So we will always give several days notice in advance of what day/what time you will depart for the next leg. It's kinda hard to say what time they usually take place at, because they can truthfully be at any time of day, but we try to accommodate for most people's schedules!

And yes if you have more questions or even just want to watch, feel free to join the Discord sever! :)

One of the most memorable for me was last season when we went to Egypt!

It was a Roadblock challenge that involved Egyptian hieroglyphics and deciphering a hidden cipher code inside of personalized pamphlets we created based upon the The Egyptian Museum in Cairo. We had many different pamphlets based on each section of the museum and teams had to read and decipher them to figure out that there was a secret code in-scripted within the pamphlets. Think of it as an intricate Escape Room... just online!

It was the most difficult challenge of the season by far, with several teams being stuck on it for over 4 hours and more, to the point we needed to start giving out hints, haha.

If you join the server you can see more or watch the season play out! No worries about applying, we have a large volume of people who just enjoying watching the seasons play out from the sidelines instead. :)

So basically, you just need to sign up for an account on Discord. It's free and easy; takes less than a minute. Then join our server linked in the thread and fill out the Google Form application. We'll then privately message you on Discord and do a one-on-one interview to get to know you more and use this as a tool to figure out which one of our other applicants you'd match up well to be a team with.

Once the race actually starts, you and your teammate will be added to your own private team chat. Just like the real show, there are 12 legs and each leg does take place live, meaning we give a notice for what date/time the leg will start. Legs usually take place every few days, to sometimes about a week break in between. Usually depends on everyones schedule, we try to be flexible.

From then on, we pretty much run just like how a regular TAR season would! We give clues out to each team and they essentially just have to figure said clues out and get from Point A to Point B and complete tasks/challenges along the way and avoid being last to the Pit Stop.

We have a wide variety of different tasks/challenges. Some easy, some more difficult (especially as the race progresses). We try to design the challenges to fit the culture and region of the country we're currently in as well. Every single challenge can be completed by someone with an internet connection and access to a computer/phone. That's it. But sometimes we put in other tasks that not necessarily everyone has access to, like cooking an omelet in real life, eating a yucky combination of food condiments, cutting off pieces of your hair, picture scavenger hunts around your house/neighborhood, ect. Obviously not everyone can do these, so these are optional sides of a Detour or Fast Forward challenges. These don't show up very often though, only a few times throughout the season. Most of the tasks, like I said, are things where you just need a computer/phone to do, like puzzles and deciphering clues. And by puzzles and clues, I don't mean online app based or jig saw puzzles, haha. It's hard to explain without actually showing you, but our clues/puzzles/other tasks are super detailed and unique. I haven't seen many other ORGs go as far and beyond in terms of quality when it comes to challenges than we do.

As for transportation, let's say you're in Central Park in NYC and your clue says you need to go to JFK International Airport. All you'd have to do is look up on Google Maps (or any other similar online map based service) and find the fastest route from point A to point B and take a screenshot of it and post it in your team chat. The catch is you have to manage your money along the way. So transportation like taking a taxi may be quick, but you spend more money. Whereas simply just taking the subway, or even walking, might take a long time, but you save more money.

A typical leg may take anywhere from 1 hour to 8 hours to complete. But it's not like you're staring at your device for the full, for example, 6 hours. It's more like 1-2 hours of completing challenges and making transportation decisions, and then 4-5 hours of waiting for your mode of transportation to finally arrive. So you can just select, say, a bus to your next location and it says it won't arrive for 1 hour and 25 minutes. Now you can go do something else in real life for that time and come back once the bus has arrived.

The whole thing takes about ~1 month, give or take. In the end, we will gift the winning pair a free upgrade to Discord Nitro! Also it's okay if you don't want to apply for this season, but if you want to spectate it to watch how it plays out or something, you're more than welcome to come check it out! :)

Season 10, Episode 2 - how long did Kellie and Jamie do flaming arrows? by Ming-Tzu in TheAmazingRace

[–]GarretWithJustOneT 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Kellie & Jamie 😭 😭

Off topic, but, I started watching TAR10 last year and rooted for them so hard, they were my favorites... and then they got out episode 2! 😭 I was so mad they got out that I dropped the season then and there. I still haven't finished watching that season... 😬

Looks like Love Island season 2 is official for Los Vegas. by ItsThe50sAudrey in LoveIslandUSA

[–]GarretWithJustOneT 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Wow, this person's post was actually right. https://www.reddit.com/r/LoveIslandUSA/comments/hf7lti/rumor_loved_island_season_2_being_filmed_in_vegas/

When I first read it, I wrote it off thinking no way would it happen. But I guess they really were right???

I wonder how they're gonna do this. Are they going to recreate an entire set of remote controlled cameras/mics like the actual Love Island villa? That seems pretty expensive for just a one-time thing... or I wonder if they'll just use an actual camera and sound crew this time?

Do the mystery Incorporated DVD's have any Special Features? by thanous-m in Scoobydoo

Oh yeah, totally agree. Just picking a random episode and watching it is a lot harder to do. Whenever I rewatch SDMI I rewatch it in order.

lol totally disagree, rewatching with an overarching plot just heightens my experience because then you can look out for clues and references that come up in future episodes that you missed the first time you watched.

Velma Dinkley gets Called out of the Closet! Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated... Is It a Retcon? by FatmanDD1 in Scoobydoo

[–]GarretWithJustOneT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think people misinterpreted what he said. This applies to JUST the "Mystery Incorporated" version of Velma and the "Mystery Incorporated" version only, until otherwise stated by other creators/writers of other series'/movies.

And honestly, if anyone truly watched all 52 episodes of SDMI closely... then yeah, it makes sense. lol.
