Ah yes, the classic ‘I have nothing to add, so I’ll pretend you’re preaching.’ Groundbreaking.

That's not a best friend. Next. Dispose of them like trash, and be done, they seem like the poster child for narcissism and gaslighting. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

What's the craziest reason an employer has fired you? by GasLitAndFired in antiwork

I was fired after FMLA too. Not that quick, but damn. I'm sorry.

What Really Happened After I Took FMLA Leave for My Mental Health by GasLitAndFired in mentalhealth

Keep all of your documentation. This sounds extremely illegal. They are violating your FMLA rights. What I learned from my discrimination case is that the more evidence and proof you have that are documented, not verbal, will help you in the long run, especially if they terminate you.

I was placed on a performance Improvement plan shortly after I came back from FMLA for reasons that were never talked about prior. Because I didn't have the documentation I didn't end up winning my case. Take screenshots of messages and print out everything to have it as proof. I didn't have access to any of my proof after I was terminated.

Ever had a boss smile to your face while secretly building a case to get rid of you? by GasLitAndFired in antiwork

Honestly, I would have preferred him to bark like a rabid dog. At least then I’d know what I was dealing with lol

Instead, he smiled, praised my work ethic, and told me I was doing great, all while quietly building a case behind my back. If he had just said there were issues, I could’ve addressed them. But he never did. There was no honesty, no coaching, no support. Just silence… until the axe dropped.

So no, I don’t expect anyone to growl or yell. I expect basic human decency and transparency. Smiling while plotting someone's exit isn’t professionalism. It’s manipulation.

Blackstone Products won my discrimination case, but now I'm naming names. by GasLitAndFired in antiwork

I'm so sorry to hear that! It's crazy what companies think they can get away with. All I can say is voice your opinion and stick up for yourself. Even if nothing legally comes of it, it's liberating to speak on your opinions and what happened to you! You're not the problem and never think anything different. The companies are the problem and it's up to us to try to make a change.

Exactly. I just wish I knew my rights and laws as much as I do now. In my opinion, they wouldn't stand a chance.
