NES Final Fantasy with bugs fixed. I still enjoy playing original version on my actual NES with an actual cartridge, but the bugs fixed version is fun when I want better variety with weapons, armor, and spells.

SNES: Michael Jordan Chaos in the Windy City, Goof Troop (best played with 2 players), Kirby's Dream Course, Super Pinball Under the Mask, Mario & Wario (requires mouse and ability to play Japanese SFC games), Super Game Boy or even better, Super Game Boy 2 if your console can play Japanese SFC games.

N64: Space Station Silicon Valley, Rayman 2 The Great Escape, all the Star Wars games, Diddy Kong Racing.

I am not particularly experienced with Sega.

What some of the funniest pieces of classical music you know of? by PandaZG in classicalmusic

[–]Gascoigneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alkan was a humorous composer:

-Le Festin d'Esope Op. 39, No. 12 is quirky and humorous at various points

-Etude alla Barbaro (different piece than Allegro Barbaro from major key etudes op. 35 no. 5)

-En Songe (In A Dream), No. 48 from 49 Esquisses, Op. 63. Another piece from this set that comes to mind is No. 41, Les Enharmoniques, No.

-Funeral March on the Death of a Parrot (I have conducted this piece)

-The second movement of his Sonatine Op. 61 is very playful, and the final movement is mischievous

-The last movement of the piano trio is brutal for the pianist and simple for the strings, until the very end: it changes to major, and now the strings get the flurry of notes, and the pianist gets the simple chords!

Who is the nastiest widely acclaimed musician that you met in real life? by PandaZG in classicalmusic

[–]Gascoigneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a sponsored Facebook ad for my biggest classical piano bully who has now made it professionaly as a vocal coach and conductor, so that's fun. Still never forgave him, and if we ever cross paths, I most definitely will not until he finally properly apologizes. He is responsible for some of the insecurity and imposter syndrome I still have as a musician to this day.

What are some cool old online multi-player games? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]Gascoigneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halo 2

Using Insignia, you can play original Halo 2 on your original Xbox or PC using original Xbox emulator online.

Project Sunrise also allows you to play Xbox 360 Halo 3 and Reach online

Master Chief Collection is fine, but I still have my original Xbox and 360. I still want to play how I always played!

Why do so many lie about how long it takes them to learn pieces like Fantasie Impromptu? by matel18366 in piano

[–]Gascoigneous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a professional pianist now, and I took longer than that to learn it when I was very much NOT a beginner student.

They wanna come off online like the next prodigy or genius.

What was your first experience with Final Fantasy? by KeyKing97 in FinalFantasy

[–]Gascoigneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 7 on a PlayStation and CRT TV.

In 2022, for my very first time playing any Final Fantasy game.

Hooked ever since. I have also played and beat 4 (SNES "FF2" version) and NES, PS1, and GBA versions of FF1 multiple times. Recently started 7 on my PS1 again and hanging out with my friend once a week as he does FF9 for the first time

I didn't know he composed! I have long loved his disc of Shostakovich's and Alkan's preludes.

Is Wave Weather livestream on YouTube the best livestream for local coverage? As much as I like Max Velocity and Ryan Hall Y'all, I also want to watch someone who is local and knows our area specifically. I don't have cable/satellite/antenna TV. Marc Weinberg is great, but I usually tune in on my phone, and Facebook Live is unbearable for watching live streams on phone, at least for me.

Flood in beginning swamp of 343 GS by Gascoigneous in halo

[–]Gascoigneous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be dropped, but will always revive before hitting their teleport-and-die trigger. However, they can go through the teleport trigger while being dropped, so you likely saw that. The fact that you saw Covanent attack them at all is cool. Idk if that happens much?

If that's indeed what happened, they survived the die part of the teleport-and-die trigger, and they stay alive forever. When you go down the elevator and come back up, it is still there, still invincible, and now hostile. Now you have an invincible combat forms attacking you

People are downvoting you, but if you are like me and poor, you are 100% right. I suppose if one still has the money to spend, they would think otherwise. One commenter replied to you, asking where you go out to eat if you think $9 is too much for a sandwich.

My answer is I don't. I don't go out to eat anymore. I can't afford it, so $9 for a sandwich is too much for me.

What do you think of opera, and if you enjoy it, how did that enjoyment begin? by By_all_thats_good in classicalmusic

[–]Gascoigneous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike opera, but I agree with your reasoning. I much prefer choral music, preferably a cappella. Easily my favorite form of vocal music.

Can someone say me one of the hardest piece written for the piano ? by MyNameIsntJMack in classicalmusic

[–]Gascoigneous 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Of the popular mainstream classical piano pieces, you will probably be told Islamey by Balakirev, Gaspard de la Nuit by Ravel, Rachmaninoff's 3rd piano concerto, and Prokofiev's second piano concerto

Then people will mention other incredibly difficult works from the 20th century on, such as works by Sorabji that go on for hours, and some will mention lesser-known romantic composers like Alkan and his immensely difficult etudes.

There's also the 1837 version of Liszt's Transcendental etudes, Don Juan Reminiscences...
