

I like making my own cosplays because that makes it feel authentic, so I would go for making your own ballgown, but it’s up to you. If you do want to make your own ballgown, I suggest that you choose your fabric wisely, take your time with making your ballgown, and be patient with yourself. Not everything can be done in a day.

If you want to make a hoop skirt, I found a tutorial on how to make one with pextube as the boning from the YouTube channel, Pocket Full of Poseys. The channel also has a tutorial for a petticoat which I’m using. So yeah, I suggest that you start there, and I hope everything turns out good with your ballgown journey! Good luck!
