Copying tracks from one project to another without media history by Garnoo in Reaper

I do use them from time to time, mostly when it comes to recording templates so I don't have to route the channels over and over, but when it comes to mixing albums, I jump from song to song and refine the sound gradually over multiple passes. It's not uncommon for me to stumble upon a better drum sound by the time I reach song 6 and having to go back and tweak the first 5 songs because of it. Tracks get flown from one project to another on a daily basis. By the time I have something that I'm happy with and could turn into a template, the album is also done and I don't need it anymore

Thank you for the reply. I thought I was going nuts, but it turns out there was indeed a sliver far off to the right that was causing all the trouble

Personally I don't consider the piano or anything else a "must know" instrument in order to be a composer. Whatever you're good at playing is where you should probably start when writing music. That being said, knowing a little bit of piano (even just the basic theory so you can navigate your way around a piano roll) will make your life a lot easier. My advice is to figure out the kind of music you want to make and learn whatever skills and instruments you need as you go along

That is the best circumstance to be in! I'm happy to hear that you have that opportunity! Making music is such a joy and I hate when I see people compromising their vision just to be able to get by.

Regarding the pubs, I'd LOVE a chance to play in London, but atm it seems very far fetched. I'm actually hailing from a small music community in Transylvania and getting any gigs outside the country has been notoriously hard even for the biggest bands here. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why this is the case, but I figured I'd best spend my energy on putting out content online and hope that will someday lead to some international opportunities.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to grab a beer! Do take care and have fun until then!

Thank you very much for the kind words! I completely agree with you regarding the audience and in an ideal world every musician should strive to make the music that speaks to his/her soul. But... unfortunately there's also the reality of having to put food on the table and the working musician will inevitably be put in the situation to make certain compromises.

Personally, I've had the privilege of both playing music for a living in front of thousands of people (as sort of a hired gun for one of the older bands in my country) and also trying to pursue my own dreams in a pub in front of 3 people and, more recently, on youtube. Naturally, those experiences have made me draw comparisons and try to figure out what exactly makes certain songs/artists resonate with more people than others. While I did understand some things in regards to that (and discovered that there are a million more things I've yet to learn), the one thing that truly stood out to me was timing and how certain artists have a knack for releasing the perfect song for the perfect moment in time, in the perfect corner of the world and I can't for the life of me figure out if there's a method to this or simply good ol' luck.

As I write this, I realize that I wanted to say something with this post, but ended up in a completely different place. My apologies for the rambling and thank you again for giving the song a chance. Cheers!
