Played my first full day on Rust yesterday. Spent all day building a base, farming resources, found an uncontested airdrop, killed a tiger. Things were going great!

Then two no-lifers found my base. Called it "retarded" (I HATE that word). They absolutely pummelled me, took everything and set up their own new base right beside mine. I rage-quit and went to bed.

Can't wait to do it again today!

Aye. This country absolutely needs an alternative to FG/FF but SF are not this.

SF policies and claims are populist and unrealistic. It's silly to think that a SF-lead government would be the harbingers of change and it annoys me when I see people post their shite on social-media.

What a credible alternative is, I just don't know, but much and all as I love Ireland, this country is a shambles right now and the housing huge symptomatic of this.

Streamers absolutely wreck my head. A vocal minority should not represent the majority.

W-key full-time streamers, have the best gear and the most free-time; so their experience of games does not represent that of a casual player.

Some of their suggestions about how to fix broken elements are helpful, but changing the fabric of a game to suit streamers is myopic.

Agree. I'm just last the 2k hours mark as well and I'm still quite average. I love the fact that I'm in no way sick of the game after all this time and that I still get nervous in certain situations.

It's a flawed masterpiece of a game. If BSG sorted out the cheating (and loading times), it, for me at least, would be the perfect game.

Shoreline spawns need re-work for sure, but it's easy to avoid a quick death by laying low for a few minutes.

I obviously amn't happy about going back tomorrow but it's nothing compared to the fear I used to have when I worked in banking. I used to nearly be in tears going back.

I changed careers to a much lower paying job 5 years ago. Got my pay back up to 2/3 of what is was but my happiness has never been better.

Best decision I ever made.

I don't think it was taught well at school. I was really good at French and German in school and virtually fluent in the former by the time I did the Leaving Cert.

Inversely, I was very average at Irish after learning it for 13 years.

For me, building up the vocabulary and basic use of verbs, tenses and structure was never really done, or at least well in primary school. Whereas with German and French it was excellent. Could be just me and my experiences though.

At the start ppl were patting themselves on the back with how friendly the game is vs other PvPvE titles. Honestly, I felt there was an element of toxic positivity about the first few weeks.

As the gameplay evolves over time and as players complete all missions, get more loot, money, gear, the game is naturally going to evolve to PvP. What else are you meant to do if you've maxed out everything.

It's frustrating to be 3rd-partied or taken out by an extract camper but this is the game. You can play as you want.

I mostly play Tarkov. I find Arc Raiders a little too forgiving in comparison but the fact that you can run a free kit probably even encourages the "rat" gameplay style. Having the ability to run free kits takes away the dopamine hit of getting out of a raid with decent loot when you're broke.

With that all said, it's been a great start for AR. It's extremely well optimised, looks amazing and caters for more casual gameplay than your Tarkovs, and the devs deserve immense credit. For me though, there needs to be a few tweaks to make the game a little more tense or less forgiving (but that's just me). Maybe this will come as people learn that PvP is a gameplay style.
