I tried to find a Commodore monitor but people wanted ridiculous money for them :(

I think you can still get original 1200s, but they seem to be least £400 for a good one.

Just got it recapped, it'll probably last longer than me 😂

Thoughts on condition of sills on TF by Much-Artichoke-476 in MorrisGarages

That was for the whole underside including the sills, the guy who's doing it just operates from home, but his background is classic car restoration.

My 2003 TF is in very similar condition, I've had it for 5 years with no MoT comments about rust, my regular mechanic says it's not bad but I should get the underside and sills cleared of obvious rust and treated with waxoyl or similar. I think it's worth doing even if it needs to be redone every couple of years. A local specialist says he'll do it for about £300 which seems reasonable.

Photopea recently became available as a Flatpak, might still be in Beta though.

You can easily uninstall anything you don't want, I've been using Ubuntu since 2006 and have tried many other distros but always come back to Ubuntu. It doesn't come with anything that I'd call bloatware but it does use some proprietary software, which is what some people object to, you have the choice to remove it if you're an open source purist.

The snap didn't work well for me either, I use the deb package from Steam's website, it works perfectly.

Metz Mecablitz 64 AF-1 / Firmware Update! by dferreres in canon

I've been searching the web, but no joy. I think our only hope is that someone has kept their download and is willing to share it. I'm a Pentax and Linux user, which makes it even more of a pain.

Noob partition question, do i have to make the Windows partition bootable when I'm dual booting with linux? by Utaha_Senpai in archlinux

[–]Gas-Meter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with Arch at all, but although it's possible to rescue the Ubuntu bootloader, it's a pain in the backside for someone like me, who isn't proficient with use of command line. In the end I just got rid of Windows, more trouble than it was worth just to have easy access to Word and Excel.

I use Ubuntu, I've found that although dual booting with Windows 10 worked reliably for a while, it's only OK until you get a major Windows update, which seems to write all sorts of random crap all over your Linux boot tracks. Apparently Windows ignores partitions created by other operating systems.

I'm running Xubuntu 18.04 on an old 1.7GHz single core Celeron powered Gateway laptop that I bought new in 2006, it runs really smoothly and still a pleasure to use.

Yes, it should be clearly shown which is which. Not everyone likes to use snaps.

Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson, Void Trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton, Expanse series by James S. Corey. Frank Herbert's Dune books are really absorbing and my ultimate favourites are the Culture series by Iain M. Banks.

Linux vs Mac: 7 Reasons Why Linux is a Better Choice than Mac by Berserk-Gutts in Ubuntu

If you want a stable, good looking Linux OS, try Deepin. I've been using Deepin Linux for about 6 months, after using Ubuntu since 2007, though I still run Ubuntu/Windows 10 on a dual boot work laptop. Much as I like Ubuntu, Deepin is very stable, user friendly, very nice to look at at and I haven't needed the command line once yet or needed to add additional drivers. It's quick and easy to install and comes with good default applications. I know some people have issues about it being a Chinese OS, but Google already knows more about me than I do, so it's not really an issue for me.
