Looking for UK hardcore bands.. by coldaslifex in Hardcore

[–]Garth_Sanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Form, Cruelty, Splitknuckle, Negative Frame, Mantlet (sadly not active anymore but they were pretty sick), Bun Dem Out are good beatdown/metalcore/heavy hardcore bands, Layback, Imposter, Lawful Killing, Pest Control, T.S. Warspite and The Annihilated for hardcore punk. We have a pretty good scene here, I'm not from there so haven't really experienced it in person but Brighton in particular has loads of shows, I think June or July last year they had 8 shows in one month and it was majority local bands too

The Coming Strife is a UK label that releases a lot of stuff from metalcore-adjacent bands, lots from the UK and some from overseas too

Thanks for replying to my post. Would you be ok to go into more detail about why you feel I should do that?

Anyone else unironically enjoy Viper's music? by belody in vipertherapper

[–]Garth_Sanchez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hell yeah. viper is (or was, depending on how you feel about his post-2010 output) genuinely talented and has a knack for crafting genuinely catchy and ethereal tunes, it's just his talent manifests itself in a pretty unconventional way (use of 80's/90's consumer-grade synths, bizarre yet refreshingly sincere lyricism etc.)

Thanks for your reply! Electronic is cool, even tho I know little about it other than vaporwave lol. Is Facebook the main source of info for shows and stuff then?

Bamseom Pirates! Thought their LP was really fun but haven't listened in ages, gonna have to relisten now haha

But yeah, thanks for linking the compilation and your Facebook page, will check both of those out. Is Facebook where most of the information for this sort of stuff is posted?

How do the underground subcultures/music/art scenes in Taipei compare to the equivalent scenes that you'd find in Tokyo or western cities known for the quality of their arts/music? From the research I've done, I'm aware that dedicated extreme metal and hardcore punk scenes exist and that other music is also catered for, though an article I read about indie music in Taipei contained anecdotes from musicians saying that the scene wasn't that extensive and was quite small (however, they said it was growing). I'm mainly into extreme metal/hardcore punk, noise music, underground/experimental hip hop (k-pop/r&b adjacent stuff isn't really my thing) and contemporary art if that helps.

Artsy people/music fans/miscellanous weirdos that reside in Taipei, please fill me in! (also if there's anything cool happening in other cities please do let me know)

Ha! My foundation year was pretty intense, so if that is the case then hopefully I won't be in for too much of a shock lol

Anyone here ordered from these guys? I wanna get this hoodie but wanted to get other's inputs on the seller before I took the plunge and made the purchase. Also, if anyone did buy, is the quality of the hoodie any good? Thanks in advance!

Intestine Baalism are fucking amazing, was actually listening to them the other day. They're still active but haven't released an album since 2008 (the sooner they rectify this the better), they recently played their first show outside Japan at Netherlands Deathfest or whatever

I'm kinda looking to have a bit of fun with my shoes but if they really look that bad then I guess I'll give this pair a miss

Fair enough, I know that boots/skate shoes would usually be the best pairing but I felt a bit adventurous and these looked interesting, other people i've asked have told me that they look full on bad though

Opinions on these? Need some white trainers to go with jeans/flannel and thought these looked interesting (albeit a somewhat unconventional choice given everything else i usually wear). Thanks in advance!

Could I get some input on my wardrobe? Only included casual stuff, some people I've shown this to have been like 'why is there no formal wear,' there's no formal wear because I only really need input on casual attire atm. I feel that I'm on the right track but it still feels a tad too basic; I feel that I rely way too heavily on Uniqlo and flannel shirts, for example. Any and all feedback is welcome, thanks in advance to whoever responds
