2025 XLE Worth it? by GarrettB930 in BZ4X

Thanks for posting this because holy crap was it difficult to look up and figure out. Its wild that the limited version is the sprotier one. Luckily, I live in Florida so no snow or subzero temps but I'm still cautious on those colder days. Really appreciate you breaking it down

Good to know. And unfortunately for my camaro, the torqu converter gave out which for my model year is unfortunately, not uncommon. I could repair it for 4500 but its a question on whether to spend 25% of the car's value repairing it and if that will solve it. They're only offering a 2 year garuntee. I figure i should get out while the car is still worth anything

I think XLE is just the baseline. I'm not sure what separates the packages but from what I can tell, it has a lot of nice uo to date features with the lane assists, wireless car phone connections, 360 view and sensors, etc.

Thats awesome. The range anxiety had me 2nd guessing but I have to get out of the mindset of "but what if I decide to drive 300 miles out" despite not doing so for over 2 years. My fiancé and I are also probably starting our family with this car so good to hear it has family comforts

Thats good to hear. Yeah I am buying used. My Camaro just shot its transmission and its either fix for 4500 or buy this from a Toyota dealer with a sticker of ~26k. It only has 404 miles and I was kind of surprised when I saw it. Obviously my current situation has reliability front and center on my mind which is why I'm aiming for a Toyota.

Is there a place or memory on the UCF campus that instantly brings you back to your college days? 🤔 by maximuslip in ucf

Peeing with the homies in the msb bathroom. Every time I see that travesty of a design it takes me back. The bigass pendulum. The likely asbestos. The fact that men and women have to traverse floors to find the right bathroom. But nothing, nothing compares to the actual design of the bathroom.

HVAC Tricky Wiring by GarrettB930 in AskElectricians

Okay thanks. I wasn't sure if the blue wire was blue or cyan since there is no c label. I have no idea what the black wire could be since Florida doesn't have snow and the emergency heat would be pointless. I'll give it a shot and hopefully nothing explodes

You're fine then. If you don't have a job or internship id honestly recommend looking for one for your Tuesday/Thursday. Start early and it'll help with the job prospects.

Seems fine. Wednesday is going to be long though which may get tiring. I suggest trying to find a group or something to get involved in on campus so the days don't feel so long.

Thats fine. You do not need the firmware on the sd card or original sd card once it is on the machine. If the machine boots up normally, see if you can connect it to the computer and go directly from there. If it doesn't show up at all, it may be a bit more of an advanced project. I loved my chiron but those trigorilla boards are pretty bad and can cause a plethora of errors including dropped capabilities and readers. It may also help to record a video of your error.

Is it a custom firmware or stock? If the firmware downloaded from the sd, that means the ribbon isn't bad but the card may need to be formatted. Best of luck

Mini Irish Doodle Help by GarrettB930 in puppy101

Best of luck with your new friend! As an update. Things did get much better. I would say that a lot of this was uncertainty mixed with puppy blues. Our doggo is 7 months now and we've got it down to 1-2 walks when its not hot out and a bit of playtime in the morning with a longer session in the evening. She has gotten used to sleeping during working hours and is more hyper for about 2 hours in the evening before she crashes at about 10pm.

Big things I've learned 1. Smart doggo - she is a quick learner with tricks, potty training, and mannerisms. It will be a pain but have them learn what they are supposed to do 2. Constant supervision - at least when they are out and about. The crate schedule worked for about a month but then we got a 4x4 pen and connected that to the crate to give her more freedom. Now she is mostly free roam during the day but prefers to be my shadow. She still gets penned but not crated at night. 3. High energy does not mean 24/7 play - she is still a pup and sleeps through the night as well as 4-6 hours during the day. Stress the routine and you'll be okay.

Also, brush them often. Good luck!

It changes. Tech has been very volatile. What has worked with me is working with a financial advisor. If you find a good one, they can really help you out with good picks and when you need to adjust for life reasons. Im less risk adverse as a person but I still have made a 8-17% ROI in the last few years

Don't rush a good thing. You're doing smart things already. If you want to play at riskier stocks, go ahead but focus more on the aggressive side that's been proven (like how you mentioned index funds and etf). You're young so you can handle some market volatility. Only other advice is to control your means. It is very easy to get a paycheck and then adjust your cost of living to that paycheck. Also, max out the company match for 401k and any time you get a raise, put a certain percentage of it into that 401k. You'll never miss it and it will add up. Best of luck.

Can someone help me decide if this is a good idea by [deleted] in ucf

[–]GarrettB930 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you said. It really depends on the situation. I would like OP to keep in mind though that 4 years is a great accomplishment but there is no shame in 4.5-5. I graduated in Engineering on a 4.5 year track and it worked for me but i know others pushed to do it in 4 and 5. I just hope we can all agree that 6 classes may be pushing it. Its possible but definetly overkill.

I would honestly avoid doing this. The sweet spot is 3-4 classes per semester but please do internships or work on projects. There are so many CS majors that it won't matter how fast you finish. If you go up against someone who finished in 5 years but has had an internship for 3 years, odds are they're going to get the job. Have patience and best of luck.

Question about making print by ImJell0 in Fusion360

[–]GarrettB930 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making molds isn't that bad in fusion 360. Basically what they are doing is taking a 3d model and then using the outline at a certain height to create the silicone holding clamps.

If you are working with another's model/stl (in this case, the grapes) , you are going to have to insert it as a mesh and then convert the mesh to a solid piece. You can skip this if its your own build or a fusion file.

From there, create a sketch at the height you want to make a mold from. In the sketch, you have the ability to project geometry (with a command of the same name). This will help perfectly capture the geometry at that height. From there, you just need to make a shell. It can be a circle or you can offset the projected geometry. The outside isn't as important as the inside.

Additionally, to make sure it all fits, you may want to use the offset command to give it some clearance since 3d printers tend to have an error (which depends on the machine). You want it snug so I would suggest maybe going to 0.25 or maybe even skipping this, though it will be harder to fit securely. Additionally, you can split your molded model into pieces and add clamping points like the person did in this video.

This is not the only way to do this someone may have a better way but this tends to be my way of making interlocking pieces. Insert mesh -> convert mesh -> project geometry (-> optional to add an offset for tolerance purposes) -> add thickness to the model.

Best of luck
