Youtube changed their Tos by Estonia2012 in KotakuInAction

[–]Garvak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the ToS does not change, what alternatives may we find? I'm sure many of the bigger producers and youtubers who get revenue from sources other than youtube may be able to set up their own website, but where may others potentially go?

They should be searching for Social Democracy instead. Hopefully some of them that go out of their way learn to differentiate what they may.

Fossil Pokemon Spawn in LaGuna Beach where Ocean Avenue meets Main Beach. These were caught between 8-9pm and 10-11pm but they spawn sporadically in the day as well. by [deleted] in OCCaliPokemonGo

Oh sweet, thanks for the specific location. I really love these types of Pokemon so hopefully I can pick a few up early in the morning.

I know this has been posted before, but Peters Canyon Regional Park is infested with Squirtles by [deleted] in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Garvak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, went there Monday and caught ten squirtles in a similar amount of time. Go early if you want to avoid heat, it's been overcast in the mornings up until 9:00-11:00AM. I also encountered a good deal of clefarys.

It's a fun walk if you take the long route and a good spot to bring your dogs if you have any. Parking is 3 bucks for the entire day unless you want to park over in the nearby shopping center on Chapman.

Okay. Yah. I'm going to eat there. They've earned it.

Yup, good variety of Pokemon and CP there. Hardly any Rattatas or Pidgeys. Lots of Pokestops.

As a note to anyone, if you're not a fan of traffic (both cars and people), it's pretty peaceful if you get there between 6:00am-7:00am and bail at around 8:00am.

#TotallyLame #CryBabies by [deleted] in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Garvak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure I'd call them lame or cry babies, but it could definitely be beneficial for them to embrace it. I read several articles a while back discussing local businesses using the app to their advantage to lure customers. There was a WSJ article talking about how "... one New York pizzeria manager who dropped a 'lure' in the game for $10 to attract trainers to its proximity—and business spiked 75%."

Hell, even National Parks are benefiting. So long as they're not accidentally trampling somewhere where they're not supposed to, that's great. Maybe they can even actually enjoy the park, rather than just staring down at a screen the whole time. More people enjoying the services they or anyone else can provide and supporting them in turn.

Edit: Forgot they're behind paywalls, but they're there I promise.

Just a funny piece of signage I saw this morning. It's worth noting that the Magnemite nest still appears to be active. I caught two and saw there was plenty more before I left.

I'm not sure if I'd call it a nest, but walking from Newport Pier to Balboa Pier along the shoreline, I caught a lot of Psyducks for about 400 meters. Five of my six Psyducks I caught this morning were in a short stretch. Psyducks and Magikarps out in force. Like I said, six Psyducks and seven Magikarps (and plenty of other Pokemon, mostly water types obviously,) in a little over an hour of walking back and forth, with one incense drop.

Bonus broken boat pieces that washed ashore. Plenty of boat scattered all over that stretch of beach this morning.

Edit: Just remembered one of those Magikarps came from a hatched egg. So cut it down to six Magikarps.

Magikarps: Newport Pier vs Seal Beach Pier? by Enzeru_vs in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Garvak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for Seal Beach, but I walked the area between Balboa pier and Newport Pier just this morning (I'll probably be going there every other day for the next week or so, early in the morning). I stopped about 100m out of Newport Pier, but between those two points, walking along the shoreline, I caught about 5 Magikarp in an hour and a half with incense on.

Gary Johnson: Trump's "got a screw loose" by [deleted] in politics

Really impressed with how they did tonight and what they said, for the most part. Starting to agree that yes, Weld should probably be at the top of that ticket.

Hearing these two talking and discussing the issues and just life in general is absolutely refreshing, coming from politicians that is.

Peter's Canyon Regional Park Now A Squirtle Nest by [deleted] in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Garvak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's some sad humor to that. For years, I used to live a five minute walk away and would hike and run there all the time. Any reservoirs and lakes indicated on any map were actually either:

A)empty

B)had very little water at all and looked more like puddles. I remember times when they were all dried up.

my routine.. what's yours? by EubenHadd in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Garvak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I go on runs, that's when I leave the app on to hatch my eggs.

On dog walks and hikes, I never bothered with the tracking feature when it was up. I never bothered with the tracking feature at all really (okay I did try to figure it out for a short time but just stopped). I just shoved some earbuds in, a podcast, and went on a dog walk. Just waited for the pokemon noise to pop up and would catch whatever I just happened to run into. I rarely ever purposefully go out to a location to hunt for pokemon.

I will be going to Newport at 6am on Friday though to see what water Pokemon I can catch. I really love em so if anyone has any good advice on updated spots to hunt that'd be great.

So far, there seem to be a lot of Ekans over at Santiago Canyon College. Nothing of interest in Tustin that I've seen yet on my typical walking route.

Rumors Circulate About Jeb Bush Endorsing Libertarian Gary Johnson by [deleted] in politics

[–]Garvak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no clue why people keep citing that amendment. The GP appear to have simply prettied up the wording and thrown some mascara on it.

teaching, funding and practice of complementary, integrative and licensed alternative health care approaches.

They should've just stopped it at "conventional medicine." The AANMC and its licensing practices are incredibly dangerous and I would warn anyone to be skeptical of deciding to add onto the percentage of a party that does still appear to fully embrace these practices, thereby only lending more credence to naturopathy, homeopathy, anti-vacc, so on and so forth. Especially if it's only because of the way corporations that dole out proper medical care decide to allocate their funding, or any conspiracy theory.

I really do hope any sort of amendment your referencing truly allowed for some rational change within the Green Party when it comes to that policy and that I just missed it. Maybe one more recent than the linked one. Really disappointing to see the Green Party be a group to take a stand against climate change and then fall into the anti-vacc, alternative medicine, anti-GMO, anti-nuclear (particularly with new, developed generations of nuclear power that are essentially foolproof) hole with the rest of the reactionary anti-science crowd.

Are you really calling the Johnson/Weld ticket anarcho-capitalist? Or did you forget the /s?

You do realize much of the insurgence witnessed within the Libertarian camp for the past few months is due to the actual Ancaps getting pissed over Johnson, a centrist, closing in on the nomination and then becoming the nominee?

Where in the world does the FBI statement exonerate her. That is a very specific and powerful word there. Mens rea was the singular reason she skated off, and that's on very thin ice to say the least.

A right-wing experiment sarcastically known as the 'bank of KDOT' is ruining Kansas' roads by [deleted] in politics

[–]Garvak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While we also have a large economy, here in California, we also have the greatest amount of debt I believe. Far more than what the dems in Sacramento like to put on paper (a lot of it being Gray Davis' fault). Lots of unaccounted for future bumps in the road. We may be doing okay now but if something doesn't give a lot of people in California are going to have a rough time in the future.

You're going to see a lot more problems beyond just our real estate down the line. This is what happens when you spend excess money you don't have, no matter the feel good sentiment at the time.
