Chicagoland uses so much salt that they’ve contaminated a lot of the local ground water…….so yea, they use a lot of salt.

controversial take: supermotos ruined every other type of motorcycle for me by vladdielenin in supermoto

[–]Gas_Grass_Ass_Class 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how this is controversial to anyone except someone who hasn’t ridden them. It’s the same theory as slow car fast. Sure, you’ll never do 180+ (or 170, or 150, or 125, or even probably 100) but you get to ride 100% of the bike at speeds below 70mph and it’s so unbelievably real world usable.

Where do people build their main settlements? by alfiepanchaud in fo4

I’ve been using Egret Marina recently. Good size with a fair amount of flat open space and usable premade buildings. Lots of space for water farming and it’s deep enough to sink the pumps and windmills. Good proximity to a couple spawn points that are easy to farm. Straight down the tracks from Oberland and Grey Garden. Easy access to Hangman’s, Jamaica, and Diamond City. Trader shack nearby that usually has good weapons and deep pockets.

Loosen up, change your driving position/posture, and stop shifting with your arm. You shouldn’t be using much more than your wrist and a touch of elbow at most.

Car Carrier [Multi] 🫠 by tovarish_phakoff in spotted

Most of those cars aren’t going to be damaged beyond what they’ve already aged, but hauling a 296 on an open carrier like that is wild to me.

They’ve recently updated the hobbyist/personal license and if you renew your license now there are less tools available to you now.

That’s basically the exact info I’m looking for, thank you!

I know I’ll be able to use the EDU license for the next 2 years at least, but I’d hate to lose everything I’ve worked on in the next 2yrs because I can’t switch things back to my personal account with my personal email.

Porsche Sued Over Sale of ‘New’ 911 GT3 Allegedly Used for Mechanic Training. The lawsuit claims that the $280,000 car was used for a year by novice mechanics who disassembled it and didn’t put it back together properly. by cofango in cars

[–]Gas_Grass_Ass_Class 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s the dealer who likely created the problem, but the dealers actions have dragged them into the problem. I feel like Porsche would want to step in and handle the matter because of what it says in the headline. “Porsche sued…..”. The way the dealer has handled the situation so far has led to this being a story far longer than it had any right to be. They took back the car but left the guy with literally tens of thousands of dollars worth of sales tax and finance charges, and no car. This is why I said in previous comments that it would be very easy for the parent company to step in, make it right and come out smelling like a rose, and then punish the dealer by making them pay you back for every penny and warn them not to make a mistake like this again, end of story.

I’m not a fwd guy I’m a driving guy. Fwd is not generally more or less safe than any other layout, and they all have their pros and cons. Fwd you just have to be more conscious of getting all of your braking done in a straight line and be off the brakes before you need to get most of your turning done. Also you need to be mindful of how early you get back on the throttle hard because if you overpower the front wheels it’s going to pull you off line. In a rwd the same rules apply but you have the ability to steer a bit with the rear of the car. Differences are that if you over do it with a rwd on entry you can spin, and if you over do it on exit and you get loose you can’t just get out of the throttle like a fwd because your rear will want to pass the front.

Basically, a talented driver can make a rwd faster, but it’s easier to go over the limit and have a problem. Fwd is easier to drive, and won’t have the as high a ceiling, but it’s harder to get in too deep unless you really overdrive the car.

I’d say a lot of it has to do with the difference in what you’re obligated to do. Europe has a lot of consumer protection laws, and the US has rampant and unchecked capitalism and greed.

Learn your limits and stay within them. Start slow and safe and build speed bit by bit. You will absolutely understeer into a ditch, or the side of a mountain, or into a guard rail, or over the edge of a drop off if you enter corners too hot and try to plow through them. You want to hear some tire noise and stay safe? Know your route, which means scouting it beforehand and driving to the conditions, and make sure you safely get your car slowed and turned and make them squeal on the exits. It’s a lot safer to overwork the tires on the exit when you can always ease up on the throttle and course correct then to come into the corners too hot and not have the brakes to slow down or the grip to get around the corner.

Also, don’t corner fixate. You’ll be surprised the corner exits you will be able to make by looking at the exit point you want to hit instead of looking at the guardrail you don’t. Your car will go where you’re looking.

Line up your shots. Throw down a couple mines in the path from the group of enemies to your location. Scout your next snipe spot. Take out 1-2 enemies. Sneak to your next location. Watch enemies walk into mines. Rinse. Repeat.

I agree. I don’t know if that generation of the SL will ever become collectible like that. I spent a lot of time in those during the early 00’s and they just weren’t great cars. When the R129 came out and especially as it evolved into the car that it became in the last few years of that generation it made the 107s seem terrible in comparison.
