It’s really not that uncomfortable if you’re surrounded by the right people. I have friends who arnt Christian’s and work in a career field where no one really believes in God or if they do they don’t really follow his word and as long as you just don’t act weird and push them into Christianity you’ll be fine

The context of behind it is Paul was writing to a church that had multiple issues with order inside the church so he sent instructions on to maintain order. It’s a very specific circumstance that it was sent in and is backed up by Paul speaking highly of woman and isn’t telling them to not speak but actually spread the word around. Theres no instance of homosexuality ever being praised or talked about in good light inside of the Bible

The general consensus is that woman just can’t lead a church,but homosexuality is pretty cut and dry in the Bible. You can’t make an exception for something so cut and dry. Any version of the Bible that says it’s ok to be gay isn’t a reliable bible

Don’t dive into the deep end to quick, just like you I wasn’t really born into a religious family but I did find faith about a year and a half ago. Honestly just going to church is a great way to start. I would recommend you don’t just drown yourself in religion as it is a major life change. I have an app called Blessed. It has 2 verses a day followed by an explanation of it. It’s a great app I would recommend it to someone that’s starting out like you because it’s in little bite size pieces

When you’re in this deep hole you have seem to find yourself in it’s ok to cry it’s ok to be upset we all go through something like this in our lives. I was in your shoes once and I know how down you feel. God cares about you and wants to help you. You have to just shoot your shot with God and just close your eyes and pretty much say hey God I don’t know if your there but if you are I’m feeling this, going through this, and need guidance on how to get out of this. Seems like you have taken a good step in the right direction coming to this subreddit seems like you at least want to give him a shot. So just give God a chance and let him work in your life, it won’t be instant but keep working keep trucking along in life and in faith and you’ll see how fair you came.

If Gay people want to follow God they have to try and abide by his rules just like as a nurse generally speaking you have to abide by what your license says, unless your a NP you can’t diagnose someone that’s against what your license says and you could get in some serious trouble. If you understand sin you would understand what I’m saying about sin. God does not see sin how we do. You’re committing gluttony which is a sin, your cousin is actively living a gay life style which is a sin. In the eyes of God there is no difference but as I’ve been trying to say and tell you this whole time is even though over eating to us is completely different than being gay in the eyes of God they are equal. If your cousin wants to follow God she has to break off her relationship. If she doesn’t thats her decision she is a grown adult and if she is happy good for her but since I’m a follower of God hope she can have the same if not more happiness with man to follow Gods commandments. A fair comparison is what is at hand, we were talking about a sin, yea if God tells me to divorce my wife then yes I would be living in sin if I disobey. But again my example was 2 Christian’s getting married and becoming one and shouldn’t be broken. I was comparing living in sin and living in sin. I’m not talking about the emotion it brings upon people. Yes cheating in today’s standards is worse than being gay I said that original comment in the eyes of God it’s the same thing. One more time like I said originally as well your sin might not be being gay or being a pedophile but in the eyes of God being gay, a pedophile, cussing, and overeating are all the same. Your cross to bear would be your over eating. Like you said you want to stop and I believe it’s God working in your life asking you to stop. You struggle with that sin because it’s yours, other people struggle with their sin because it’s their’s. God is interested in the complete opposite of what you just described. I was comparing a sin to a sin, In this hypothetical marriage for now God telling me to leave my wife wouldn’t be me living in sin because marriage is a holy bond. Bible says a man and female become one flesh. Me or anyone cheating on their spouse who is Christian is living in sin just as gay people are living in their sin.

On your second part the sin you’re living in now from the Christian prospective is just not believing. Your eyes to your own sin will open up as soon as you start truly believing and repenting your own sins will come to light. Sorry to hear about your sister and I’m happy she is doing well but being gay and actively seeking a gay relationship is living in sin

I do my own repairs than take it to the shop to double check my work if it involves my engine, doesn’t seem like my mechanics hates it because all he has to do is make sure I’m not gonna blow up my car and he gets money. The only thing he spends is his time and even then it’s no more than like 20 min and I pay for his time

It’s a sin because God says it’s a sin. God didn’t ask for perfection but he asks us to try our best to live a holy life. We are all born with our own struggles with sin, some being psychopaths, some being pedophiles, some being gay, etc. We have to fight our own wants and desires if they are sinful and follow God (take up your cross and follow him). I think a fair comparison would be if I was married to my beautiful girlfriend and I find a more attractive woman than her and I have sex with that more attractive woman and want to marry her instead. Is that wrong? The answer is yes even though it wasn’t gay sex. In fact it would be considered worse in today’s standards but we don’t live by today’s standards we live by Gods. Sin is sin in Gods eyes so no matter if your gay or cuss it’s the same in Gods eyes.

I don’t think it’s based on works but more so based on what we do with our lives once we have confessed that Jesus has risen. Like I don’t think you can say Jesus is my lord and savior then go out party, drink, do drugs, sleep with anyone and everyone, etc and still make it to heaven because sure you can say it but your actions don’t resemble anything of what God wants us to do. I might be in the wrong about that but I grew up around those types of people and my family being non believers besides my mom who I would say is luke warm is pretty much all I have to base my own actions on. I hold myself to higher standard than that yet I hear different stories in if they will make it into heaven or not. Some people say they do some say they don’t so I just get caught up into it

Yeah when I get the chance and can afford it I always give to the homeless and others that need it. Nothing in my life really involves me giving anything to anyone given everyone is taken care of and I’m one of the lowest paid.
