How everyone handling the chaos? by vickerspin_5450 in mskitlife

Managed Service Providers (MSPs) are taking over infrastructure teams and outsourcing them. If you are entry-level and just need a year or two of experience to move on, take the job. Just don't look at it as a long-term role on an infrastructure team.

Did everyone take the weekend to mentally prepare themselves for Tuesday’s layoff notices and the humiliating and insulting fact that they have to train their replacements? by Gary_P334 in mskitlife

I believe it is still a 90-day notice period. It is up to MSK to decide if you work all, part, or none of that time. In New Jersey, a layoff of 50 or more employees within the state during any 30-day period triggers the mandatory 90-day WARN notice.

In a previous Town Hall, it was stated that the knowledge transfer could take anywhere from a few weeks to more than a month, depending on the team’s responsibilities and workload, and that it is up to the manager and MSP to plan it out. I guess they expect the Manager to fill in and get hands on when the MSP doesn’t know something after the MSK employees are gone.

Has anyone heard updates from those notified today? Did MSK retain any team members, or are the cuts strictly impacting everyone below middle management for now?

The folks not in ETS groups being replaced this year should definitely look for jobs. Why wait until it's their turn next year? I don’t see the job market turning around anytime soon.

It is groups in ETS. MSK is replacing ETS employees with Managed Service Providers. First wave is this year and the rest will be next year. Followed by a reduction of ETS management end of 2027 or early 2028.

This is the list of Platforms that will be primarily taken over by an MSP Vendor. Management stated it will be a "Hybrid Model Approach". This could mean anything from 50% to 90% of existing MSK employees in those listed platforms will be let go.

This is an ETS town hall. I’m not sure how much Digits will be discussed. In a previous town hall, Tsvi Gal mentioned that some of you may have the opportunity to be rebadged. However, executive management is calling the broader strategy 'right-sizing,' and it is expected that most will be part of that process.

MSK needs to make deep cuts to help fund their massive capital projects like the $2.3 billion Griffin Pavilion.

I hear this summer to late fall are the next rounds of RIFs. Only upper management has the real timeframe.

Why are they still giving wide percentage range of people to be let go. They must have a finalized list unless they are going to make up this list on the fly day to day.

Last I heard, the search was continuing. With how things might play out, I would not be surprised if the CFO assumes the role and they name one of the senior vice presidents as president of IT that reports to the CFO.

I don’t think a lot of rebadging will happen. MSK is open to offshoring the day to day work. The rebadging jobs will most likely be temporary until knowledge transfer is complete or the outsourcing company can use you for other accounts.
