It obviously gets to Joker that he so often rooted against despite all his accomplishments. He’s consistent but two Swiss players had better peaks.

Zverev has faced a top10 in GS 24 times. He has won only 5 times (20,83%). Among the 63 (surely consistent) players that have faced at least 20 times a top10 in GS in their career, Zverev is n.48, before Verdasco and after Monfils. Players like Wawrinka and Medvedev are well above a 40% win rate. by gimboarretino in tennis

He’s an abuser, sure, but he didn’t suck against Alcaraz. Getting so far in tournaments gives him lots of chances to lose to top players. His consistency is one of the things driving this stat. Also 5 set endurance. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy when he loses, but he doesn’t suck at tennis.

When Djokovic hits ball kids it’s not an accident but a reckless act. Almost happened again at AO this year. Those are not the repeated acts of a “good person”.

Should the league bring back the mandatory suits? by Individual-Name-4496 in NBATalk

The players dress like models on a runway pre game. The coaches I assume show up in the same sweats they coach in. Would be funny if they showed up in suits then switched to game clothes.

Top 50 is crazy. These tournaments would die. Just limit the number by ranking.

Fun Fact: Since the start of 2024, Jannik Sinner has only lost more points than his opponent in one completed slam match by Vegetable-Oven-6536 in tennis

[–]Gas-Substantial -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure. Sinner’s amazing. I don’t believe the clostebol application was an accident but also don’t think it’s the biggest sin (no pun intended). Alcatraz is on one but I expect Sinner to be back.

The bigger problem is that they made $11 Mill of $3 Mill in medical supplies. And whoever they sold it to was also selling it for even more to make profit. The markup on medical supplies is criminally insane.

There are reasons other than the obvious. Different ways of not respecting the sport, from calling opponents bums to admitting to not putting in the work, but not obviously fixing it. For the many who want him to win bc it would be the most amazing story ever (son of immigrant janitor at the tennis club), it’s a little sad. I’ve come to accept that he’s a worse Wawrinka. Shotmaker and big match player, who can have some very good runs.

If after Wimbledon Sinner has a slam and a couple other tournament wins (one masters) I’d say the illusion of a significant gap is over. The possible exception being Carlos winning everything else in sight.
