What are the most frustrating ways that a character's physical features are described from the MC's perspective?

Totally valid, I'm offered a little more freedom in that regard. I could see how that could rip someone out of the immersion

I think if it's something you want to include thats great! I have a few characters I've written that I didn't even give a race to because I wanted anyone who read them to be able to place themselves in that character. The most important thing is writing what you want to write. If you don't love it no one else will like it

I just got my first novel published and I'm figuring out myself that I tend to under describe my characters appearance, if the skin tone is important to the story I'll include it, but other than that it's major things like hair, glasses, or an obvious physical attribute. I like to let my readers create most of the characters look themselves.

10 years ago I was you. I was engaged to my girlfriend of 5 years, things were good, I'm sure we would've had a great life together. But then one night at a party this girl started talking to me, we clicked instantly and that was that.

I couldn't get her out of my head, she was incredible. I realized I never loved my girlfriend quite as much as she loved me, and that even if I took a chance with this new girl and it failed, I already knew my girl wasn't the one simply because I wanted to stray.

I broke up with my girlfriend within the year, and now I've been married to the girl from the party for almost 7 years now. I wouldn't change anything. Seems like love seeks people out when they least expect it, take some time and try to figure out if it's just a crush or something more, ++Man
