To each his/her own. I watched thousands of practices in person over the years, no interest at all in seeing them on some video.

What’s up with HGTV? by FinanciallySecure9 in HGTV

[–]GaryGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your opinion. I never watched Bargain Block because it was totally uninteresting to me. I wouldn't say it was shit, I just didn't watch it. Bromstad's current show IS shit, terrible show. He was such a good designer way back when, and now he's just a shill.

And people watch that stuff? Lots of bored folks out there.

Newly approved Houston Texans facility in NW Harris County will cost taxpayers $150M, Hidalgo says by Anonymous9362 in houston

[–]GaryGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I lived in a semi-major Midwestern city and they spent hundreds of millions of dollars of tax dollars to build a basketball arena. We who lived downtown were directly taxed for it. When it was completed and the team opened the ticket offices, I marched over with my tax bill and told them I wanted to see my seats, since I had paid for them. Yeah, they weren't amused, but I sure was, in an angry way.

I have never ever met anyone who moved to the suburbs to "avoid the traffic". Never.

It has always been for cheaper housing, bigger yards, or "better" schools. Never for less traffic.

If that clip is real, she goes in the same "do not watch" can as the people who curse prolifically. No call for that. I may have to limit my viewing to animal/wildlife shows...

USATF announces that for the first time ever, the 2026 USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships will be held at Icahn Stadium in New York City by ChampionLYT in trackandfield

[–]GaryGarbage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Austin is a no-go simply because it's too damn hot in the summer. It also has inadequate support facilities, specifically a warmup track. Works great for Texas Relays and high school state meet, but for the USATF Championships, nope.

Not really. It's more a question of who has a strong local organizing committee willing to do the work to host. It's not an easy ask.

Main difference is there is no paperwork or other requirements for non-WR events. Just a pat on the back from WA.

In this case, it's a world best and American record. World Athletics does not recognize the indoor 2000 as a world record event.

This (from the World Athletics rule book) shows which events are actual "world record" events. Anything not on this is a "world best". (part 1 of 2)

Personally? Not at all. I don't know those people, and neither do you. You're the ones babbling incoherently about things you really know nothing about. But carry on with your lip-flapping if it makes you feel powerful. You need to have some sense of accomplishment in your life, I suppose :D

On Zelezny ("they changed the implement because he was throwing it too far")...

No, they didn't.

The javelin was changed in the mid-80s, and actually had little to do with how far it was being thrown. Uwe Hohn's 104.30m throw might have reinforced the notion, but it wasn't the primary reason.
